The Bengal Government is planning to convert the Sundarbans into a tourism centre of international standards. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most popular tourist spots in India, and draws many international tourists too.

The North 24 Parganas district administration has already submitted a master plan to the State Tourism Department. Based on this, a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared by the department.

According to the master plan, river cruises will be available to crisscross the mangrove forest, through the jungle-shrouded rivers and streams. The cruises will be organised on houseboats, where tourists can stay for a few days. There will be houseboat terminals at various points where the vessels can be hired. Seaplanes can be boarded to get beautiful bird’s-eye views of the delta region.

A Tiger Reserve Circuit will be set up. Hanging bridges, connected to trees, will be constructed in forested areas to view tigers and other animals from a safe distance. Migratory and other birds can be watched from birds watch towers.

Environment-friendly resorts and restaurants will be set up along the coasts. There will be no concrete constructions – only wood-and-thatch houses, one or two storey high. Mostly, solar energy would be used. Home stay facilities would also be set up at various locations.

All outdoor lights will be solar-powered. For leisure rides on the beaches, battery-run four-wheelers would be available. Other facilities being planned for tourists include aquamarine parks, swimming pools, floating markets and theatres.

 

বিদেশের ধাঁচে পর্যটন কেন্দ্র হচ্ছে সুন্দরবনে

ইউনেসকোর হেরিটেজ সাইট তকমা পাওয়া সুন্দরবনকে ঘিরে আন্তর্জাতিক মানের পরিবেশবান্ধব পর্যটন কেন্দ্র গড়ে তোলার পরিকল্পনা নিয়েছে প্রশাসন।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের ইচ্ছানুসারে এজন্য বন্যপ্রাণ, ঐতিহ্যপূর্ণ বাদাবনকে সুরক্ষাবলয়ের মধ্যে রেখে তার বাইরের দ্বীপাঞ্চল, সমুদ্র সৈকতকে সাজিয়ে পর্যটনের সেরা ঠিকানা করতে চাইছে সরকার, যাতে দেশ ও বিদেশের পর্যটকরা বেশি সংখ্যায় সুন্দরবনে আসতে পারেন। পর্যটকদের থাকা, খাওয়া ও আমোদ-প্রমোদের জন্য আন্তর্জাতিক মানের পরিকাঠামো তৈরির বিষয়টি পরিকল্পনার মধ্যে রয়েছে।

পরিকল্পনার অঙ্গ হিসেবে জঙ্গলের মধ্যে নদীর বুক চিরে বেড়ানোর জন্য থাকবে অত্যাধুনিক হাউসবোট, রিভার ক্রুজ। যার কোনও শব্দ হবে না। ওই হাউসবোটে রাত্রিবাস করা যাবে। পর্যটকদের নিরাপত্তার জন্য বিভিন্ন জায়গায় পরিবেশবান্ধব হাউসবোট টার্মিনাল করার কথা ভাবা হয়েছে। আকাশপথে সমুদ্র সৈকত দেখার জন্য সিপ্লেন আনার বিষয়ে জোর দেওয়া হয়েছে। রয়্যাল বেঙ্গল টাইগার দেখানোর জন্য টাইগার রিজার্ভ সাফারি সার্কিট তৈরি করা হবে।

পাশাপাশি হেঁটে জঙ্গলের অনেকটা গভীরে যাওয়ার জন্য গাছের মাথার উপর দিয়ে ঝুলন্ত সাঁকো তৈরি করা হবে। দেশী ও পরিযায়ী পাখি দেখার জন্য তৈরি হবে বার্ড ওয়াচ টাওয়ার। সমুদ্র সৈকতগুলিতে থাকা ও খাওয়ার জন্য পরিবেশবান্ধব অত্যাধুনিক সুযোগ সুবিধাসম্পন্ন রিসর্ট ও রেস্তরাঁ হবে।

তবে কোথাও কংক্রিটের কোনও নির্মাণ হবে না। সব জায়গায় কাঠ, খড় দিয়ে একতলা ও দোতলা ঘর তৈরি হবে। অধিকাংশ জায়গাতেই জ্বালানো হবে সৌরবাতি। সমুদ্র সৈকতে পর্যটকদের ঘোরার জন্য ব্যাটারিচালিত চার চাকার গাড়ি চালানো হবে। যাতে কোনও দূষণ না হয়।

পর্যটকদের বিনোদনের জন্য আলাদা করে অ্যাকোয়া মেরিন পার্ক, সুইমিং পুল, ভ্রাম্যমাণ বাজার, থিয়েটার থাকবে। বেশ কয়েকটি জায়গায় হোম স্টে তৈরি করা হবে।

Bengal Government is ready with the new homestay policy and it is ready to be placed in next state Cabinet meeting, state Tourism minister said.

The idea was conceptualised by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while she was travelling in North Bengal. She instructed the state Tourism department to frame the policy as soon as possible.

“The Homestay permits tourists to board and lodge with local residents and get an instant feel of the society and culture there. This gives a chance for the residents to have a mean of livelihood as well,” the minister said.

“The intention is to spread the homestay culture in Bengal only for a growing footfall of foreign tourists,” the minister added.

The families involved in the homestay would be brought under Bread & Breakfast Scheme, which will help them by having a tie-up with Incredible India. Also, plans are going on to start community development and organic farming in places – Darjeeling, Lamahata, Purulia, Bankura, Mandarmoni and in many other places.

 

পর্যটনের বিকাশের জন্য নয়া ‘হোম স্টে নীতি’ তৈরী রাজ্যের

বাংলাকে পর্যটকদের কাছে আরও জনপ্রিয় করতে নতুন পদক্ষেপ নিতে চলেছে রাজ্য সরকার। রাজ্য মন্ত্রিসভায় শীঘ্রই পেশ করা হবে নতুন ‘হোম স্টে নীতি’ জানালেন রাজ্যের পর্যটন মন্ত্রী।

নতুন ‘হোম স্টে’ নীতি তৈরির ভাবনা মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের। উত্তরবঙ্গ পরিদর্শনে গিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেন এবং পর্যটন দপ্তরকে দ্রুত এই কাজ বাস্তবায়নের নির্দেশ দেন।

মন্ত্রী জানান, পর্যটকদের আকর্ষণের উদ্দেশ্যেই বাংলায় এই হোম স্টে কালচার আনার পরিকল্পনা করা হয়েছে। এর ফলে পর্যটকরা এই এলাকার সংস্কৃতি সম্পর্কে যেমন অবগত হবেন তেমনই বেশ কিছু কর্মসংস্থানও তৈরি হবে এর ফলে।

ইতোমধ্যেই দার্জিলিং ও ডুয়ার্সের পাহাড়ের প্রত্যন্ত এলাকাগুলিতে ‘হোম স্টে’ পর্যটকদের কাছে ভীষণ ভাবে জনপ্রিয় হয়ে উঠেছে৷

দার্জিলিং, লামাহাটা, পুরুলিয়া, বাঁকুড়া, মন্দারমনি এবং অনেক অন্যান্য স্থানে – হোম স্টে ফেসিলিটির সঙ্গে জৈব চাষের ক্ষেত্রেও জোর দেওয়া হবে। অরগ্যানিক ফুড হবে আরেকটি আকর্ষণ৷

The Bengal Tourism Department is all set to formulate separate policy for Home Stays in the State. The new policy will ensure proper arrangements for stay, food quality as well as security of the guests in the Home Stays.

When the policy is framed, the families which are involved in Home Stays will be brought under Bread & Breakfast Scheme, which will benefit them by having a tie-up with Incredible India. Also, plans are afoot to start community development and organic farming in these places.

Home Stays allow travelers to board and lodge with locals and get a first-hand feel of the regional customs and culture. This gives an opportunity to the residents to earn a livelihood as well.

Several Home Stays have come up in the hamlets in north Bengal, particularly in the Dooars region (the floodplains and foothills of the eastern Himalayas in northeast India around Bhutan). Home Stays are a hit with international tourists.

 

 

নতুন হোম-স্টে নীতি আনতে চলেছে পর্যটন দপ্তর

হোম-স্টে-র ব্যবস্থা জনপ্রিয় হওয়ায় এবার এক পৃথক নীতি প্রণয়ন করছে রাজ্য পর্যটন বিভাগ। আগামী তিন-চার মাসের মধ্যেই সেই নীতি তৈরি হয়ে যাবে। নতুন নীতির মাধ্যমে পর্যটকদের থাকার জন্য যথাযথ ব্যবস্থা, খাদ্যের মান সেইসাথে অতিথিদের নিরাপত্তার সুনিশ্চিত ব্যবস্থা করবে পর্যটন দপ্তর।

নতুন নীতি তৈরির সময় হোম-স্টে-র সঙ্গে যুক্ত পরিবারগুলিকে ব্রেড অ্যান্ড ব্রেকফাস্ট প্রকল্পের আওতায় আনা হবে। সে ক্ষেত্রে ইনক্রেডিবল ইন্ডিয়া-র আওতায় সারা দেশের মানুষের কাছেই তাঁদের কথা পৌঁছাবে। কমিউনিটি ডেভেলপমেন্ট, অর্গানিক ফার্মিংয়ের মত বিষয়গুলিও এর আওতায় আনার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে রাজ্যের।

উত্তরবঙ্গে বিশেষ করে ডুয়ার্স অঞ্চলে (প্লাবনভূমি ও ভুটানের প্রায় উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতে পূর্ব হিমালয়ের পাদদেশে) প্রায় ১০০টি হোম-স্টে তৈরি হচ্ছে। আন্তর্জাতিক ক্ষেত্রে পর্যটকদের কাছে এই হোম-স্টে খুবই আকর্ষণীয়।

The West Bengal Tourism Department has decided to associate with the Public Works and Forest departments in order to modernize and expand infrastructural facilities and give a boost to tourism in the State.

While the PWD will construct more than 100 ‘Pather Sathis’ (attractive motels) alongside almost all the national and state highways across the state at a cost of more than Rs 20 crore, all forest ‘rest houses’ will be upgraded with essential gadgets like air-conditioners, LED television sets, geysers and refrigerators.

Motels facilitating pleasant connectivity to tourist spots would be handed over to the Tourism department by the PWD on completion for maintenance and formation of joint ventures wherever possible for quick recovery of costs.

Revenues earned by the Forest department would be shared by all stakeholders, including private partners, who would promote sales and guarantee upkeep of the facilities for weekend travelers.

Yet another novel method of attracting travelers– both domestic and foreign, would be the arrangement of short ‘home-stays’ deep inside forests with picturesque surroundings.

Promoted through enterprising ‘Forest Protection Committee’ members, these cosy nooks mostly in North Bengal, Dooars and Darjeeling (in places like Tagda, Chimney and Pokriata) would give private entrepreneurs, especially tea garden owners, a run for their money.

However, the most frequented facilities like Mirik, Jaldapara, Gorumara, Holong, Digha and Gangasagar will not be given lesser importance.
