Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged people to maintain peace and communal harmony. She attended the 350th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Govind Singh on Thursday afternoon.

“Bengal and Punjab are very close for ages and Bengal is the home for people belonging to different religions. We live happily and peacefully. This is our culture and this is our tradition,” she said.

The Chief Minister also reiterated on the the close relation between Punjab and Bengal for decades. The freedom fighters of these two states sacrificed their lives for the country.

“The relation between Punjab and Bengal is very close and will remain forever,” she maintained.

Appreciating the social service carried out by the Gurdwaras, she said that after demonetisation of high value notes was announced, many poor people did not have money to buy food as banks did not have cash.

They queued up in front of the Gurdwaras and were given food. “In Delhi, I saw long queues of people in front of Gurdwaras, after demonetisation of high value notes was announced.

Banks did not have cash and poor people had nothing to eat. The Gurdwaras gave them food and I appreciate this gesture.”

Mamata Banerjee said a museum on the life and work of Guru Govind Singh will be set up at Rashbehari Avenue. A gate named after Guru Nanak will come up at Dunlop where a big Gurdwara has recently come up.

 

বাংলার সম্প্রীতি নষ্ট হতে দেব না: মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

গুরু গোবিন্দ সিংয়ের ৩৫০তম জন্মবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে ধর্মতলার শহিদ মিনারে আয়োজিত একটি অনুষ্ঠানে হাজির হয়ে ঐক্য ও সম্প্রীতির বার্তা দিলেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়৷

তিনি বলেন, “বাংলার সঙ্গে পাঞ্জাবের সম্পর্ক অনেক দিনের। বাংলায় সকল ধর্মের মানুষ একসাথে শান্তিতে বসবাস করে। এটাই বাংলার ঐতিহ্য ও সংস্কৃতি”।

এদিন গুরু গোবিন্দ সিংয়ের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “আমি দিল্লি গিয়ে দেখেছি, অসংগঠিত ক্ষেত্রের শ্রমিকদের কীভাবে সারা দিনের খাওয়া-দাওয়ার ব্যবস্থা করে গুরুদ্বারগুলি৷ কত শ্রদ্ধা, পরম নিষ্ঠায় তাঁরা মানুষের সেবা করেন৷ আসলে এটা আমাদের দেশের পরম্পরা৷ মানবসেবাই আসল ধর্ম৷”

এদিন গুরুদ্বারের সামাজিক কাজের প্রশংসা করে তিনি বলেন, “নোট বাতিলের ফলে ব্যাঙ্কে টাকা নেই, গরীব মানুষ খেতে পাচ্ছে না। দেশের এই আর্থিক জরুরি অবস্থায় গুরুদ্বারগুলি তাদের খাবার দিয়ে সাহায্য করছে আমি তাদের এই উদ্যোগকে স্বাগত জানাই”।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “সাহস নিয়ে কাজ করাই হল ধর্ম৷ ধর্মের অর্থ হল ঐক্য, বিশ্বাস৷ কেউ বড় না, কেউ ছোট না, সবাই এক৷ মানুষের উপর বিশ্বাস রাখতে হবে৷ তবেই দেশ উন্নতির পথে এগোবে৷”

রাসবিহারীতে গুরু গোবিন্দ সিং জির নামে একটি সংগ্রহশালা তৈরি হবে। ডানলপে যে গুরুদ্বার রয়েছে সেখানে গুরু নানকের নামে একটি তোরণ বানিয়ে দেওয়া হবে বলে ঘোষণা করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী৷
