Two new development boards for Hills communities

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee at her rally in Darjeeling yesterday announced the setting up of development boards for two more Hills communities – the Limbus and the Khambu-Rais.

The developmental agenda of the Trinamool Congress Government continues unabated. Last year, the Chief Minister had announced development boards for five communities – Lepcha, Sherpa, Tamang, Bhutia and Mangar.

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় গতকাল দার্জিলিংএর একটি জনসভায় আরও ২টি বোর্ড করার কথা ঘোষণা করেছেন। একটি লিম্বু জনসম্প্রদায় এবং অপরটি খাম্বু-রাই সম্প্রদায়ের জন্য।

তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের উন্নয়ন কর্মসূচী অব্যাহত। গত বছর মুখ্যমন্ত্রী তামাং, লেপচা, শেরপা, ভুটিয়া এবং মাঙ্গার জনসম্প্রদায়ের জন্য বোর্ড তৈরির কথা ঘোষণা করেহিলেন।

 

WB CM announces the formation of a Bhutia Development Board

After the formation of separate development boards for the Lepcha, Sherpa and Tamang communities, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday announced the formation of a separate development board for the Bhutia community as well.

She further announced during the Clean and Green Darjeeling programme held at Chowrastha that Rs 5 crore will be provided for the Bhutia Development Board.

“Initially I had formed development boards for the Lepcha, Sherpa and Tamang communities, now I have formed a development board for the Bhutia community as well,” Mamata Banerjee said.

“They have been living here since a long time. With regard to the other communities, we have incorporated them in the Tamang board. Everyone will work united. After all everyone lives in the hills,” she added.

WB CM announces development board for Sherpas

After the formation of the development boards for the Lepcha and Tamang communities, West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee on Friday announced the formation of a separate development board for the Sherpa community in the Darjeeling Hills.

She further declared that the Sherpa Cultural Development board will receive a cheque of Rs 5 Crore for the development of the Sherpa community, in the 119th birth anniversary celebration of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Chowrastha, Darjeeling.

The CM also declared that an amount of Rs 1 lakh will be given to 10 people who climb mountains amidst thick and thin situation for the nation but is still poverty stricken. This event also witnessed several cultural songs and dances by renowned artists from Kolkata as well as Darjeeling.
