Ever since assuming office, the development of the Hills has been a top priority for Mamata Banerjee. Unlike her predecessors, she visits the Darjeeling Hills very often, and has taken several initiatives for the welfare of the people of the region.

The Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) Act was notified in 2012. Thirty-five departments of the State Government have notified the setting up of their offices under GTA. More than Rs 3,925 crore has been allocated from the Hill Affairs Department for the Hills since then.

The situation in the region has remained peaceful due to the sustained efforts on the part of this government. Developmental measures aimed at benefiting the people in the Hill areas and Dooars have culminated in significant socio-economic improvement of the people residing in these areas.

 

Here are some of the development initiatives:

A. New District

  • Notable among the steps taken is creation of a separate district of Kalimpong and a separate sub-division of Mirik.

 

B. Development Boards

  • Sixteen development boards have been formed for the indigenous communities of the Hills and nearly Rs 320 crore has been disbursed to them for various developmental activities including the preservation and promotion of their ancient culture and traditions.

 

C. Infrastructure:

  • Renovation of NH-55 between Tindharia and Paglajhora and NH-10 between Sevoke and the Sikkim border, which were badly damaged due to landslides. has been taken up.
  • The construction of AH-2 and AH-48 is underway, which will improve the connectivity of Bengal with Sikkim, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
  • Construction of Bailey bridge at Bijanbari, Darjeeling has been completed.
  • Construction of two-storey building of Garidhura Police Outpost in Kurseong completed.
  • Special repair and renovation of Richmond Hill ( official residence of Chief Minister) in Darjeeling has been completed.

 

D.Tourism

  • In Kalimpong, eight cottages have been constructed within the premises of Morgan House Tourist Lodge.
  • NBDD, in collaboration with the Tourism and Forest Departments has established a tourism hub at Lamahata, Darjeeling district.
  • Two Cultural Tourism Centres are being developed in Kalimpong-I and Sukhiapokhri blocks for focusing of Lepcha culture and heritage.
  • One hundred-bedded youth hostel is under construction in Kalimpong.
  • Four executive class buses for foreign tourists as well as four small vehicles for local sightseeing have been introduced at a cost of Rs 2 crore.
  • In Darjeeling, an eco-friendly tourist lodge is being developed at Tiger Hill. The Siliguri Royal Tiger Safari has been introduced, which will be the first tiger safari in Bengal.

 

E. Education

  • Model schools in Sukna, Mongarjung and RKSP in Darjeeling district have been established. The model Schools have been commissioned.
  • Two degree colleges have been established in Pedong and Gorubathan.
  • An ITI and a polytechnic college are being built up in Kalimpong. Another ITI is being set up at Gorubathan.
  • In Kurseong, Dow Hill is being developed as an education hub. The Himalayan Centre of Presidency University is also being established at the same place.

 

F. Health

  • In Kalimpong, one high-dependency unit (HDU) has been set up. Eight SNSUs have been set up in the district of Darjeeling. Two CCUs have been established in Siliguri and Darjeeling.
  • Four fair price medicine shops have been set up in Darjeeling, Siliguri, Kurseong and Naxalbari.
  • In Kurseong, a medical college is being set up. Moreover, four sub-centres are ready to be commissioned.

 

G. Other initiatives

  • The government has decided to lay emphasis on eco and village tourism, setting up of new health centres, agriculture and horticulture as well as skill development schemes in the areas of hospitality, security services (unarmed), handloom, handicrafts etc.
  • The Himal-Terai-Dooars sports festivals are being held to encourage the youth of the region to participate in sports and games.
  • Rs 182.06 lakh allotted to Ram Krishna Sewa Ashram for the renovation of Roy Villa in Darjeeling. Memoirs of Sister Nivedita, during her stay at Darjeeling, and other valuable records have been kept there.
  • Residents of the Hills, including both workers and non-workers and their families of the tea gardens, have been included in the Khadya Sathi Scheme through which they get foodgrains at highly subsidised rates.

 

সাত বছরে পাহাড়ের সার্বিক উন্নয়নঃ এক নজরে

বিগত ৩৪ বছরের বাম আমলে কার্যত পাহাড় ছিল অবহেলিত। না ছিল কোনও উন্নয়নের প্রকল্প, না ছিল উন্নয়ন করার কোনও সদিচ্ছা বা পরিকল্পনা। ২০১১ সালে ক্ষমতা বদল হয়ে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস শাসনভার গ্রহণ করার পর থেকে পাহাড় হাসছে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় পাহাড়ের উন্নয়নকে পাখির চোখ করে একের পর এক প্রকল্প নেওয়া হয়েছে, পাহাড়ের পিছিয়ে পড়া মানুষগুলোকে এগিয়ে আসার সুযোগ করে দেওয়া হয়েছে।

২০১২ সালে জিটিএ অ্যাক্টের বিজ্ঞপ্তি প্রকাশ করা হয়। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের ৩৫টি দপ্তর জিটিএ অ্যাক্টের অধীনে নিজেদের অফিস তৈরীর কথা ঘোষণা করেছে।
পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের পার্বত্য বিষয়ক বিভাগ গত ছয় বছরে পার্বত্য এলাকার উন্নয়নের জন্য ৩৯২৫ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করে।

সরকারের দীর্ঘকালীন প্রচেষ্টার ফলে দার্জিলিং জেলা ও ডুয়ার্স অঞ্চলের পরিস্থিতি বর্তমানে স্বাভাবিক। উন্নয়নমুখী নানা প্রকল্পের ফলে পার্বত্য অঞ্চলের মানুষের আর্থ-সামাজিক পরিস্থিতি আগের চেয়ে ভালো হয়ে উঠেছে। ফলে সমগ্র অঞ্চলে বর্তমানে শান্তির পরিবেশ বজায় রয়েছে।

 

একনজরে দেখে নেওয়া যাক গত ছয় বছরে পাহাড়ের উন্নয়নের জন্য নেওয়া সরকারের কিছু পদক্ষেপঃ-

নতুন জেলা

  • একটি উল্লেখযোগ্য পদক্ষেপ হিসেবে কালিম্পং-কে একটি পৃথক জেলা ও মিরিক-কে পৃথক মহকুমা হিসেবে ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে।

 

বোর্ড গঠন

  • স্থানীয় জনগোষ্ঠীগুলির উন্নয়নের কথা মাথায় রেখে ১৬টি বোর্ড গঠন করা হয়েছে। প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্য ও সংস্কৃতি সংরক্ষন-সহ অন্যান্য উন্নয়নমুখী প্রকল্পে ইতিমধ্যেই ৩২০ কোটি টাকা প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

 

পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়ন

  • পার্বত্য এলাকায় সড়ক পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নে সরকার বিশেষ গুরুত্ব আরোপ করেছে।
  • ধসে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত তিনধরিয়া এবং পাগলাঝোরার মধ্যবর্তী ৫৫নম্বর জাতীয় সড়ক, সেবক ও সিকিমের মধ্যবর্তী ১০ নম্বর জাতীয় সড়কের সংস্কার চলছে।
  • এএইচ ২ এবং এএইচ ৪৮ এর নির্মাণের কাজ চলছে। এই দুটি সড়ক চালু হলে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের সঙ্গে সিকিম, নেপাল, বাংলাদেশ এবং ভুটানের যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থার প্রভূত উন্নতি হবে।
  • দার্জিলিঙের বিজনবাড়িতে বেইলি সেতুর নির্মাণকাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে।

 

পর্যটন

  • পার্বত্য অঞ্চলে পর্যটন শিল্পের বিকাশের জন্য পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার চেষ্টা করে চলেছে।
  • কালিম্পং-এ মর্গ্যান টুরিস্ট সংলগ্ন এলাকায় ৮টি কটেজ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • লেপচা সংস্কৃতির ঐতিহ্যকে কেন্দ্র করে কালিম্পং-১ এবং সুখিয়াপোখরি ব্লকে ২টি সাংস্কৃতিক পর্যটন কেন্দ্র গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • কালিম্পং-এ ১০০টি আসনসম্পন্ন একটি ইয়ুথ হোস্টেল তৈরী করা হচ্ছে। নতুন পর্যটন কেন্দ্র গড়ে তোলার কাজে ইতিমধ্যেই ২৯.৪ কোটি টাকা ব্যয় করা হয়েছে।
  • ২কোটি টাকা খরচ করে বিদেশী পর্যটকদের সুবিধার্থে ৪টি একজিকিউটিভ শ্রেণীর বাস এবং স্থানীয় জায়গাগুলি ঘুরে দেখার জন্য ৪টি ছোট গাড়ি কেনা হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিঙের টাইগার হিলে একটি পরিবেশবান্ধব টুরিস্ট লজ গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে।
  • পশ্চিমবঙ্গের প্রথম টাইগার সাফারি হিসাবে শিলিগুড়ি রয়্যাল টাইগার সাফারি গড়ে উঠেছে।
  • দার্জিলিং-এর লামাহাটায় উত্তরবঙ্গ উন্নয়ন বিভাগ, পর্যটন ও বোন দপ্তরের সহায়তায় একটি পর্যটন হাব স্থাপন করেছে এবং সেটি মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ২৭শে জানুয়ারি ২০১৩-এ উদ্বোধন করেছেন।
  • কালিম্পং-এ মর্গ্যান হাউস, হিলটপ এবং তাসিডাঙা টুরিস্ট লজের মেরামতি ও সংস্কার কাজ এবং জলদাপাড়া ও মূর্তিতে তাঁবু তৈরীর কাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে।

 

শিক্ষা

  • সুকনা ও মোঙ্গরজঙেম, ডেলস্কুল, দার্জিলিং-এ আরকেএএসপি গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • ২০১৭-১৮’র শিক্ষাবর্ষে মডেল স্কুলগুলিতে পঠন-পাঠন চালু হবে।
  • পেডং এবং গরুবাথানে দুটি ডিগ্রী কলেজ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • কালিম্পং-এ একটি নতুন আইটিআই এবং একটি পলিটেকনিক কলেজ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে। গরুবাথানে আরও একটি আইটিআই তৈরীর কাজ চলছে।
  • কার্শিয়াং-এর ডাওহিলকে একটি শিক্ষাকেন্দ্র হিসাবে গড়ে তোলার কাজ চলছে। এই অঞ্চলে প্রেসিডেন্সি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের হিমালয়ান সেন্টার গড়ে তোলার কাজ চলছে।

 

স্বাস্থ্য

  • কালিম্পং-এ একটি হাই ডিপেনডেন্সি ইউনিট (HDU) গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিং জেলায় ৮টি এসএনএসইউ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • শিলিগুড়ি এবং দার্জিলিং-এ ২টি সিসিইউ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিং, শিলিগুড়ি, কার্শিয়াং এবং নকশালবাড়িতে ৪টি ন্যায্য মূল্যের ওষুধের দোকান তৈরী করা হয়েছে।
  • কার্শিয়াং-এ একটি নতুন মেডিক্যাল কলেজ গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে। পাশাপাশি ১০০ বেডের ইএসআই হাসপাতাল গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে শিলিগুড়িতে। এছাড়াও ৪টি উপকেন্দ্র কাজ শুরুর অপেক্ষায় রয়েছে।

 

অন্যান্য কর্মসূচি

  • স্থানীয় ছেলেমেয়েদের খেলাধূলায় উৎসাহ দেওয়ার জন্য হিমল-তরাই-ডুয়ার্স ক্রীড়া উৎসব অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিং-এর রায়ভিলার সংস্কার কাজের জন্য রামকৃষ্ণ সেবা আশ্রমকে ১৮২.০৬ লক্ষ টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে। দার্জিলিং-এ থাকাকালীন ভগিনী নিবেদিতার স্মৃতি এবং অন্যান্য মূল্যবান রেকর্ডসমূহ সেখানে রাখা হয়েছে। এটি দার্জিলিং-এর ভ্রমণ ম্যাপের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করার প্রস্তাব দেওয়া হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিং-এর কার্শিয়াং-এ টয়লেট ব্লকসহ গাড়িধুরা পুলিশ ফাঁড়ির দোতলা ভবনের নির্মাণকাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে।

The sun of 2017 is setting, and 2018 is on the horizon. At this juncture, let us take a look at some of the crucial events that have held up for everyone.

It is an undeniable fact that under the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress Government, Bengal has turned a crucial bend on the road to development, and now there is no looking back.

Here are 17 events in 2017 that we will all remember:

1. Kanyashree wins UN award

On June 23, 2017, the Bengal Government was awarded the United Nations Public Service Award for winning the first prize among projects in South Asia for the Kanyashree Scheme.

2. FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Bengal

The Bengal Government earned worldwide praise, including from world football’s governing body, FIFA for successfully organising the Under-17 World Cup. Two of the most crucial matches, a semi-final and he final, were both held at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata.

3. Victory in by-elections

All the four by-elections held in 2017 – for the seats of Cooch Behar, Dakshin Kanthi, Tamluk and Sabang – were won by huge margins by the Trinamool Congress.

4. Bengal gets new districts

The State Government created four new districts for administrative convenience, bringing the total number to 23. Kalimpong was created out of Darjeeling and Jhargram was created out of Paschim Medinipur while Bardhaman was broken up into Purba Bardhaman and Paschim Bardhaman.

5. Trinamool blooms in the Hills

For the first time ever, Trinamool Congress has formed a local government in the Hills region. Mirik Municipality is now with Trinamool Congress.

6. Mega health reform

Setting a benchmark for other states as well as the Union Government, the West Bengal Clinical Establishments (Registration, Regulation and Transparency) Bill was passed by the State Assembly, brining in a raft of new measures for strengthening the health administration. Among other advantages, now, even for treatment in private hospitals, patients would be able to know the details about the cost and other aspects.

7. Balm on demonetisation troubles

The Bengal Government brought in the Samarthan Scheme in March 2017. It has ensured that those who have had to return to the state, having lost their jobs due to the impact of demonetisation, receive a one-time grant of Rs 50,000 to give them stability as well as enable them to start a new business. Along with this, they are also able to enrol in government schemes which would help them to ensure a steady income.

8. ‘Experience Bengal’ become viral

The State Tourism Department’s promotional video, ‘Experience Bengal’ has picked up a lot of praise, both in terms of the visuals and the content.

9. International business summit hits the right notes

The third Bengal Global Business Summit in January became a forum for industry interactions of the highest order. Representatives from about 30 countries attended the summit, and of course those from across India. Memoranda of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 2.34 lakh was signed at the summit.

10. Rosogolla wins it for Bengal

After a long fight, Rosogolla has been officially recognised, through the granting of a geographical information (GI) tag, as belonging to Bengal.

11. Sitalpati and gobindobhog get international recognition

The well-known aromatic gobindobhog variety of rice has earned a GI tag, giving it a locational uniqueness, and thus, a huge marketability. Sitalpati earned a similar recognition from UNESCO when it was recognised as an ‘intangible cultural heritage’.

12. Bengal leads in MSME

Over the last five years, among the states, entrepreneurs of Bengal, as a whole, have received the highest amount of loans, amounting to 15 billion US dollars. Additionally, in terms of both the number of micro, small and medium (MSME) enterprises and the number of people employed in those, Bengal stands second in the country. Almost 37 lakh MSME enterprises employ about 86 lakh people.

13. Bengal is leading in the construction of toilets

Bengal is the leading state in India in the construction of toilets. The State Government’s Mission Nirmal Bangla is ensuring that Bengal wins the race in terms of a sustainable open-defecation free (ODF) culture. UNESCO has specially recognised the state for this. Not just construction, the government is ensuring through various local campaigns that using proper toilets becomes a normal habit.

14. Stress on infrastructural development

The Bengal Government has decided to spend Rs 12,000 crore under the non-Plan head, with special stress on building infrastructure. Among the infrastructural projects completed is building 18,000 km of roads.

15. Chief Minister’s England and Scotland trip

This year, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee undertook highly successful visits to England and Scotland, drawing a lot of interest from industrialists and entrepreneurs. At the various summits she attended, Mamata Banerjee held up the huge opportunities and every type of help from the government that investors will find in Bengal.

16. Horasis Asia Summit in Kolkata

The prestigious Horasis Asia summit was held in Kolkata in November, which was the first time that it was held in India. Business leaders (CEOs, promoters, founders, etc.) from 65 countries, numbering 350, attended the summit. The Chief Minister addressed the summit too, inviting investment in all sectors in Bengal.

17. Infosys comes to Bengal

That the industrial climate of Bengal is changing for the better became evident when the international IT giant, Infosys decided to invest Rs 100 crore to set up a campus in Rajarhat, which will generate 1,000 jobs.

২০১৭র সূর্য আজ অস্তাচলে। নবদিগন্তে উদিত হবে ২০১৮র নতুন ভোর। বিগত বছরের কিছু অবিস্মরণীয় ঘটনাই হয়ে উঠুক আগামীর পথ চলার পাথেয়। কেমন কাটল এই বছর? ফিরে দেখা ২০১৭।

১. কন্যাশ্রীর বিশ্বজয়

রাষ্ট্রপুঞ্জে জনপরিষেবা দিবস উপলক্ষে এক অনুষ্ঠানে বাংলার প্রকল্প ‘‌কন্যাশ্রী’‌ প্রথম পুরস্কার পায়। ৬৩টি দেশের ৫৫২ প্রকল্পকে হারিয়ে সেরার শিরোপা পায় কন্যাশ্রী।

২. বিশ্ববাংলায় বিশ্বকাপ

এই প্রথম বার কলকাতায় আয়োজিত হয় অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপ ফুটবল। রাজ্য সরকারের সুষ্ঠু ব্যবস্থাপনায় মুগ্ধ হয় ফিফা কর্তৃপক্ষ। সবচেয়ে বেশি সংখ্যক দর্শকের উপস্থিতির জন্য প্রসংশিত হয় কলকাতা।

৩. উপনির্বাচনে তৃণমূলের জয়জয়কার

২০১৭ সালের ৪টি উপনির্বাচনে (কোচবিহার, দক্ষিণ কাঁথি, তমলুক ও সবং) বিপুল ভোটে জয়লাভ করে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস।

৪. বাংলা পেল নতুন জেলা

নতুন তিনটি জেলা গঠিত হল বাংলায়। দার্জিলিং জেলা ভেঙে গড়া হয় কালিম্পঙ, বর্ধমান ভেঙে তৈরী হয় পূর্ব ও পশ্চিম বর্ধমান, এবং পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর ভেঙে তৈরী হয় ঝাড়গ্রাম জেলা।

৫. পাহাড়ে ফুটল ঘাসফুল

রাজনৈতিক ইতিহাসে প্রথমবার পাহাড়ে (মিরিক পুরসভা) এককভাবে জয়লাভ করে পুরসভা গঠন করল তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস। প্রসঙ্গত, এর আগে কখনও পাহাড়ে সেখানকার আঞ্চলিক দল ছাড়া কেউ জয়লাভ করেনি।

৬. স্বাস্থ্যে বড় সংস্কার

স্বাস্থ্য পরিষেবায় স্বচ্ছতা আনতে, রোগীদের হয়রানি বন্ধ করতে ও চিকিৎসায় গাফিলতি রুখতে নতুন আইন আনল রাজ্য সরকার, গঠিত হল ১১ সদস্যের স্বাস্থ্য বিষয়ক কমিশন। রাজ্যের বেসরকারি হাসপাতাল ও নার্সিংহোমের বিলিং এর ওপর নজর রাখবে এই কমিশন। পাশাপাশি আইন লঙ্ঘন করলে হাসপাতালগুলির ওপর জরিমানা চাপাবে কমিশন।

৭. নোটবন্দির ক্ষতে প্রলেপ

২০১৭ সালের মার্চ মাসে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার ‘সমর্থন’ প্রকল্প চালু করেছে। যে সমস্ত শ্রমিক/কর্মচারী কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের নোটবন্দির ফলে অন্য রাজ্য থেকে কাজ হারিয়ে ফিরে এসেছেন তাদের ৫০০০০ টাকার আর্থিক সাহায্য স্বরূপ এককালীন এই অনুদান দেওয়ার উদ্দেশ্যে এই প্রকল্প চালু করা হয়েছে।

৮. ভাইরাল ‘এক্সপিরিয়েন্স বেঙ্গল’

জানুয়ারী মাসে প্রকাশিত হয় পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পর্যটনের নতুন ভিডিও। সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া সাইটে বিপুল আলোড়ন ফেলে এই ভিডিও। প্রায় এক কোটি মানুষ এই ভিডিও দেখেছেন টুইটার, ফেসবুক, ইউটিউব সহ নানা সাইটে।

৯. বাণিজ্য সম্মেলনে লক্ষ্মী লাভ

তৃতীয় বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলন অনুষ্ঠিত হয় জানুয়ারী মাসে। প্রায় ৩০টি দেশ থেকে প্রতিনিধিরা অংশগ্রহণ করেন এই সম্মেলনে। ২ লক্ষ ৩৪ হাজার কোটি টাকার লগ্নি প্রস্তাব পায় রাজ্য এই সম্মেলনে।

১০. রসগোল্লা বাংলারই

দীর্ঘ লড়াইয়ের পর শেষ হাসি হাসল বাংলাই। রসগোল্লার জিআই ট্যাগ জিতে নিল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ।

১১. শীতলপাটি ও গোবিন্দভোগের আন্তর্জাতিক স্বীকৃতি

আন্তর্জাতিক স্বীকৃতি পেল বাংলার হস্তশিল্প। রাজ্যের শীতলপাটি স্বীকৃতি পে ইউনেস্কো থেকে। পাশাপাশি, বাংলার সুগন্ধি গোবিন্দভোগ চাল পায় জিআই ট্যাগ।

১২. ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্পে এগিয়ে বাংলা

ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্পে গত পাঁচ বছরে ব্যাঙ্ক থেকে সব থেকে বেশি ঋণ পেয়েছে বাংলা, যার পরিমাণ হল প্রায় ১৫ বিলিয়ন ডলার। এর পাশাপাশি ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানের সংখ্যা অনুসারেও পশ্চিমবঙ্গ দেশে দ্বিতীয় স্থানে। বাংলায় প্রায় ৩৭ লক্ষ ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠান আছে। প্রায় ৮৬ লক্ষ, ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্পের সঙ্গে যুক্ত রয়েছেন। প্রসঙ্গত এই ক্ষেত্রেও বাংলা দেশে দ্বিতীয় স্থানাধিকারী।

১৩. শৌচাগার নির্মাণে শীর্ষে বাংলা

অন্যান্য রাজ্যের তুলনায় শৌচাগার নির্মাণে সবথেকে এগিয়ে বাংলা। এর জন্য ইউনিসেফ-এর প্রশংসা কুড়িয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার।

১৪. পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নে জোর

পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নে ১২ হাজার কোটি টাকা খরচ করবে রাজ্য সরকার। ২০১৭-১৮ অর্থবর্ষের বাজেটে পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নের জন্য ধার্য আর্থিক লক্ষ্যমাত্রা ছাপিয়ে রাজ্য সরকার এই অতিরিক্ত ১২ হাজার কোটি টাকার সংস্থান করতে পেরেছে। এর পাশাপাশি রাজ্য জুড়ে ১৮০০০ কিলোমিটার নতুন গ্রামীণ রাস্তার সূচনা করা হয় মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হাতে।

১৫. মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর ইংল্যান্ড ও স্কটল্যান্ড সফর

লন্ডনে ভগিনী নিবেদিতার জন্মের সার্ধশতবর্ষ উদ্যাপন উপলক্ষে নিবেদিতার বাড়িতে স্মৃতিফলক উন্মোচনে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। স্কটল্যান্ডের এডিনবরাতে শিল্প বৈঠক করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। সেখান থেকে তিনি বাংলায় লগ্নির আহ্বান জানান। তুলে ধরেন রাজ্যের শিল্প সম্ভাবনার নানা দিক।

১৬. হোরাসিস বৈঠক কলকাতায়

শিল্পের বিষয়ে সুইজারল্যান্ডের আন্তর্জাতিক ‘থিঙ্ক ট্যাঙ্ক’, হোরাসিস তাদের প্রথম এশিয়া সম্মেলন করে কলকাতায়। এই সম্মেলনে ৬৫টি দেশের ৩৫০র বেশী কর্পোরেট লিডাররা যোগ দেন, যারা প্রতিষ্ঠাতা, মালিক, ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টর, প্রেসিডেন্টের মত মর্যাদাসম্পন্ন। এই সম্মেলনে বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বাংলায় বিনিয়োগের জন্য আহ্বান জানান শিল্পপতি ও শিল্পপ্রতিনিধিদের।

১৭. বাংলায় আসছে ইনফোসিস

বাংলায় বিনিয়োগ করছে তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি সংস্থা ইনফোসিস। জমির মালিকানা এবং ব্যবহারের ক্ষেত্রে ছাড় পেতে চলেছে দেশের অন্যতম সেরা তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি সংস্থাটি। ইনফোসিসকে পুরোপুরি ৫০ একর জমির মালিকানা (ফ্রি-হোল্ড) দেবে সরকার।

The Bengal Government will soon start providing more facilities to the tea garden workers, who have been facing a lot of hardship because of the forced closure of the tea gardens till a few months back.

The situation has been improving steadily, and now the government has decided to extend further help in the form of opening a health centre, a modified ration shop (MR shop), which is essentially a fair-price shop, and a labour office in each tea garden.

The three will be housed in a three-storey building, for constructing which the State Government will give Rs 8.77 lakh to each tea garden. Foodgrains which could not be distributed due to the 104-day closure of the gardens would be distributed at the earliest.

The government will also construct four warehouses to stock foodgrains in Darjeeling, Kurseong, Mirik and Kalimpong. In case foodgrains fail to arrive from the plains during emergencies like natural calamities, the public distribution system (PDS) will continue to operate with the help of the existing stock in these four storages.

Over the last year or so, following the special initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the State Government has provided a lot of help to the tea garden workers, including providing foodgrains at special prices, lesser than the normal prices at ration shops under the public distribution system (PDS).

চা বাগান কর্মীদের জন্য একগুচ্ছ উদ্যোগ রাজ্যের

রাজ্যের চা বাগান কর্মীদের জন্য একগুচ্ছ নতুন উদ্যোগ নিতে চলেছে রাজ্য সরকার। চা বাগান বন্ধ থাকার দরুন কর্মীদের যে সমস্যা হয়েছে তারই নিরসন করতে উদ্যোগী সরকার।

গত কয়েক মাসে কিছুটা হলেও অবস্থার উন্নতি হয়েছে এই বাগানগুলিতে। এদের আরও সাহায্য করতে রাজ্য সরকার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে বাগানগুলিতে একটি করে স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র, রেশনের দোকান, এবং লেবার অফিস খোলার।

এই তিনটি কেন্দ্রই খোলা হবে একটি ভবনে। এই ভবন নির্মাণের জন্য রাজ্য সরকার ৮.৭৭ লক্ষ টাকা করে দেবে প্রত্যেকটি চা বাগানকে।

অতি শীঘ্রই খাদ্যশস্যও বিতরণ করা হবে কর্মীদের মধ্যে। দার্জিলিং, কার্শিয়ং, মিরিক ও কালিম্পঙে খাদ্যশস্য যোগানের জন্য ৪টি গুদামও তৈরী করবে রাজ্য।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় চা বাগান কর্মীদের দুটাকা কেজি চাল দেওয়া হয় খাদ্য দপ্তরের তরফে।

The Bengal Government has decided to put into service 300 new buses, including electric buses, from December 1.

The service will start in phases. Both AC and non-AC buses are among the 300. The buses will be operated by all the three government-run transport companies – West Bengal Transport Corporation, North Bengal State Transport Corporation and South Bengal State Transport Corporation.

In the first phase, electric buses in Rajarhat and New Town and 156 other buses – on 156 routes, in both rural and urban areas – will start operating.

Among the 156 routes are eight new routes formulated by the Transport Department between Darjeeling and Mirik. This would give a major push to the transport infrastructure in the Hills region. These routes have been created considering the demand and needs of people residing there, according to the State Transport Minister.

Another initiative is to run mini buses on the Bardhaman- Durgapur-Asansol route. Other routes have been conceived taking into consideration connecting tourist spots of the state, among them being Motijheel, Hazarduari and Darjeeling.

 

৩০০টি নতুন বাস চালাবে রাজ্য সরকার

আগামী পয়লা ডিসেম্বর থেকে নতুন ৩০০টি বাস চালানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। এর মধ্যে থাকবে এসি, নন এসি, ইলেকট্রিক বাসও।এই পরিষেবা পর্যায়ক্রমে চালু হবে।

রাজ্য সরকারের তিনটি পরিবহণ সংস্থা – পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহণ নিগম, উত্তরবঙ্গ রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ সংস্থা ও দক্ষিণবঙ্গ রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ সংস্থা – এই বাসগুলি চালাবে।

প্রথম পর্যায়ে রাজারহাট ও নিউটাউনে ইলেকট্রিক বাস পরিষেবা চালু হবে। সাথে শহরাঞ্চল ও গ্রামবাংলার ১৫৬ টি রুটে আরও ১৫৬ টি বাস চলবে।

এই ১৫৬ টি নতুন রুটে রয়েছে দার্জিলিং ও মিরিক-এর ৮ টি রুট যার ফলে পাহাড়ে পরিবহণ ব্যবস্থা উন্নত হবে। এই রুটগুলি ওখানকার স্থানীয় মানুষদের কথা মাথায় রেখে তৈরি করা হয়েছে। পাশাপাশি বর্ধমান-দুর্গাপুর-আসানসোল রুটে মিনি বাস চালানোর উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে।অন্য রুটগুলি তৈরি করা হয়েছে রাজ্যের পর্যটন কেন্দ্রগুলির কথা মাথায় রেখে।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today marked the setting up of a Tourism Hub at Tiger Hill in Darjeeling. The Hub will be a boost to people of the area with more and more tourists being attracted to the place, famous for observing sunrise. Once this Hub is complete, people of the Hills living in the surrounding areas will be financially benefited, directly or indirectly.

The Bengal Government under Mamata Banerjee has provided primary focus on the tourism industry. New infrastructure has been created and as a result, the state has gain an increase in revenue through the increasing number 0f footfalls by the tourists, national and international.

The Bengal Chief Minister is on a visit to the Hills. On Monday, she held a meeting in Mirik and today she will be holding the State Cabinet meeting in the Hills for the first time.

 

পর্যটন হাব হবে টাইগার হিলে

বুধবার টাইগার হিল পরিদর্শনে যান মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সেখানে চালু হয়া প্রকল্পগুলির কাজ খতিয়ে দেখার পাশাপাশি নিজের হাতে চারাগাছও রোপণ করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

এদিন তিনি ঘোষণা করেন পর্যটন হাব হবে টাইগার হিলে । এই হাবটি তৈরী হলে শুধু যে উত্তরবঙ্গ বা রাজ্যের পর্যটন শিল্পে রাজ্যের আয় বাড়বে তাই নয়, পাশাপাশি আর্থিক সচ্ছলতা পাবে মিরিকবাসি ও পাহাড়ের অন্যান্য মানুষ জন যারা প্রত্যক্ষ বা পরোক্ষ ভাবে এই পর্যটন শিল্পে জড়িত।

২০১১ সাল থেকে ক্ষমতায় আসার পর থেকেই সমগ্র পশ্চিমবঙ্গে বিশেষ করে উত্তরবঙ্গে পর্যটন শিল্পে জোর দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। আর তার ফলস্বরূপ পশ্চিমবঙ্গে পর্যটন শিল্পের মাধ্যমে এসেছে প্রচুর রাজস্ব ও পাশাপাশি দেশী ও বিদেশী পর্যটকের সংখ্যাও এ রাজ্যে উল্লেখযোগ্য ভাবে বেড়েছে। সদ্যসমাপ্ত মিরিকে পৌর নির্বাচনে বোর্ড গড়েছে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস।

ঠিক তার পরেই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মিরিকে যান পাহাড়বাসীকে অভিনন্দন জানাতে। গত সোমবার তিনি মিরিকে জনসভা করেন ও মিরিকের উন্নয়নের জন্যও বহু কর্মসূচীর কথা ঘোষণা করেন। পাশাপাশি মিরিকবাসীকে অর্থনৈতিক ভাবে উন্নত করতে  জোর দেন পর্যটন শিল্পে।

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee began her visit to north Bengal today with a programme in Mirik.

She addressed an administrative review meeting at  Mirik today. She laid foundation stones and inaugurates a bouquet of developmental projects from today’s programme.

Trinamool Congress became the first mainstream political party to win an election in the Hills in almost three decades when it won the Municipal Board election in Mirik last month.

Recently, Kalimpong was declared the 21st district of the State and then Mirik was declared a sub-division.

  • They want to live in darkness. What do they want to do in darkness?
  • We will do special audit of the funds given to GTA. No one will be spared

আমি প্রতি মাসে পাহাড়ে আসি, এটা আমার বাড়ি:  মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আজ থেকে শুরু হল মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর পাহার সফর। প্রায় তিন দশক পর পাহাড়ে কোনও পুরসভায় জয় পেয়েছে সমতলের কোন দল।

ক্ষমতায় আসার পর থেকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হিসাবে যতবার পাহাড়ে গিয়েছেন, ততবারই পাহাড়বাসীর জন্য নিয়ে গিয়েছেন উন্নয়নের গুচ্ছডালি। এবারও তার ব্যতিক্রম হল না। তাঁর আহ্বানে সাড়া  দিয়েই এবার ‘সিলেকশন’ নয়, ‘ইলেকশনে’ অংশ নিয়ে গণতন্ত্রের প্রতি ভরসা দেখিয়েছে পাহাড়।

পাহাড়বাসীকে তাঁর প্রতি আস্থা রাখার জন্য এবং পাহাড়ে এক নতুন অধ্যায়ের সূচনার জন্য কৃতজ্ঞতা জানিয়ে আগামী আজ মিরিকে সভা করেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বেশ কিছু প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন ও শিলান্যাস করেন।

  • মিরিককে আলো দিয়ে সাজানোর জন্য ১০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হল
  • নেপালি ভাষাকে আমাদের সরকার স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছে। এখন পাবলিক সার্ভিস পরীক্ষাও নেপালি ভাষায় নেওয়া হয়
  • যারা নেপালি ভাষায় পড়াশোনা করতে চায় তারা তাই পড়বে। কেউ ইংলিশে পড়তে চাইলে পড়বে; সাথে বাংলাও পড়বে
  • নেপালে থাকলে যেমন নেপালি ভাষা জানা প্রয়োজন, তেমনই বাংলায় থাকলে বাংলা ভাষাও জানা দরকার
  • আমরা ত্রিভাষা নীতি চালু করেছি। যে কেউ তাঁর পছন্দমতো ভাষায় পড়তে পারেন কিন্তু সাথে বাংলাও পড়বে
  • আমি প্রতি মাসে পাহাড়ে আসি, এটা আমার বাড়ি
  • আমি চাই দার্জিলিং আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যটন কেন্দ্র হোক

  • আমরা পাহাড়ের মানুষের জন্য কাজ করতে চাই, কিন্তু ক্ষমতা GTA র হাতে
  • এখানকার কিছু নেতারা নিজেদের ভগবান মনে করেন। ওরা ভগবান নয় ‘শয়তান’
  • আজ কেউ কেউ আমায় ভয় দেখাতে চেয়েছিল। আমি সামনাসামনি কথা বলতেই পালিয়ে গেল
  • আমায় বন্দুক দেখিয়েও ভয় দেখানো যাবে না। কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘা কালো পতাকায় ঢাকা যাবেনা
  • কিছু মানুষ বিভিন্ন সম্প্রদায়ের মধ্যে বিভেদ সৃষ্টির চেষ্টা করছে। ওরা কি জানে পাহাড়ে কত রকমের ভাষা আছে?
  • সামনেই GTA নির্বাচন আসছে। ওরা তাই নেপালি ও বাঙালিদের মধ্যে বিভেদ তৈরীর চেষ্টা করছে
  • আমরা কখনো বলিনি পাহাড়ে বাংলা বাধ্যতামূলক করা হবে। এটা পুরো মিথ্যে কথা। আমরা মিথ্যে কথার রাজনীতি করি না
  • আমরা রাজনৈতিক প্রতিহিংসায় বিশ্বাস করি না। আইন আইনের পথে চলবে
  • ওরা বলছে লোডশেডিং করে দিতে। সবাইকে অন্ধকারে রাখবে। কেন?
  • ওরা গোর্খাল্যান্ডের নামে ভোট চায়। যে কোনো বিপর্যয়ের সময় আমি আপনাদের পাশে থেকেছি
  • ওরা চায় হোটেল বন্ধ হয়ে যাক, পর্যটকরা ফিরে যাক, সাধারণ মানুষের ক্ষতি হোক আর ওরা কমিশন পাবে
  • আমরা সাম্প্রদায়িকতা ও বিভাজনের রাজনীতিতে বিশ্বাস করি না। আমরা চাই পাহাড়ের মানুষ হাসুক
  • সরকার থেকে GTA যা টাকা পেয়েছে আমরা তার স্পেশাল অডিট করব। কাউকে রেয়াত করা হবে না

Trinamool Congress swept the municipal polls held in seven municipalities, winning in Mirik , Domkal, Pujali and Raiganj. People of Bengal have yet again reposed their faith on the development initiatives of Mamata Banerjee.

For the first time in decades, a party which is not based in the Hills has won majority in a municipality of the Hills. Trinamool won Mirik municipality and won several seats in Kurseong, Darjeeling and Kalimpong.

Trinamool retained their hold on Pujali municipality and wrested Raiganj municipality from Congress. Domkal, which is a new municipality, also came this way.

The people of Bengal have yet again rejected the opposition forces and ploys to play divisive politics.

 

After the results were declared Mamata Banerjee tweeted:

Congratulations to Ma Mati Manush for again & again putting their trust in us. We are honored, privileged & humbled.

Congratulations to my brothers/sisters in hill areas of Darjeeling Kurseong Kalimpong Mirik for participating in the democratic process.

Special thanks to Mirik for reposing faith in us. We will work sincerely for you.After so many decades we begin a new era in the hills.

The hills are smiling.

 

সাত পুরসভার ভোটেও তৃণমূলের জয়যাত্রা অব্যাহত

সাতটি পুরসভার ভোটের ফলাফল বেরোতেই পাহাড় থেকে সমতল সব জায়গাতেই তৃণমূলের জয়জয়কার। সাতটির মধ্যে ৪টি পুরসভায় বিপুল ব্যবধানে জয়ী তৃণমূল। সমতলে পূজালি, রায়গঞ্জ ও ডোমকলে জয়ী দল।

পাহাড়ে এই প্রথম খাতা খুলল তৃণমূল। মিরিক পুরসভার দখল নিল দল। কার্শিয়ং, দার্জিলিং ও কালিম্পঙেও খাতা খুলেছে তৃণমূল।

বাংলার মা, মাটি, মানুষ আবারও বিরোধীদের কুৎসার রাজনীতিকে নস্যাৎ করে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উন্নয়নকেই বেছে নিলেন।

নির্বাচনের ফলাফল ঘোষণার পর মুখ্যমন্ত্রী টুইট করে মা-মাটি-মানুষকে অভিনন্দন জানান।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has instructed Information Technology, agriculture, horticulture and floriculture sectors to generate employment and economically uplift the people of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. The Tea Park in New Jalpaiguri will also become operational soon, she said.

An administrative review meeting of Kalimpong and Darjeeling districts was held at the Pintail Village on Wednesday. Addressing media persons after the meet, the Chief Minister stated: “Along with the circuit-wise review of tourism projects in great detail, we also feel that IT sector, agriculture, floriculture, horticulture and food processing have great prospects in employment generation and economic upsurge in the Hills.

I have asked the Agriculture, Animal Resource Development and Industries department to look into this. I have also instructed the Secretary of the Information Technology department to prepare IT projects for the Hills.”

The Chief Minister stated that tourism projects including the ones at Gajaldoba and Tiger Hill were discussed in detail in the presence of Tourism Minister Gautam Deb and the Chief Secretary.

“We have discussed different projects in connection to roads, drinking water and electricity,” stated the CM. As many as five road-over bridges will come up in Jalpaiguri and four in Siliguri. New electricity sub-stations will be constructed at Sonada, Bagdogra, Kawakhali and Purbo Karaibari.  “We are also improving road connectivity with bordering countries — Bhutan and Nepal. We have already spent Rs 750 crore on a four-lane highway,” she further stated.

বুধবার দার্জিলিং জেলার পিন্টাইল ভিলেজে দার্জিলিং ও কালিম্পঙ জেলার প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় তথ্য প্রযুক্তি, কৃষি, উদ্যান পালন ও ফুল চাষে জোর দেন যাতে মানুষের কর্মসংস্থান হয়। নিউ জলপাইগুড়িতে টি-পার্কেও কিছুদিনের মধ্যে কাজ শুরু হবে বলে তিনি জানান।

বৈঠকের শেষে সাংবাদিকের তিনি বলেন, “পর্যটনের ওপরেও জোর দেওয়া হচ্ছে। বিভিন্ন পর্যটন সার্কিট গড়ার ভাবনা রয়েছে রাজ্যের। এ ছাড়াও, তথ্য প্রযুক্তি, কৃষি, ফুল চাষ, উদ্যান পালন ও খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরন এই সকল ক্ষেত্রে কর্মসংস্থানের মাধ্যমে পাহাড়ের অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়নের সুযোগ রয়েছে।”

গাজোলডোবা ও টাইগার হিলের পর্যটন প্রকল্পগুলি নিয়েও আলোচনা হয় বৈঠকে।

“আমরা সড়ক যোগাযোগ, পানীয় জল ও বিদ্যুতের প্রকল্পগুলি নিয়েও আলোচনা করেছি” মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন। সোনাদা, বাগডোগরা, কাওাখালি ও পূর্ব করাইবাড়িতে গড়া হবে ইলেকট্রিক সাব-স্টেশন। প্রতিবেশী দেশগুলির সাথেও সড়ক যোগাযোগে জোর দেওয়া হচ্ছে বলে জানান মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

The Chief Minister declared Mirik a sub-division of Darjeeling district at an official programme today.  Mirik was earlier a block under the Darjeeling district.

Mirik is an important tourist destination and several lakh tourists visit the hill town every year for its beautiful lake.

During her speech, the Chief Minister said that earlier people had to commute for hours to Kurseong or Darjeeling for administrative work. Hailing the day as ‘historic’ she said she wants development for the Hills and employment for the youth.

She also commented that while the State Government has provided all help to GTA, they have even failed to renovate the Mirik Lake. The CM said that her thrust is on tourism and Bengal is incomplete without the Hills. “We do not believe in speeches. We believe in actions.,” Mamata Banerjee added.

 

মিরিককে মহকুমা ঘোষণা করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আজ মিরিককে দার্জিলিং জেলার মহকুমা ঘোষণা করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এর আগে মিরিক দার্জিলিং জেলার একটি ব্লক ছিল।

মিরিক একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পর্যটন কেন্দ্র এবং প্রতি বছর বহু পর্যটক এখানে বেড়াতে আসেন।

বক্তব্য রাখার সময় মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, আগে মানুষকে যেকোন সরকারী কাজের জন্য কার্শিয়াং, দার্জিলিঙে যেতে হত, এখন সেই সমস্যা মিটবে। আজকের দিনটিকে ঐতিহাসিক আখ্যা দিয়ে তিনি বলেন, “আমরা পাহাড়ের উন্নয়ন চাই, আমরা চাই পাহাড়ের যুবসম্প্রদায়ের কর্মসংস্থান হোক”।

তিনি আরও বলেন উন্নয়নের জন্য জিটিএ কে সব রকম সাহায্য করা সত্ত্বেও ওরা এখনও মিরিক লেক সংস্কার করেনি। রাজ্য সরকার পর্যটনে জোর দিচ্ছে, মহোম-ট্যুরিজম, ইকো- ট্যুরিজমেও জোর দেওয়া হয়েছে। লামাহাটায় পর্যটনের বিকাশ হয়েছে। টাইগার হিলে নতুন প্রকল্প শুরু হয়েছে। তাঁর কথায়, “ভাষণ নয়, কাজ করে দেখাতে হবে”।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee began her north Bengal tour today.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister will hold the administrative review meeting for Jalpaiguri district at Sarojendra Deb Raykat Kala Kendra. The CM will inaugurate several projects and lay the foundation stones of some new projects.  She will also be distributing benefits among people of the district.

The CM will attend the administrative review meeting for Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts on Wednesday. On Thursday she will declare Mirik as a new sub-division.

 

পাঁচ দিনের উত্তরবঙ্গ সফরে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আজ থেকে পাঁচ দিনের সফরে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি পৌঁছলেন উত্তরবঙ্গে।

মঙ্গলবার জলপাইগুড়ি সরোজেন্দ্রদেব রায়কত কলাকেন্দ্রে একটি প্রশাসনিক বৈঠক করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। এরপর জলপাইগুড়ি বিশ্ববাংলা ক্রীড়াঙ্গন প্রাঙ্গণে একটি সরকারি অনুষ্ঠান রয়েছে। বিশ্ব বাংলা ক্রীড়াঙ্গনে আয়োজিত এই অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়েই বিভিন্ন সরকারি প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করবেন তিনি।

আগামী ৩০ মার্চ মিরিকের মেলা গ্রাউন্ডে আয়োজিত একটি অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়ে মিরিককে মহকুমা হিসেবে ঘোষণা করার কথাও রয়েছে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর। এর আগের দিন পাহাড়ের উন্নয়নমূলক বিষয় নিয়ে শিলিগুড়িতে একটি প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকও করতে পারেন তিনি। ‌‌
