The State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department has started a major project in the Hills region of setting up cooperatives, comprising local farmers, for processing and packaging locally-grown herbs and spices.

The Department has been working for the past six months to rope in local farmers for the cooperatives. They mainly grow cardamom, basil (tulsi), turmeric and ginger.

The farmers will be provided with necessary machines and gadgets for processing and packaging herbs and spices. The products will be sold by the cooperatives themselves, so that the profits go back to them.

This venture will be one of the highlights of the Hill Business Summit to be held on March 13 and 14, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Top entrepreneurs are going to attend the summit.

The summit is expected to give a major boost to the economy of the region. It is for the first time that the people of the Hills will be exposed to such a big platform that is intended to showcase the potential of the region. Highlighting the forming of industrial cooperatives for the farmers in the Hills will help them get business.

According to a senior official of the MSME Department, there are a lot of forest and agro-based resources in the Hills. The project was taken after a market study revealed that there is a great demand for products like large cardamom, ginger, turmeric and basil.

Citing an example, the official said there is a huge demand for basil extract (‘tulsi arak’ in Bengali and ‘tulsi ark’ in Hindi), as it has high medicinal value. Suppose there are 100 families involved in growing basil plants in the Hills. They will be brought under the cooperatives and will be provided with machinery for processing and packaging the same, he said.

At the same time, dairy products of Kalimpong, the famous orchids grown in the region, local dresses and handicraft goods will also be highlighted at the business summit.

রাজ্যের পাহাড়াঞ্চলে উৎপন্ন মশলা ও ঔষুধি গাছড়ার প্রক্রিয়াকরণ ও প্যাকেজিং করার জন্য স্থানীয় কৃষকদের নিয়ে সমবায় তৈরী করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল ক্ষুদ্র ও কুটির শিল্প এবং বস্ত্র দপ্তর।

এই সমবায় গঠনের জন্য সমস্ত কৃষককে একত্রিত করার কাজ গত ছয় মাস ধরে করছে দপ্তর। এরা মূলত তুলসী, হলুদ, আদা, ছোট এলাচ চাষ করে। কৃষকদের প্রক্রিয়াকরণ ও প্যাকেজিং-এর জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় যন্ত্রপাতি দেওয়া হবে। এই সমবায় প্যাকেজিং করা দ্রব্য নিজেরাই বিক্রী করবে।

আজ থেকে অনুষ্ঠিত হতে চলা দুদিন ব্যাপী হিল বিজনেস সামিটের এক অন্যতম আকর্ষণ হতে চলেছে এই নয়া উদ্যোগ। এই সামিটের উদ্বোধন করবেন স্বয়ং মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। নামী উদ্যোগপতিরা এখানে অংশ নেবেন।

এই সামিটের মাধ্যমে প্রথমবার পাহাড়ে বাণিজ্যতে জোর দেওয়া হবে। তাই, এই অঞ্চলের উৎপাদিত দ্রব্য বিপণনের জন্য তৈরী করা বাণিজ্যিক সমবায় গঠন নিশ্চয় এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করবে।

দপ্তরের এক আধিকারিকের মতে, পাহাড়ে অনেক কৃষিজ ও বনজ সম্পদের ভাণ্ডার আছে। সমীক্ষা করে দেখা গেছে বড় এলাচ, আদা, হলুদ ও তুলসীর ব্যাপক সম্পদ রয়েছে। সেগুলির বিচক্ষণ ব্যবহারের জন্যই এই পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে।

পাশাপাশি কালিম্পং-এর দুগ্ধজাত দ্রব্য, এই অঞ্চলের জনপ্রিয় ললিপপ, অর্কিড, স্থানীয় পোশাক, হস্তশিল্পকেও এই সামিটে তুলে ধরা হবে।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s zeal for taking Bengal back to its glory days is bearing fruit. Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department recently said that the Trinamool Congress Government has brought about a marked growth in the socio-economic condition of handicrafts artisans in the rural reaches of the state by giving them platforms to sell their items. He was speaking at the prize-distribution ceremony of the State Handicrafts Expo in New Town.

As many as 40 handicrafts and handloom fairs are organised by the Trinamool Congress Government at various locations every year. During the previous Left Front Government, only 12 such fairs used to be held.

The minister followed it up with another comparison – from the various fairs, handicraft items worth nearly Rs 40 crore are sold every year, compared to Rs 18 crore during the previous government’s rule. Not just that, many of the handicraft items have found a market abroad, courtesy again, the current State Government.

The government is also bearing the travel expense of the artisans who bring their products from far-off districts and showcase them at the fairs. To ensure that the artisans do not face any difficulties, the MSME Department is also waiving the entry fees for the participants.

 

তৃণমূলের আমলে হস্তশিল্পের প্রসার ঘটেছে

রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তে ছড়িয়ে থাকা হস্তশিল্পীদের তৈরী সামগ্রী নিয়ে বিগত বাম শাসনে সারা রাজ্যে মেলা হত মাত্র ১২টি। আর ২০১১ সালে রাজ্যে শাসনভার বদলানোর পর তা বেড়ে হয়েছে ৪০টি। সেই আমলে সব মেলা মিলিয়ে সর্বোচ্চ বিক্রি হয়েছিল ১৮ কোটি ৭৪ লক্ষ টাকার। সেখানে গত বছরই ৪০টি মেলায় ৪৫ কোটি টাকার বেশী বিক্রি হয়েছে।

এবার হস্তশিল্প মেলা হচ্ছে নিউটাউনের ইকো পার্কে। সেখানে ১০ ডিসেম্বর পর্যন্ত মেলা চলবে। ইতিমধ্যেই ১১ কোটি ৫৪ লক্ষ টাকার জিনিস বিক্রি হয়েছে। এভাবেই রাজ্যের বর্তমান সরকার হস্তশিল্পীদের তৈরী করা নানা সামগ্রী বিপণনের সুযোগ ও সম্ভাবনা বাড়িয়েছে।

এই পরিসংখ্যান দিয়ে রাজ্য সরকারের সাফল্য ব্যাখ্যা করেন ক্ষুদ্র, মাঝারি ও কুটির শিল্প মন্ত্রী। ইকো পার্কে এদিন রাজ্য পর্যায়ে হস্তশিল্প প্রতিযোগিতায় শ্রেষ্ঠ ৭৫ জনকে আর্থিক পুরস্কার ও মানপত্র তুলে দেন তিনি।

In order to promote various products, including engineering and textile products in the international market, the Bengal government is drafting a comprehensive export strategy for the micro and small scale enterprises in the textile sector.

The main purpose of the move is to create a demand for Bengal’s myriad products in markets abroad. This will not only restore the past glory of Bengal’s textile and other industries, but also help in reviving the economy of medium and small sectors in the state.

A memorandum of understanding has already been signed between the state government and the Export Import Bank of India (Exim Bank).

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department has been working towards building infrastructure so that the products could be exported to various countries, boosting sustainable growth in various sectors.

The Bengal MSME department had taken up a series of new projects to contribute to the development of the socio-economic condition of artisans across the state by giving them a platform to showcase their handicrafts. The state government had set up ‘Rural Craft hub Project’ at 11 different locations for this purpose.

The hubs, which are also recognised by UNESCO, have turned into tourist hotspots.

 

আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারে রাজ্যের হস্তশিল্পের প্রসারের উদ্যোগ রাজ্যের

আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারে রাজ্যের হস্তশিল্প সামগ্রীর আরও প্রসার ঘটাতে রাজ্য ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্প বিষয়ক দপ্তর একটি রপ্তানি নীতি বা এক্সপোর্ট পলিসি আনার কথা ভাবছে।

এর ফলে বাংলার হৃৎ গৌরব তো ফিরবেই, সাথে ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্পর বিরাট লাভ হবে। ইতিমধ্যেই Export Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) এর সাথে রাজ্য সরকারের একটি মৌ স্বাক্ষরিত হয়েছে।

ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্প বিষয়ক দপ্তর এখন রাজ্যে রপ্তানি করার মতো পরিকাঠামো তৈরী করবে যাতে বিদেশে রাজ্যের হস্তশিল্প সামগ্রী পাঠানো যায়।

ইতিমধ্যেই রাজ্যের হস্তশিল্পীদের সামাজিক কল্যাণের জন্য রাজ্য সরকার নানা পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে। তৈরী হয়েছে ১১টি রুরাল ক্র্যাফট হাব। এই হাবগুলি ইউনেস্কোর প্রশংসাও কুড়িয়েছে।

The idea of creating a market competitor of Banarasi – one of the finest wedding-wear for the brides across the nation – is now nurtured by the experts working under Bengal MSME and Textile Department.

‘Silk Marriage Sari’ – will be an alternative for ‘Banarasi Sari’ in West Bengal.

“I have confirmation from the Chief Minister to go ahead with this project. She has instructed us to finish the research work and commence the production as soon as possible,” said MSME and textile minister.

“Our production will be modern and gorgeous. The elegant look, stunning hand-made designs, colours would beat its competitors in wedding sari segment,” said the minister.

The Silk Marriage sari will be showcased in 22 Tantuja showrooms across the State. “We are going to start production at two destinations – Dhatrigram of Burdwan and Fulia of Nadia,” the minister said.

The State Government has hired some expert Banarasi artists, who are presently giving training, teaching and guidance to the Bengal weavers. The promotion and branding, marketing team would be done in a pre-planned way.

 

 

বিয়ের বেনারসির বিকল্প হিসেবে সিল্ক শাড়িকে তুলে ধরবে বস্ত্রদপ্তর

বিয়ের বেনারসি শাড়ির বিকল্প আসতে চলেছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে। বাংলার তাঁতিরা এই বেনারসি শাড়ির বিকল্প সিল্ক শাড়ি বাংলাতেই তৈরি করবে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্প ও বস্ত্রদপ্তরের উদ্যোগে শুরু হতে চলেছে এই উৎপাদন।

 

ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্প ও বস্ত্রদপ্তরের মন্ত্রী জানান, “এই প্রকল্পের কাজ এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়ার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী থেকে। গবেষণার কাজ শেষ এবং যত তাড়াতাড়ি সম্ভব উৎপাদন আরম্ভ করার নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে”।

এই সিল্কের শাড়িগুলি তন্তুজর শোরুমে প্রদর্শিত হবে। “তন্তুজর ২২ টি কেন্দ্রে এই সব শাড়ি বিক্রি হবে। বর্ধমানের ধাত্রীগ্রামে এবং নদিয়ার ফুলিয়ায় আমরা আরও দুটি উৎপাদন কেন্দ্র তৈরি করছি।

বাংলার তাঁতিদের প্রশিক্ষণ দিতে বেনারসি শাড়ির বিশেষজ্ঞদের এনেছে রাজ্য সরকার।

Just before the Durga Puja, the state government is all set to organise another edition of ‘Banglar Tanter Haat’ – a fair, where the weavers of Bengal will showcase their amazing creations.

The organiser is the state micro, small and medium enterprise and textiles department. The minister of micro, small and medium enterprise, will inaugurate the fair on Sunday.

The fair has been the centre of attraction for women, as various varieties of Saaris and Salwar and other traditional apparels are showcased here. Milan Mela – the state government’s designated fair zone just off to Eastern Metropolitan Bypass – is the venue of Banglar Tanter Haat.

The weavers across the state will participate in the Haat and will sell their product. The urban population is in love with their production. A huge turnout in the fair is expected this year as it is being held just before the festive season.

But not only the woman but the men would also be happy with variety of the clothes in the haat. Various men apparels including Dhuti, Punjabi and wide variety of Fotua will be displayed.

 

পুজোর আগে শুরু হচ্ছে ‘বাংলার তাঁতের হাট’

পুজোর আগে সুখবর। রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে এ বছর দুর্গা পুজোর আগেই আবারও আয়োজন করা হচ্ছে “বাংলার তাঁতের হাট” মেলার।

বাংলার তাঁত শিল্পীরা যাতে নিজেদের শিল্পশৈলী দেখানোর সুযোগ পায়, তাই এই মেলার উদ্যোগ ক্ষুদ্র ও কুটিরশিল্প দফতর ও বস্ত্রশিল্প দফতর। রবিবার ক্ষুদ্র ও কুটিরশিল্প মন্ত্রী এই মেলার উদ্বোধন করবেন।

মেলাতে থাকবে বিভিন্ন ধরণের শাড়ি, সালোয়ার ও ঐতিহ্যবাহী বস্ত্রসমূহ। ই এম বাইপাসের ধারে অবস্থিত মিলন মেলা প্রাঙ্গনে এই মেলাটি অনুষ্ঠিত হবে।

সারা রাজ্যের সমস্ত তাঁত শিল্পী এই মেলায় অংশ নেবেন ও নিজেদের জিনিসপত্র বিক্রি করতে পারবেন। বিগত কয়েক বছরে দেখা গেছে শহরের মানুষ ওনাদের কাজকে খুব পছন্দ করছেন, তাই, আশা করা যায় পুজোর আগেই এই মেলাকে কেন্দ্র করে ভালো সাড়া পাওয়া যাবে।

শুধু মহিলা নন, পুরুষদের জন্যও মেলাতে থাকবে নানা সমাহার। যেমন ধুতি, পাঞ্জাবি ও প্রচুর ধরণের ফতুয়া মেলায় পাওয়া যাবে।

The Bengal government is planning to boost export of handicrafts and provide artisans with direct access to export. The state will hold training workshops on export at the handicrafts fair. Over 3,500 artisans are likely to participate in the workshops.

The state’s micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSME), along with the textile department that is hosting the fair, has tied up with the Federation of Indian Exports organizations (FIEO) to train artisans. The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also wanted to set up a mall to showcase the handicrafts.

Officials said that Bengal had exported handicrafts worth around Rs 500 crore in the last financial year.

Rajiva Sinha, secretary of MSME department, said, “This year’s fair is expected to be a major success. Last year, goods worth Rs 18 crore were sold.“

“The aim is to promote ex port of handicrafts and allied products from Bengal. FIEO officials will help and train artisans. We will teach them how to start exports and the processes required along with export documentation,“ said Debdatta Nandwani, deputy director general of FIEO’s eastern zone.

West Bengal State Handicrafts Fair, 2015 – one of the largest handicraft fairs in India – was inaugurated by the Minister for Industry, Finance and Commerce, Dr Amit Mitra today at Milan Mela grounds.

Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr Swapan Debnath was also present on the occasion.

The fair grounds will be open to the public from 1 PM – 8:30 PM daily.

More than 3500 handicraft artists are participating in this annual fair organised by the Department of Small and Medium Enterprises, West Bengal Government. The fair will be held till December 13.

West Bengal Government has instituted credit cards, modelled after Kisan Credit Cards, for handicraft artisans in the State. Skill development training will also be provided to them by the Federation of India Export Organization so that the manufactured products may be of export quality.

Through the credit cards, the artisans can take a maximum loan of Rs 50,000 and once they repay the loan, more amounts will be approved.

The venture capital fund for micro, small and medium enterprises, which was proposed in the last State budget, will start functioning from next month.

The fund will come up with a corpus of Rs 200 crore. State commerce and industries Minister Dr Amit Mitra said that his department has started the process to identify bankable projects for funding. “We hope to start allocation for micro, small and medium scale enterprises from this fund from next month,“ he said. The fund will also offer seed capital to budding entrepreneurs for starting business.

Dr Mitra spoke on the venture capital fund while addressing the annual general meeting of MCC Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Bengal was marching ahead compared to many other states in the MSME sector. The MSME facilitation and technology centre has been functioning for the last few months.

Dr Mitra added that 56,872 new MSME units have registered in Bengal between May 2011 and October 2015. “This clearly shows the growth in MSME in Bengal during our regime,“ he added. He pointed out that there has been a five-fold increase in the number of MSME clusters during the regime of the Trinamool government. “Only 48 clusters were created in the four years before 2011. But in next four years since 2011, 183 clusters have been created,“ he added.

Dr Mitra also said that total bank credit to MSME during the four years of Mamata regime was Rs 74,437 crore compared to Rs 32,000 crore in the last four years of the Left Front government.

The State government is planning 341 rural marketing hubs for MSME and agro products. “We shall invest Rs 3 crore in each hub and the total allocation will be to the tune of more than Rs 900 crore,“ he added.
