Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today reached Cooch Behar for her district tours. She inaugurated the ‘Utsav’ auditorium in Cooch Behar. She also chaired the administrative review meeting for the district in the same auditorium. She took stock of the progress of the ongoing projects during the administrative review meeting.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister will be addressing a public meeting during which she will be distributing different benefits among the residents of Cooch Behar. She will also be inaugurating some projects and also lay foundation stones of many more projects to ensure further development of the district. The benefits distribution programme has been organised at Rashmela Ground in Cooch Behar.

After her programme in Cooch Behar, she is scheduled to visit Dooars where she will chair the administrative review meetings for Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts.

Night market to open in Kolkata

On August 14, a new type of market is going to be inaugurated in Kolkata – night market. The idea for such a market has come from the popular night markets in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Kolkata Municipal Development Authority (KMDA) is in charge of constructing and maintaining the place. It will come up near Abhishikta Crossing, stretching from the area near a private hospital in Kasba on EM Bypass up to Kalikapur.

According to a senior official of KMDA, the place will remain open from 6pm to 1am or from 10pm to 3am, on Fridays and Saturdays; it has not been finalised yet.

To popularise it, the market will be kept open for four continuous from the day of inauguration – August 14. On these four days, there will be cultural performances as well.

As per plans, there will be 75 stalls. All sorts of goods of daily needs (both grocery and vegetables) as well as handicrafts from across Bengal will be available at the night market. In fact, the KMDA official said, the latter will form the major attraction of the market.

There will also be readymade food stalls with dinner arrangements, along with arrangements for resting after shopping. All in all, it is expected to be a novel experience.

This will be the second unique marketing experience for the city-dwellers after the floating market in Patuli. Like with the Patuli market, the night market too is part of efforts to rehabilitate hawkers removed for widening of the EM Bypass.

The State Public Works Department (PWD) constructed 247.99 per cent more roads in the first seven years of the Trinamool Congress regime as compared to the last seven years of the Left Front regime.

This was stated by the PWD Minister in the Assembly while presenting the department’s Budget. He said that such a huge task has been carried out by maintaining transparency and quality.

From 2004 to April 2011, the PWD constructed only 1,375.52 km of state roads and 4,058.20 km of other roads. On the other hand, since the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress took up the reins of governance, 3,535.89 km of state roads and 9,939.11 km of other roads have been built. Thus 247.99 per cent more roads have been constructed between 2011 and January 2018.

Secondly, the Left Front Government built only 76 bridges in seven years’ time while the Trinamool Congress Government constructed 109 bridges. Additionally, 52 are under construction and tender process is going on for another 13 bridges.

Another fact is that the amounts allotted in the planned budget and the amounts invested by the two governments also show a wide difference. While the planned budget of the Left Front Government was Rs 5,515.08 crore and they had utilised around Rs 3,284 crore, the present government has invested much more – a planned budget of Rs 13,001.08 crore, and timely implementation of different projects has led to an investment of an even bigger amount – Rs 13,898.81 crore.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has constantly stressed on the importance of constructing roads as roads lead to development and growth, be it economic or social.

তৃণমূল আমলে গতি পেয়েছে রাস্তা ও সেতু তৈরী

তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস সরকারের সাত বছরের শাসনকালে রাজ্য পূর্ত দপ্তর যে পরিমাণ রাস্তা তৈরী করেছে, তা বাম আমলের শেষ সাত বছরে তৈরী রাস্তার তুলনায় প্রায় আড়াই গুণ। এই তথ্য পূর্ত মন্ত্রী তুলে ধরেন বিধানসভায় বাজেট পেশ করার সময়।

তিনি বলেন, এই বিপুল কাজ দপ্তর করেছে সম্পূর্ণ স্বচ্ছতার সঙ্গে ও কাজের মানের সঙ্গে কোনও সমঝোতা না করে।

২০০৪ থেকে ২০১১ সালে পূর্ত দপ্তর ১৩৭৫.৫২ কিঃমিঃ রাজ্য সড়ক ও ৪০৫৮.২ কিঃমিঃ অন্যান্য রাস্তা তৈরী করেছিল। অন্যদিকে, তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস সরকার গঠন করার পর ৩৫৩৫.৮৯ কিঃমিঃ রাজ্য সড়ক ও ৯৯৩৯.১১ কিঃমিঃ অন্যান্য রাস্তা তৈরী করেছে পূর্ত দপ্তর। এই পরিমাণটি বাম আমলের শেষ সাত বছরের তুলনায় ২৪৭.৯৯ শতাংশ।

দ্বিতীয়ত, বাম সরকার শেষ সাত বছরে তৈরী করেছিল মাত্র ৭৬টি সেতু। তৃণমূল সরকার গত সাত বছরে তৈরী করেছে ১০৯টি সেতু। এছাড়াও ৫২টি সেতু তৈরী হচ্ছে এবং ১৩টি সেতুর টেন্ডার প্রক্রিয়া চলছে।

এছাড়াও পরিকল্পিত বাজেটে বরাদ্দ করা টাকা ও যে টাকা ব্যয় করেছে দুই সরকার, তাতেও যথেষ্ট ব্যবধান আছে। যেখানে বাম সরকারের পরিকল্পিত বাজেট ছিল ৫৫১৫.০৮ কোটি টাকা ও ব্যয় করা হয়েছিল ৩২৮৪ কোটি টাকা। সেখানে বর্তমান সরকারের এই খাতে পরিকল্পিত বাজেট ১৩০০১.০৮ কোটি টাকা ও সময়মত কাজ শেষ করার জন্য এই খাতে ব্যয় হয়েছে ১৩৮৯৮.৮১ কোটি টাকা।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় সবসময় সড়ক নির্মাণে জোর দিয়েছেন, কারন, সড়ক নির্মাণের ফলে শুধু যে যাতায়াতে সুবিধা হয়, তাই নয়, এর ফলে অর্থনৈতিক ও সামাজিক উন্নয়নও হয়।

Like every year, this year too Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee released her books at the 2018 Kolkata International Book Fair (KIBF). Nine of her books released this year.

With these nine, the total number of books penned by the Chief Minister would touch 79. Many of these have been translated into English and Urdu too.

Maa, Mati, Manush is a collection of her poems published in Hindi by Rajkamal Prakashan, another book written in Ol-Chiki script published by the Paschim Banga Santali Academy. The other books of the Chief Minister were published by Dey Publishing. The other book penned by the Chief Minister was Savera which is written in Urdu. My Journey is an English book written by the Chief Minister depicting the days of her struggle.

The rest five are in Bengali — Sishu Bela, a book for children, Asahishnuta, Rudraksha, a collection of her poems, Amar Naba Prajanma and Banglar Kanyashree Aaj Viswajaye, which depicts how school students have benefitted from the Kanyashree scheme, a brainchild of the Chief Minister.

Many of Mamata Banerjee’s books have been translated to English and Urdu.

 

 

বইমেলায় এবার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর আরও ৯টি বই

বিগত কয়েক বছরের মত এবছরের বইমেলাতেও পাওয়া যাবে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের লেখা বই। ২০১৮র কলকাতা আন্তর্জাতিক বইমেলাতে প্রকাশিত হতে চলেছে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর আরও ৯টি নতুন বই। সব মিলিয়ে তাঁর লেখা বইয়ের সংখ্যা ৭৯ ছুঁতে চলেছে।

ইতিমধ্যেই মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের আঁকা ছবি, লেখা কবিতা, ছড়া, গল্প, প্রবন্ধ বাংলা তথা ভারতের বহু মানুষের মনে দাগ কেটেছে।

বাংলা ‘মা মাটি মানুষ’ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সংগ্রামী কবিতার হিন্দী সঙ্কলন যা প্রকাশ করছে রাজকমল প্রকাশন। আরেকটা বই প্রকাশিত হচ্ছে অলচিকি হরফে যা পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সাঁওতালি আকাদেমি প্রকাশ করছে। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বাকি বইগুলি প্রকাশ করেছে দে’জ পাবলিশিং। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর লেখা অন্যান্য বইগুলি হল, সভেরা যা লেখা হয়েছে উর্দু ভাষায়। ‘মাই জার্নি’ আরেকটি ইংরাজি বই যা মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নিজের লেখা নিজের সংগ্রামের দিনগুলিকে নিয়ে।

বাকি পাঁচটি বই বাংলায় লেখা – শিশুদের জন্য লেখা শিশু বেলা, কবিতার সঙ্কলন অসহিষ্ণুতা, রুদ্রাক্ষ, এ ছাড়া আমার নব প্রজন্ম, বাংলার কন্যাশ্রী আজ বিশ্বজয়ী, যাতে লেখা আছে স্কুল পড়ুয়ারা কীভাবে কন্যাশ্রীর মাধ্যমে উপকৃত হয়েছে যে প্রকল্পটি সম্পূর্ণ মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর মস্তিস্ক প্রসূত।

মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় তাঁর দীর্ঘ রাজনৈতিক জীবনের অভিজ্ঞতা, একাধিক আন্দোলনের সাফল্য যেমন তাঁর বইয়ের বিষয় হয়েছে, তেমনই নিজের একান্ত অনুভূতিগুলিকেও কখনও গদ্যে, কখনও কবিতার মাধ্যমে তুলে ধরেছেন। আর এসব অনুভূতিগুলি আবারও ৯টি নতুন বইয়ের আকারে বইমেলার আকর্ষণ হতে চলেছে।

Investment proposals worth nearly Rs 2.2 lakh crore were received at Bengal Global Business Summit, 2018, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced. The figures are expected to go up, she commented.

The CM also mentioned that based on the proposals received, 20 lakh jobs will be created in sectors like Manufacturing, IT, Cement, Services, Tourism, Infrastructure, Skill Development, Health & Education. She also said that Bengal was facing legacy issues but accountability, transparency and dedication were the credentials of her government.

The next edition of the summit will be held on 7-8 February, 2019.

Highlights of the Chief Minister’s speech:

Thank you so much for joining us on the second day of the summit. I extend warm welcome to all the delegates from all over the world.

It is because of your humble, kind presence that this summit became so hugely successful. Your presence is our inspiration.

We are deeply honoured by the presence of all the foreign delegates. We want to congratulate all of you. More than 4000 delegates from 32 countries participated.

Without a vision, the world cannot survive.

Over 1040 B2B meetings took place in these two days. B2G meetings also took place. 110 MoUs will be signed. This is a great achievement.

Bengal is the gateway to NE India and ASEAN countries. I have already spoken about it. Bengal has a strategic location.

Within two years, connectivity in Bengal will be exceptional with the metro network.

Bengal is the cultural capital. We are a hub of education.

We are No. 1 in skill development, MSME, agriculture, e-governance. In ease of doing business, we are No. 1 in India.

For 34 years, Left Front Govt ruled Bengal. We are facing a legacy. Our accountability, transparency and dedication is our credibility.

We have land bank, land use policy, land map. We have export policy, agriculture policy, business policy, tourism policy.

We maintain the best of relations with the industry. Our captains of industry are our ambassadors.

We have received investment proposals worth about Rs 2.2 lakh crore. This figure will only go up.

Based on the proposals received, more than twenty lakh employment will be generated in several sectors, including mobile, manufacturing and startups.

Bengal government is a friendly government. We are ready to extend all cooperation.
Industry and agriculture are equally important. We give priority to both.

On 7 February, 2019, we will organise World Business Summit. On 8 February, 2019, we will organise the conclave.

২০ লক্ষ কর্মসংস্থান হবে: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

২০১৮ সালের বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলনে প্রায় ২.২ লক্ষ কোটি টাকার বিনিয়োগ প্রস্তাব এসেছে। বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলনের দ্বিতীয় দিনে একথা ঘোষণা করেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এই সংখ্যা আরো বাড়তে পারে বলেn মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

প্রাপ্ত প্রস্তাবের উপর ভিত্তি করে সব মিলিয়ে প্রায় ২০ লক্ষ কর্মসংস্থান হবে। উৎপাদন, আইটি, সিমেন্ট, সেবা, পর্যটন, পরিকাঠামো, দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন, স্বাস্থ্য ও শিক্ষা ক্ষেত্রে কর্মসংস্থান হবে।

আগামী বছর বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলন হবে ৭ ও ৮ ই ফেব্রুয়ারি।

তাঁর বক্তব্যের কিছু বিষয়:

আজ বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলনের দ্বিতীয় দিন। উপস্থিত সকলকে অনেক অনেক ধন্যবাদ। সারা বিশ্বের সকল প্রতিনিধিদের আমি স্বাগত জানাই।

আপনাদের উপস্থিতি এই সম্মলনকে সফল করে তুলেছে। আপনাদের উপস্থিতি আমাদের অনুপ্রেরণা।

৩২ টি দেশের ৪০০০ এরও বেশি প্রতিনিধি এখানে অংশগ্রহণ করেছেন, এটা আমাদের কাছে গর্বের বিষয়। সকলকে আমার অনেক অভিনন্দন।

এই দুই দিনে ১০৪০ এরও বেশি বিটুবি বৈঠক হয়েছে। বেশ কিছু বিটুজি বৈঠকও হয়েছে। ১১০ টি মউ স্বাক্ষরিত হবে। এটি একটি বিশাল পাওনা.

বাংলা হল উত্তর পূর্ব ও আশিয়ান দেশগুলির গেটওয়ে। একথা আমি আগেও বলেছি। বাংলার ভৌগোলিক অবস্থান গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

২ বছরের মধ্যে মেট্রো নেটওয়ার্ক সম্প্রসারণের মাধ্যমে বাংলার যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা উন্নত হবে।

বাংলা সংস্কৃতির পীঠস্থান। শিক্ষার একটি হাব আমাদের রাজ্য।

দক্ষতা বিকাশ, ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্প ক্ষেত্রে, কৃষি, ই-গভর্র্ন্যান্স ও শিল্প গড়ার সুবিধায় ভারতের মধ্যে বাংলা ১ নম্বরে।

৩৪ বছর বাংলায় অপশাসন চালিয়েছে বাম সরকার। বিশ্বাসযোগ্যতা, স্বচ্ছতা এবং দায়িত্বশীলতা – আমাদের মন্ত্র।

আমাদের ল্যান্ড ব্যাংক, ল্যান্ড পলিসি রয়েছে। এছাড়া আমাদের এক্সপোর্র্ট নীতি, কৃষি নীতি, বাণিজ্য নীতি ও পর্যটন নীতিও রয়েছে।

শিল্পপতিদের সঙ্গে আমাদের সম্পর্ক খুব ভালো। শিল্পপতিরাই আমাদের অ্যাম্বাসেডর।

এবছর প্রায় ২.২ লক্ষ কোটি টাকার বিনিয়োগ প্রস্তাব এসেছে। এই সংখ্যা আরো বাড়বে।

প্রাপ্ত প্রস্তাবের উপর ভিত্তি করে, মোবাইল, উত্পাদন এবং স্টার্ট আপ সহ বেশ কয়েকটি সেক্টরে ২০ লাখেরও বেশি কর্মসংস্থান হবে।

বাংলার সরকার বন্ধু সরকার। আমরা সব রকম সহযোগিতা করতে প্রস্তুত।

কৃষি ও শিল্প দুইই সমান গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

আগামী বছর বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলন হবে ৭ ও ৮ ই ফেব্রুয়ারি। ৭ ই ফেব্রুয়ারি হবে বিশ্ব বাণিজ্য সম্মেলন আর ৮ই ফেব্রুয়ারি অনুষ্ঠিত হবে কনক্লেভ।

বাংলায় আসুন। বিনিয়োগ করুন, শিল্প গড়ুন।

The cement factory of the JSW Group at Salboni was inaugurated today by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The factory will create employment for hundreds of people.

It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister had inaugurated the commencement of construction of the 2.4 metric tonne (MT)-capacity cement factory at Salboni in Paschim Medinipur on January 6 in 2016. The cement factory has come up on an 134-acre plot at a cost of Rs 800 crore.

This was a landmark event ahead of the Bengal Global Business Summit, to be held on January 16 and 17.

It may be recalled that during the inauguration of the commencement of construction of the cement plant, the JSW Group had also announced its plans to invest around Rs 10,000 crore to set up a power plant and a paint manufacturing factory at Salboni where the group has acquired around 4,000 acres of land.

 

Highlights of the Chief Minister’s speech:

The work for this project has been completed ahead of time. These projects would lead to more opportunities for employment.

Bengal Global Business Summit begins tomorrow. I am inviting everyone to be a part of the summit.

45 lakh girls have received Kanyashree scholarships. 57 lakh SC/ST students have been given Sikshashree scholarships.

As per the Sabuj Shree Scheme, a sapling is handed over to the mothers of every child born.

Through the Samabyathi Scheme, Rs 2,000 is given to the kith and kin of the deceased for performing the last rites.

Eight lakh people in the state are given rice and wheat (atta) at Rs 2 per kg.

Healthcare is free in all government hospitals and health centres in Bengal.

We have distributed 70 lakh bicycles to students from Class IX to XII.

The funds for ASHA and ICDS projects have been stopped by the Central Government. It is because of the State Government that these essential projects, meant for the masses, are continuing.

ASHA and ICDS volunteers have been brought under the Swasthya Sathi insurance scheme.

Some people are conspiring to stop others from earning an honest livelihood. But one cannot be forced to obey their orders. Our government, on the other hand, is completely transparent. We do not resort to any dishonesty or conspiracy.

The flood-affected farmers have been given a total aid of Rs 1,200 crore. I want farmers to live well.

To enable self-help groups to thrive, we have arranged for them to get adequate loans from cooperative banks.

On January 29, 5 lakh people would be handed over houses of their own.

On February 2, we will lay the foundation stone for 7,500 km rural roads.

We would be saving 25 per cent of the money allocated to various departments and would be using it for road-laying and drinking water projects.

We have provided employment opportunities to 81 lakh youth.

Today, Bengal is the number one state in MSME, 100-Days’ Work, skill training and e-tendering. Bengal is a global model because of Kanyashree.

Our students are our pride.

We have created projects for every category of people. We have given fish vans, dhamsa madol (implying State Government aid to folk artistes), patta (land deeds), football (implying the distribution of the State Government’s Joyee brand of football among clubs and organizations, and organising tournaments like the hugely successful Jangalmahal Cup), tractors (implying help to farmers for buying or renting farm equipment) and much more.

We want people to live well. Bengal in general is large-hearted and we, the government, are proud of that.

Let more industrial units open in Salboni. Let the tide of development wash over the whole district (Paschim Medinipur).

Without you all beside me, I am nothing, with you all, I am whole. Taking everyone along is what life is all about, trying to go alone would grind life to a halt.

Bengal would be the pride of the whole world.

 

আজ শালবনিতে সিমেন্ট কারখানা উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

নতুন বছরে শালবনির মানুষের কাছে খুশির খবর। জানুয়ারি মাসের মাঝামাঝি সময়েই চালু হতে চলেছে জিন্দালদের সিমেন্ট কারখানা। আজ এই কারখানা উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি। উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন  সজ্জন জিন্দাল, সিমেন্ট কারখানার ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টর পার্থ জিন্দাল–সহ রাজ্যের অন্যান্য মন্ত্রী ও সরকারি কর্মকর্তারা।

জিন্দালদের এই সিমেন্ট কারখানা রাজ্যের শিল্পে একটি মাইলস্টোন। প্রথমে এখানে ২৫০ জনের কর্মসংস্থান হবে। পরে নিয়োগ করা হবে আরও ৬০০ জনকে। সভা থেকে ২৫০০ জন উপভোক্তার হাতে বিভিন্ন সরকারি প্রকল্পের সহায়তা প্রদান করেন।

২০১৬ সালে সিমেন্ট কারখানার ভিত্তিপ্রস্তর স্থাপন করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি। এখন ১৫০ একর জমিতে তৈরি হয়েছে সিমেন্ট কারখানা।

সেই বছরের ১২ জুলাই এখান থেকে সিমেন্ট বোঝাই একটি গাড়ি যায় তারাপীঠে। এই কারখানা থেকে বছরে ২৪ লক্ষ টন সিমেন্ট উৎপাদন হবে। পরে তা বাড়বে।

আশা ও আই সি ডি এস এর মেয়েদের ভুল বোঝানো হচ্ছে। আশা ও আই সি ডি এস এর প্রজেক্ট বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার। রাজ্য সরকার এই প্রজেক্টগুলি চালাচ্ছে। রাজ্য এগিয়ে না এলে এগুলো বন্ধ হয়ে যেত

আশা ও আই সি ডি এস এর কর্মীদের স্বাস্থ্য সাথী প্রকল্পের আওতায় আনা হয়েছে। এগুলো জনগণের প্রজেক্ট। কেউ কেউ চক্রান্ত করে মানুশের ইনকামের পথ বন্ধ করে দিচ্ছে।

মানুষ ওদের কথা শুনতে বাধ্য নয়। আমাদের সরকার সবার জন্য। আমাদের সরকার কন অবিচার করে না। আমরা কোন বেআইনি, অন্যায্য কাজ করি না।

বন্যায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত কৃষকদের ১২০০ কোটি টাকা দেওয়া হয়েছে। আমি চাই আমার কৃষকরা ভাল থাকুক। স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলি যাতে বেশি করে ঋণ পায় সেজন্য আমরা কো অপারেটিভ ব্যাঙ্ককে ইনভলভ করছি.

আগামী ২৯ জানুয়ারি ৫ লক্ষ মানুষকে বাড়ি দেওয়া হবে। আগামী ২ ফেব্রুয়ারি সাড়ে ৭ হাজার কিলোমিটার রাস্তার শিলান্যাস করব।

আমরা সরকারের ২৫% টাকা বাঁচিয়ে তা দিয়ে রাস্তা ও পানীয় জল প্রকল্পের কাজে ব্যবহার করা হবে।

৮১ লক্ষ বেকার যুবককে চাকরি দেওয়া হয়েছে।

এম এস এম ই,  ১০০ দিনের কাজে, স্কিল ট্রেনিং এ, ই টেন্ডারিং-এ বাংলা আজ এক নম্বরে। কন্যাশ্রীতে বাংলা বিশ্বের মধ্যে এক নম্বরে।

আমাদের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা আমাদের গর্ব। সকলের জন্য আমরা প্রকল্প করে দিয়েছি। মৎস্য ভ্যান, ধামসা মাদল, পাট্টা, ফুটবল, ট্র্যাক্টর সব দেওয়া হচ্ছে।

আমরা চাই মানুষ ভাল থাকুক।বাংলায় অনেক আন্তরিকতা আছে, একে আমি সম্মান জানাই।

শালবনিতে আরো অনেক শিল্প আসুক।সমগ্র জেলা জুড়ে উন্নয়নের বিপ্লব হোক।

আপনারা ছাড়া আমি শূন্য, আপনাদের নিয়েই আমি পূর্ণ। সবাইকে নিয়ে চলার নামই জীবন।আর একা চলার নাম থেমে যাওয়া।

2The State Cooperation Minister has announced recently that cooperative banks are going to be set up in 250 more villages across Bengal. Now there are 710 gram panchayats without any banks.

Cooperative banks are the primary banking institutions in rural regions, as bigger government and private banks cannot afford to serve such small populations. Hence it is crucial that more such banks are set up.

On December 6, a first-of-its-kind meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee where all the district cooperative bank chairpersons were present, as well as some of the senior ministers and State Government officials. This decision is an outcome of that meeting.

The 250 villages selected are those which are isolated, and hence most in need. People from these villages will have easy accessibility to loans from these banks, and interest rates of cooperative banks are not that high.

Currently, there are 29,000 cooperative banks in Bengal.

২৫০টি গ্রামে সমবায় ব্যাঙ্ক গড়বে রাজ্য

রাজ্যের ৭১০টি গ্রামে কোনও ব্যাঙ্ক নেই। কয়েক কিলোমিটার দূরে যেতে হয় টাকা জমাতে। গরিব মানুষের সঞ্চয়ের ইচ্ছায় বাধ সেধছে দূরত্ব। তাই এবার গ্রামে গ্রামে সমবায় ব্যাঙ্ক গড়বে রাজ্য। আপাতত ২৫০টি গ্রামে এই সমবায় গড়ার সিদ্ধান্ত হয়েছে। এ কথা জানিয়েছেন সমবায় মন্ত্রী।

তিনি বলেন, সরকারি বা বেসরকারি ব্যাঙ্ক করা রাজ্য সরকারের পক্ষে সম্ভব নয়। আমরা পারি সমবায় ব্যাঙ্ক করতে। এ কারণেই রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন গ্রামে সমবায় ব্যাঙ্ক গড়ার চিন্তা ভাবনা। যে সব গ্রাম একেবারে পিছিয়ে সেগুলিকে চিহ্নিত করে তালিকা করা হয়েছে। সেখান থেকে ২৫০ গ্রামকে বেছে নেওয়া হচ্ছে।

এই সমবায় ব্যাঙ্ক থেকে গ্রামের মানুষ সহজে ঋণ নিতে পারবেন। সুদও কম। ফলে সরকারি বড় ব্যাঙ্কের ঝামেলা থাকবে না। রাজ্যে ২৯ হাজার সমবায় ব্যাঙ্ক রয়েছে।

A unique “Rosogolla Utsab” is going to be held in Kolkata to celebrate the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for “Banglar Rosogolla”.

The programme will be held sometime in March; Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to grace the occasion with her presence.

Although the venue and other aspects of the utsav are yet to be finalised, a team comprising of sweet manufacturers in the city had gone to the Chief Minister’s residence at Kalighat on Monday morning with their proposal to organise the programme.

It may be recalled that on November 14, the day when it was announced that Bengal has been conferred with the patent for “Banglar Rosogolla”, Mamata Banerjee had tweeted: “Sweet news for us all. We are very happy and proud that #Bengal has been granted GI (Geographical Indication) status for Rosogolla.”

 

রসগোল্লা উৎসবে আমন্ত্রিত মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

 

ইতিমধ্যেই জিআই রেজিস্ট্রেশন পেয়েছে বাংলার রসগোল্লা৷ বাঙালির রসগোল্লা জয় এবার উৎসবের মাধ্যমে তুলে ধরতে চাইছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী৷ আগামী মার্চে রাজ্যে রসগোল্লা উৎসব হতে চলেছে৷

সম্প্রতি রাজ্যের মিষ্টান্ন ব্যবসায়ীদের এক প্রতিনিধিদল মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কালীঘাটের বাসভবনে যায়। জিআই রেজিস্ট্রেশন নিয়ে এই বিজয়ের প্রেক্ষিতে রাজ্যের রসগোল্লা প্রস্তুতকারীদের তরফ থেকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে অভিনন্দিত করা হয়। মিষ্টান্ন ব্যবসায়ীদের পক্ষে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কাছে রসগোল্লা উৎসবের এক অভিনব প্রস্তাব দেওয়া হয়।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী তাঁদের আগামী মার্চ মাসে এই উৎসবের আয়োজন করার পরামর্শ দেন। প্রত্যাশিতভাবে তাঁরাও তাতে সায় দিয়েছেন। কেননা, এই উৎসবের উদ্বোধন মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে দিয়েই করাতে চান উদ্যোক্তারা।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday urged investors to come to Bengal where the government is business-friendly and talent is unlimited. She said this while addressing the FICCI-UKIBC round table in London.

The Chief Minister said there was not only surplus power but the government also has land banks and so, to acquire land is not a problem in Bengal anymore. She also added that the workers in Bengal are excellent and extremely committed and hardworking. She also mentioned the fact that, unlike during the earlier Left Front Government, the Trinamool Congress Government has brought down the number of man-days lost due to strikes to zero.

Mamata Banerjee also said that the State Government is sending government officials to Oxford and Cambridge Universities and to Singapore to train them.

She pointed out to the gathering that the government cares for the poor and downtrodden, and that nearly 90 per cent of the population of the State have been benefitted by one scheme or the other implemented by the State Government.

Projecting her recent feat with Kanyashree Prakalpa bagging the United Nations Public Service Award for Asia Pacific, she said it was an extremely helpful scheme for the girl child and has won worldwide accolades.

Present at the summit were 18 representatives from different British companies, Oxford University and banks as well as prominent industrialists from Bengal.

সোমবার এ বারের ব্রিটেন সফরে প্রথম বাণিজ্য সম্মেলন করলেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। ইউকে-ইন্ডিয়া বিজনেস কাউন্সিলের (ইউকেআইবিসি) প্রতিনিধিদের সঙ্গে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বৈঠক হয়। উপস্থিত ছিলেন অর্থমন্ত্রী, মুখ্যসচিব-সহ মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সঙ্গে আসা বাণিজ্য প্রতিনিধিদলের সদস্যরা। ব্রিটেনের পক্ষে ছিল দিয়াজিও, গ্রিন ব্যাঙ্ক গ্রুপ, অক্সফোর্ড ইউনিভার্সিটি প্রেস, স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ড ব্যাঙ্ক-সহ নানা সংস্থার ১৮ জন প্রতিনিধি। ইউ কে আই বি সি-র চেয়ারম্যান ব্রিটেনের প্রাক্তন বাণিজ্যমন্ত্রী।

এই বৈঠক সেরেই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী যান লক্ষ্মী মিত্তলের বাড়িতে রাজ্যে লগ্নির সম্ভাবনা নিয়ে কথা বলতে। ভারতীয় সময় মধ্যরাত পেরিয়ে চলে বৈঠক।
২০১৫ সালে মমতা যখন এখানে এসেছিলেন, তখন ইউকেআইবিসি-র সঙ্গে ২২টি চুক্তি হয়েছিল। এর মধ্যে ১৭ টিই বাস্তবায়নের দিকে এগিয়েছে।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গে আরও একটি উৎকর্ষ কেন্দ্র তৈরির জন্য এই বৈঠকে অক্সফোর্ড ইউনিভার্সিটির সঙ্গে কথা হয়েছে। নিউটাউনকে গ্রিন সিটি তৈরি করতে গত বার আলোচনা হয়েছিল। ব্রিটিশ সংস্থার সঙ্গে হিডকোর সে ব্যাপারে মউ হয়েছে বলে খবর। শিল্পমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্য, ‘‘মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নেতৃত্বে কতটা এগোনো গিয়েছে, এই সাফল্যের তালিকাই তার প্রমাণ। আগামী দিনে আরও এগোনো যাবে।’’

ব্রিটিশ শিল্পপতিদের রাজ্যে আহ্বান জানিয়ে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে শিল্প গড়ার সুবিধার দিকগুলি তুলে ধরেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, ভৌগোলিক দিক থেকে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের অবস্থান যেমন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ, তেমনই এ রাজ্যে রয়েছে দক্ষ শ্রমিক অথচ যার মজুরি কম। শিল্পের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় জমি সরকারের ল্যান্ড ব্যাঙ্কেই রয়েছে বলে দাবি করেন তিনি। জানিয়ে দেন, তাঁর আমলে শ্রমদিবস নষ্টের সংখ্যা শূন্যে এসে দাঁড়িয়েছে।ব্রিটেনের একটি শিল্প প্রতিনিধি দলকে আগামী জানুয়ারিতে রাজ্যের শিল্প সম্মেলনে আসার জন্য আমন্ত্রণ জানান মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

It’s not only the inspiring thoughts of the English legacy that dominate the cultural bond between the two countries — India and England — but a representation of those ideas of similarity that is visible in the innumerable architectural structures that are present in Kolkata, set up during the British Raj and later.

Highlighting this similarity and describing London and Kolkata, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said: “London and Kolkata are essentially twin cities. We have cultural closeness and the same types of structures that we see in London are also to be found in Kolkata. Not only this, we also share a strong bonding in the field of education too.”

Addressing a gathering at the library conference hall here on Sunday afternoon, she recalled Sister Nivedita’s contribution to India and added: “She was dedicated to the cause of India.” She also spoke about Nivedita’s role in serving the poor and needy during the plague that broke out as an epidemic in Bagbazar where she used to live in 1899. “We have a college named after her. We have acquired the houses where she died in Darjeeling and where she started her school in 1898,” she said adding: “In daily life, we always remember Sri Ramakrishna, Maa Sharda, Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita before starting any work.”

She handed over two motifs of Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita to the Mayor. Earlier, the much-awaited Blue Plaque was unveiled at Sister Nivedita’s house at 21 High Street in Wimbledon where she used to live before she came to India.

The Chief Minister also garlanded a portrait of Sister Nivedita who used to live in this house before leaving for India in 1897. Swami Suhitanandaji, one of the vice-presidents of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Dinesh Patnaik, acting Indian High Commissioner to UK, Amit Mitra, state Finance minister, Malay De, state Chief Secretary and Lord Swraj Paul along with a host of industrialists were present at the event.

The Blue Plaque read “Sister Nivedita (Margaret Noble) Educationist and Campaigner for Indian Independence lived here.”

Mamata Banerjee walked down to the auditorium on Crompton Street. The portraits of Sri Ramakrishna, Maa Sharda Devi, Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita were kept beside the dais. The function started with an invocation paying homage to Sri Ramakrishna.

লন্ডনে ভগিনী নিবেদিতার বাড়ির ফলক উন্মোচন অনুষ্ঠান যেন এক অন্য ইতিহাসের সাক্ষী হয়ে রইল। যার অন্যতম কান্ডারি পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। আর হবে নাই বা কেন, ভগিনী নিবেদিতা যত না আয়ারল্যান্ডের, যত না ব্রিটেনের, তার থেকে অনেক বেশি তো এই বাংলার। তাই অনুষ্ঠান যতই অনাড়ম্বর হোক না কেন, এর আভিজাত্য ছিল অনেক বেশি। একদিকে নিবেদিতার সার্ধশতবর্ষ উপলক্ষে ‘স্মারক’ পত্রিকার উদ্বোধন করলেন মমতা, অন্যদিকে মঞ্চে দাঁড়িয়ে ডাক দিলেন ব্রিটেনের সঙ্গে নতুন সম্পর্ক গড়ে তোলার।

ইংল্যান্ডের মাটিতে প্রথমবারের জন্য বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হাত ধরেই সরকারিভাবে স্বীকৃতি পেল ভগিনী নিবেদিতার বাড়ি। তাঁর হাই স্ট্রিটের বাড়িতে যে ঐতিহ্যবাহী নীল ফলক স্থাপন করছে ইংলিশ হেরিটেজ, তা উন্মোচিত হল বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হাতে। ভারতীয় সময় রাত ১০টায় শুরু হওয়া অনুষ্ঠানে।

যেখানে রয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী, সেখান থেকে অনুষ্ঠানস্থলের দূরত্ব সাড়ে ৮ মাইলের মতো। প্রায় ৫০ মিনিটের সফর। দুপুরেই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী উইম্বলডনে নিবেদিতার ২১, হাই স্ট্রিটের বাড়ি পৌঁছে যান। স্বামী দয়াত্মানন্দজির মন্ত্রোচ্চারণের পর স্বীকৃতির  প্রতীক ঐতিহ্যবাহী নীল ফলক উন্মোচিত হয় মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হাত ধরেই। নিবেদিতার বাগবাজার এবং দার্জিলিংয়ের বাড়ি উদ্ধার এবং সুরক্ষায় বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর উদ্যোগ প্রশংসা কুড়িয়েছে সব মহলেই।

বাকি অনুষ্ঠানটি সম্পন্ন হয় পার্শ্ববর্তী কম্পটন রোডের মার্টন আর্টস স্পেসে। যা উইম্বলডন লাইব্রেরি নামেই পরিচিত। মিনিট দশেকের এই দূরত্ব হেঁটেই যান মমতা। সেখানে মিউজিয়ামের মেয়র মার্সি স্কেটি, ইংলিশ হেরিটেজের অ্যানা এভিস, ব্রিটেনে নিযুক্ত ভারতের কার্যনির্বাহী হাইকমিশনার অ্যাম্বাসাডর, রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের সহ-সভাপতির পর বক্তব্য রাখেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের বক্তৃতা শুরুর আগে ফের একবার ব্রিটেনের মঞ্চে প্রশংসিত হয় তাঁর সরকার। বিশ্বের দরবারে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কন্যাশ্রীর সম্মানিত হওয়ার প্রসঙ্গে ফের একবার উন্নত হয় বাংলার শির।

১০ মিনিটের বক্তৃতার শুরুতেই মমতা ধন্যবাদ জানান এমন একটা অনুষ্ঠানে তাঁকে আমন্ত্রণ জানানোর জন্য। তাঁর কথায় উঠে আসে নিবেদিতার ভারতপ্রেম, মানবপ্রেমের প্রসঙ্গ। পরমহংস রামকৃষ্ণদেব, মা সারদা এবং স্বামী বিবেকানন্দকে ছাড়া যে বাংলা তথা ভারত অচল, সে কথা স্মরণ করিয়ে দেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। পাশাপাশি উল্লেখ করেন ভিক্টোরিয়া মেমোরিয়ালের মতো কলকাতার নানা প্রান্তে ছড়িয়ে থাকা হেরিটেজ বিল্ডিংয়ের কথা। তাঁর আহ্বান, ‘বাংলায় আসুন। নতুন করে সম্পর্ক গড়ে তুলি।’

বক্তৃতা শেষে উইম্বলডন হিস্ট্রি মিউজিয়ামেই মেয়রের হাতে স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ এবং ভগিনী নিবেদিতার প্রতিকৃতি তুলে দেন।
