For us, INDIA means UNITY: Mamata Banerjee

On the eve of the 75th anniversary of Independence Day, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee changed her display picture on Twitter. The picture shows some of the most famous freedom fighters of the country along with a stylised national flag. There are Mahatma Gandhi, Rishi Aurobindo, Raja Ram Mohun Roy, Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and others.

She tweeted the following:

INDIA… Where diversity THRIVES despite differences.
INDIA… Where people of varied cultures and religions peacefully COEXIST.
INDIA… Where democratic values and people’s rights are UPHELD.
Yes, this is our INDIA!

Aren’t we all the proud people of this beautifully diverse land?
For us, INDIA means UNITY.
But, our ideas vary.

Bengal CM felicitates police personnel with Police Medal for Commendable Service on Independence Day

The Bengal Government today celebrated the 71st Independence Day in a befitting matter. The ceremonial march past and celebration of Independence Day was held in a befitting manner at Red Road, Kolkata on Tuesday.

Contingents from police, personnel in uniform, school students, cultural and sports groups, tableaus from various departments on themes like Safe Drive Save Life, Kanyashree, Saboojshree, Sabujsathi, Khadyasathi, Biswa Bangla and so many others took part in the beautiful event attended by a huge enthusiastic gathering and distinguished persons from all walks of life.

Outstanding police officers were decorated with Police Medals for distinguished service.

Police personnel Arnab Ghosh, Sukesh Jain, Kalyan Mukhopadhyay, Pranab Ghosh Dastidar and Salil Kumar Roy were awarded Police Medal for Commendable Service by the Bengal Chief Minister.

 

স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে পুলিশকর্মীদের পুরস্কৃত করলেন বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

গতকাল রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে সাড়ম্বরে পালিত হল ৭১তম স্বাধীনতা দিবস। কলকাতার রেড রোডে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় কুচকাওয়াজ। অসাধারণ কৃতিত্বের জন্য পুলিশকর্মীদের পুরস্কৃত করেন বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

অর্ণব ঘোষ, সুকেশ জৈন, কল্যাণ মুখোপাধ্যায়, প্রনব ঘোষ দস্তিদার এবং সলিল কুমার রায় কে পুলিশ মেডালে ভূষিত করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

স্বাধীনতা দিবসের কুচকাওয়াজে অংশগ্রহণ করেন পুলিশকর্মী, স্কুলপড়ুয়া থেকে শুরু সাংস্কৃতিক ও ক্রীড়া জগতের নানা মানুষ।  রাজ্য সরকারের বিভিন্ন দপ্তরের ট্যাবোলোও ছিল অনুষ্ঠানের আকর্ষণ। সরকারের বিভিন্ন প্রকল্প তুলে ধরা হয় ট্যাবলোর মাধ্যমে, যেমন সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ, কন্যাশ্রী, সবুজশ্রী, সবুজসাথী, খাদ্যসাথী, বিশ্ব বাংলা।

 

West Bengal celebrates Independence Day

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unfurled the tricolour as the state celebrated the 69th Independence Day on Saturday.

Sportspersons and luminaries form the world of art, culture, music and cinema participated in a colourful parade accompanied by tableaus depicting the state’s cultural heritage.

As the colourful tableaus went pase, a helicopter showered flower petals on people gathered to witness the celebrations.

A tableau of Kanyashree Prakalpa, a flagship project for the girl child, was a part of the parade.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Banerjee conferred the Police Medals to outstanding IPS officers.

After the Trinamool Congress came to power in 2011, Mamata Banerjee changed the location of the Independence Day event to Red Road from Writers’ Building, the state secretariat. She also started Independence Day parades.

WB CM’s message on Independence Day

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Chairperson Ms Mamata Banerjee participated in the ‘Freedom at Midnight’ programme at the stroke of midnight on 15 August.

“This historic moment of our freedom fills our heart with joy, honour and glory. We are proud of our country. We are proud of our Independence,” she wrote on Facebook.

“Let us think with unity, speak with unity and work with unity. We resolve to re-dedicate ourselves to the cause of our nation and to the service for all my brothers and sisters,” was her message to all on Independence Day.

“Happy Independence Day and heartiest greetings and best wishes to all. Sare Jahan Se Accha …” she wrote on Twitter.
