The State Government has come up with a special scheme for enabling college and university professors to conduct research in subjects of their choice, under which such researchers will get grants and all facilities for conducting their research. The scheme is called Gobeshonay Bangla.

Teachers interested in conducting research have to send detailed applications to the Education Department by September 15. After that, a special committee of the department will decide who would be given the grants.

There are a few conditions for getting the grants. The primary one is that the research has to be conducted in the State.

Topics related to agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, biotechnology, vocational and technical training, environment and a few others would be given special stress on while deciding grants.

Opportunities would also be given for travelling to foreign countries for research.

The State Government has created several policies for the development of the fisheries sector. The important ones are given below.

West Bengal Fisheries Investment Policy 2015:For attracting substantial investments in the fisheries sector, the Government has promulgated the West Bengal Fisheries Investment Policy 2015. From FY 2015-17 till now, 30 projects have been initiated at an investment (by both private and Government players) of Rs 339.35 crore. During the Bengal Global Business Summit 2018, 19 memorandums of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 760.3 crore were signed.

Amendment of method of settlement of Government waterbodies:The chapter dedicated to Government water bodies in the West Bengal Land & Land Reforms Manual was amended by the State Government with the intention of infusing better competitiveness and adoption of scientific methods of pisciculture and thereby increasing the production of fish. This step has boosted rural employment generation and optimum use of Government fisheries as a resource by giving priority in the tendering process to functional fishermen’s cooperative societies, fish production groups and self-help groups (SHG).

Training and extension:The number of fishermen who have received training has gone up from 6,170 in 2010-11 to 16,394 in 2017-18. Awareness camps in the form of Krishi Mela, Wetland Day, Fish Farmers’ Day, etc., are being regularly organised.

The State Fisheries Department recently organised a workshop, at its office in Haldia block of Purba Medinipur district, to train women engaged in the fishing sector to make and repair fishing nets. This would add another dimension to their livelihoods.

The weekly workshop (since the women had to make time out of their work) was run for one-and-a-half months. Making a cast net takes around 15 days and it costs Rs 500 to 550. These are usually sold for around Rs 3,000. Hence, the women can earn a decent income.

There are different types of cast nets. Not just from those who catch fish, different types of nets are in big demand from hatcheries too. The State Government is constantly setting up, or helping in the setting up of hatcheries across the State, more so in the southern coastal districts. Various types of fish are cultivated both for domestic consumption and export to other countries and other States of India.

To save several varieties of small fish, the State Government has taken to releasing their hatchlings across Bengal. One quintal of hatchlings was released by the Fisheries Minister at Sindrani in Bagda block in North 24 Parganas district, in the presence of almost 3,000 fishermen in November.

Among the varieties in danger are mourola, kholse, tangra, pnuti, folui, koi, singi, magur, lyatha, chang, etc.

These fishes grow naturally in water bodies like streams and lakes. But over-fishing in places is leading to their depletion. Hence, the department has also started programmes to educate fishermen to not to over-fish and to not to fish during two months of the rainy season to give the time for the fishes to grow.

 

লুপ্তপ্রায় ছোট মাছ বাঁচাতে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তর

লুপ্তপ্রায় দেশী ছোট মাছ বাঁচাতে রাজ্যজুড়ে বিভিন্ন জলাশয়ে এলাকাভিত্তিক দেশী মাছের চারা ছাড়ার উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তর। এরই অঙ্গ হিসেবে উত্তর ২৪ পরগনার বাগদা ব্লকের সিন্দ্রানী এলাকায় প্রায় ১ কুইন্টাল দেশী মাছের চারা ছাড়া হল। এরপর বাকি ৩২ টি সমবায় সমিতির জলাশয়ে ৪৮ হাজার দেশী মাছের চারা ছাড়া হবে।

মৌরলা, খলসে, ট্যাংরা, পুঁটি, ফলুই, কই, শিঙি, মাগুর, ল্যাঠা, চ্যাং ইত্যাদির মত অঞ্চলভিত্তিক দেশী মাছ (স্থানীয়ভাবে যেগুলো রাণী মাছ হিসেবে পরিচিত) প্রায় হারিয়ে যেতে বসেছে। এই মাছ আলাদা করে চাষ করা যায় না, প্রাকৃতিকভাবে জলাশয়গুলিতে বেড়ে ওঠে।

এলাকাভিত্তিক এই মাছগুলির উৎপাদন বাড়াতে রাজ্যের প্রতি জেলার খাল বিল ও চুনোপুঁটি মেলার আয়োজনের মাধ্যমে এইসব মাছের চারা জলাশয়গুলিতে ছাড়া হচ্ছে। ছোট ইলিশ ধরার ক্ষেত্রে আইন করে বিধিনিষেধ আরোপ করে যেভাবে কিছুটা ফল পাওয়া গেছে, এক্ষেত্রেও আগামীদিনে ফল পাওয়া যাবে বলে মৎস্য দপ্তর আশাবাদী।

Various departments of the Bengal Government are participating in a major way in the World Food India Festival, to be held in New Delhi from November 3 to 5.

Not just other states, but 121 countries, including France, Germany, Britain, USA, China, Japan, Poland, Switzerland and others are participating. Naturally, the festival presents a big opportunity for the state to showcase its best food products to the whole world.

On November 4, representatives of different departments of the State Government are also planning to meet potential foreign investors, as part of the food festival.

The departments of the State Government taking part are Agriculture, Agriculture Marketing, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Panchayat and Rural Development. They would be displaying and selling the best of the best from Bengal.

In recent years, the state’s fish, vegetables and fruits have gained a name for themselves in terms of quality in not only the country, but internationally too. Hence, the State Government plans to use the festival as a platform to display its best products to gain access to more national and international markets.

The Fisheries Department would showcase hilsa, tangra, parshe, koi, changes, bhetki, panga, bagda and apple snail, and also varieties of shutki (sun-dried fish),. Processed products like prawn pickle and fish sweet and sour pickle would also be displayed.

The Animal Husbandry Department would display meat products made from black Bengal goat (which is especially popular), koel, turkey, duck, pork and lamb. Basically, the products sold by Haringhata Farm would be sold. The department is also planning to popularise the work being done by the three bull centres set up for artificial insemination in Beldanga, Haringhata and Salboni.

The Food Processing Department is taking along mango and litchi from Malda and Murshidabad districts, pineapple jam from Siliguri, jelly, pickles and other items.

The Panchayat and Rural Development Department would display products made by the various self-help groups (SHG) which are aided through the Anandadhara Scheme, which is administered by the department. The products are goyna bori from Tamluk, morabba from Suri, biuli dal, black moong dal, papad, etc.

গেঁড়ি -গুগলি থেকে শুঁটকি মাছ , সিউড়ির মোরব্বা থেকে তমলুকের গয়না বড়ি — বাংলার এই খাবারের সম্ভারকে তুলে ধরতে চাইছে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সরকার৷ ৩ থেকে ৫ নভেম্বর দিল্লিতে আয়োজিত হতে চলেছে ওয়ার্ল্ড ফুড ইন্ডিয়া ফেস্টিভ্যাল৷

এই খাদ্য উত্সবে থাকছে রাজ্যের এই খাদ্যসম্ভার৷ ফ্রান্স , জার্মানি , ব্রিটেন , আমেরিকা , চিন , জাপান , পোল্যান্ড , সুইজারল্যান্ডের মতো বিশ্বের ১২১টি দেশ অংশ নেবে ওই খাদ্য উৎসবে৷ রাজ্যের কৃষি , কৃষি বিপণন , মত্স্য , প্রাণিসম্পদ উন্নয়ন ছাড়াও দিল্লির ওই উৎসবে অংশ নেবে রাজ্যের পঞ্চায়েত ও গ্রামোন্নয়ন দপ্তরও৷

বিশ্বের দরবারে বাংলার কোন কোন খাবার তুলে ধরতে চাইছে বাংলা? মৎস্য দপ্তর সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে ইলিশ, ট্যাংরা, পার্শে, কই, চ্যাঙস, ভেটকি, কোবিয়া, প্যাঙাস, বাগদার মত মাছ নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে৷ সঙ্গে গেঁড়ি, গুগলি থেকে শুঁটকি মাছের প্রক্রিয়াকরণের ভালো সম্ভাবনা থাকায় তাও তুলে ধরা হবে খাদ্য উৎসবে৷ প্রন পিকল থেকে ফিস সুইট অ্যান্ড সাওয়ার পিকল থাকবে সেখানে৷

মাংস হিসাবে দারুণ জনপ্রিয় ব্ল্যাক বেঙ্গল গোট৷ রাজ্যের প্রাণিসম্পদ দপ্তর সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, ব্ল্যাক বেঙ্গল গোট ছাড়াও কোয়েল, টার্কি, হাঁস, পর্ক, ল্যাম্বেরও প্রক্রিয়াকৃত নানা পদ থাকবে৷ মূলত হরিণঘাটা ফার্মের সমস্ত আইটেমগুলিই নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে প্রদর্শনীতে৷ এ ছাড়াও বেলডাঙা , হরিণঘাটা এবং শালবনীতে আর্টিফিসিয়াল ইনসেমিনেশনের জন্য যে তিনটি বুল সেন্টার রয়েছে , তার প্রচারও করা হবে সেখানে৷

কৃষি বিপণন দপ্তর উদ্যোগ নিচ্ছে সীতাশাল, কালোনুনিয়া, গোবিন্দভোগ, তুলাইপাঞ্জির মতো ৪০ ধরনের চাল, বেশ কয়েক ধরনের ডাল নিয়ে যাওয়ার৷ রাজ্যের খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ দন্তরের উদ্যোগে মালদহ, মুর্শিদাবাদের আম, লিচু, শিলিগুড়ির আনারসের জ্যাম, জেলি, আচারের মতো নানা আইটেম থাকবে সেখানে৷

রাজ্যের পঞ্চায়েত ও গ্রামোন্নয়ন দপ্তরের তত্ত্বাবধানেই পরিচালিত হচ্ছে আনন্দধারা প্রকল্পটি৷ তাদের উদ্যোগেই এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় গড়ে তোলা বিভিন্ন স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীর তৈরি তমলুকের গয়না বড়ি, সিউড়ির মোরব্বা, বিউলি, কালো মুগ ডালের পাঁপড়ের মতো নানা সামগ্রী নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে খাদ্য উত্সবে৷

The Bengal Fisheries Department has set up plans to open guest houses in Vellore (in Tamil Nadu), Delhi and the Sunderbans.

The guest houses would have affordable pricing, both for rooms and food. For food, good quality fish dishes would be available. Facilities would also be there to buy raw fish at these guest houses.

Similar guest houses managed by Benfish, the apex body of all the primary fishermen’s co-operative societies in the State, and which is a part of the department, are located across Bengal and in Puri, a popular tourist spot for people from Bengal, as well.

Another initiative of the Fisheries Department is doing well. The Benfish-run ‘Ekushe Annapurna’ mobile lunch vans are doing good business in Kolkata. They also did well during Durga Puja, when they were stationed near some of the popular pandals. These are already popular in the districts.

The latest initiative of establishing the guest houses in other states is an aim to let people experience the quality and affordability of food from Benfish.

ভেলোর, দিল্লী ও সুন্দরবনে অতিথিশালা তৈরী করবে মৎস্য দপ্তর

ভেলোর, দিল্লী ও সুন্দরবনে অতিথিশালা গড়বে রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তর। এ ব্যাপারে প্রয়োজনীয় অনুমতির জন্য ইতিমধ্যেই প্রস্তাব পাঠানো হয়েছে নবান্নে। শুরু হয়েছে অতিথিশালার জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় জমি খোঁজার উদ্যোগ। এ বছরের শেষের দিকে বা সামনের বছরের প্রথমে অতিথিশালা তৈরীর কাজ শুরু করতে চায় রাজ্য সরকার।

কাকদ্বীপ থেকে কোচবিহার – রাজ্যের বেশ কিছু জায়গায় বেনফিশের তৈরি এই ধরনের অতিথিশালা আছে। রাজ্যের বাইরে পুরীতেও অতিথিশালা আছে এই সংস্থার। সাধারনের নাগালের মধ্যে এই অতিথিশালাগুলিতে ভিড়ের হারও মন্দ নয়।

অতিথিদের কথা মাথায় রেখে রাজ্যের বাইরে এই অতিথিশালাগুলিতে খাবারের বন্দোবস্তও রাখা হবে। যাতে সস্তায় খাবার পেতে পারেন তাঁরা। এই অতিথিশালাগুলিতে যাতে টাটকা মাছের সঙ্গে গরম ভাত পাওয়া যায়, সে ব্যাপারেও চিন্তাভাবনা চালানো হচ্ছে। চেষ্টা চালানো হচ্ছে যাতে এখানে কাঁচা মাছ কেনার সুযোগ থাকে।

ইতিমধ্যেই কলকাতায় ‘একুশে অন্নপূর্ণা’ চালু করেছে বেনফিশ। একুশ টাকায় মাছ-ভাত খাওয়ার সুযোগ করে দিতে কলকাতায় প্রতিদিন ঘুরে বেড়াচ্ছে এই ‘একুশে অন্নপূর্ণা’র গাড়ি। পুজোর সময় কলকাতার বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রাস্তার সংযোগস্থল ছাড়াও কিছু পুজো মণ্ডপের সামনেও এই গাড়ি থেকে মাছ-ভাত কিনে খেয়েছেন দর্শনার্থীরা।

The Biotechnology Department of the Bengal Government has decided to set up a state-of-the-art plant tissue culture laboratory at Kolkata Biotech Park to enhance production and quality of plants and vegetables.

At the laboratory, scientists and research fellows will carry out research on plants and biofertilizers. Various medicinal plants will also be conserved in the laboratory at the biotechnology park for research purposes.

The department is in the process of formulating the Biotech Policy for Bengal. The State Government is also setting up new biotechnology hubs in Bardhaman and Kalimpong. The department has been focusing on the modernisation and expansion of the Common Instrument Facility Centre at the biotechnology park in the city.

The Biotechnology Department will tie up with other departments like Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Processing to strengthen organisational collaboration. Better co-ordination with other departments will help the Biotechnology Department to successfully implement its schemes. The department, in  turn, will help the Agriculture Department to improve the quality of various fertilizers. It is also working to increase the production of fishes for the Fisheries department.

Bengal is rich in the biodiversity of crops, vegetables, fruits, flowers and other plant resources. The main objectives of the department are to provide better facilities to the common people and to improve the quality of life. It also promotes the overall development of both traditional and modern biotechnology in the State, including formulating livelihood development programmes.

The Biotechnology Department will also strengthen biotechnology-based aspects that will help in the development of the State’s economy at the grassroots level. The department is applying specialised knowledge, skills and management to develop a viable and vibrant biotechnology-based industry in Bengal. It stresses on equitable and inclusive development through scientific means.

 

টিস্যু কালচার ল্যাবরেটরি তৈরীর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার

রাজ্য সরকারের বায়োটেকনোলজি দপ্তর একটি টিস্যু কালচার ল্যাবরেটরি তৈরীর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। এটি তৈরী হবে কলকাতা বায়োটেক পার্কে। শাক সবজির উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধির জন্যই এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে।

জৈব সার কিভাবে কৃষিকাজে ব্যবহার করা যায় তা নিয়ে রিসার্চ করার জন্য বেশ কিছু বৈজ্ঞানিকও থাকবেন এই ল্যাবরেটরিতে। রিসার্চের জন্য বিভিন্ন মেডিসিন প্ল্যান্টও সংরক্ষণ করে রাখা হবে। ইতিমধ্যেই রাজ্য সরকার কলকাতার বায়োটেক পার্ক সংস্কারের জন্য বেশ কিছু পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে। এছাড়াও বর্ধমান ও কালিম্পঙে বায়োটেকনোলজি হাব তৈরী হচ্ছে। এছাড়া যন্ত্রপাতির আধুনিকীকরণের ওপরও জোর দিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার।

এই সংস্থাকে আরও শক্তিশালী করার জন্য বায়োটেকনোলজি দপ্তর অন্যান্য দপ্তর যেমন কৃষি, ফিশারিজ ও খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ দপ্তরের সঙ্গে গাঁটছড়া বেঁধেছে। অন্যন্য দপ্তরের সঙ্গে এই যোগাযোগ এই প্রকল্পের সাফল্যের জন্য অনেক সহায়তা করবে। কিভাবে আরও বেশি মাছ উৎপাদন করা যায় এছাড়া কৃষিকাজে কিভাবে আরও উন্নতমানের সার ব্যবহার করা যায় এসব ক্ষেত্রেও সাহায্য করবে এই দপ্তর। সাধারণ মানুষকে আরও সুযোগ সুবিধা দেওয়া এবং তাদের জীবনযাত্রার মান আরও উন্নত করারই এই দপ্তরের উদ্দেশ্য।

The State Fisheries department will open its food stall “All fish” before the Pujas. The West Bengal Housing and Infrastructure Development Department will handover 100 hectare of water-bodies in New Town to the State Fisheries Department Corporation.

A space in Eco Park’s Heliconia garden will also be given to SFDC to set up its stall “All Fish.” The decision to hand over the water bodies was based upon a directive of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that different departments should hand over water bodies to the fisheries department for fish farming at a meeting presided over by her on June 3 in the Town Hall.

Accordingly, the water bodies at Upasanashthal (8.74 hectare), water treatment plant (30 hectare), Eco Urban village (15 hectare), SWM area (30 hectare), Diler bheri (17 hectare) were identified to be handed over to SFDC on a 50: 50 profit sharing basis after a moratorium of one year.

The SFDC would try to open the “All fish” stall in Eco Park by October 2.  HIDCO would source its fish requirements for Café Ekante from SFDC as much as possible. SFDC already runs a stall in Nalban. The All Fish stall will be a star attraction at Prakriti Tirtha as the tourists from other states and countries would love to taste the various preparations of fish, staple to Bengali cuisine.

As the “All fish” stall will be opened before the Pujas it is likely to grab attention. A similar stall is also being opened opposite Nabanna, the State Secretariat.

 

মৎস্যপ্রেমী বাঙালির রসনা তৃপ্তিতে রাজ্যের নতুন উদ্যোগ

রাজ্য মৎস্য বিভাগ পুজোর আগেই সব জায়গায় মাছের দোকান খুলবে যেখানে সব রকম মাছ পাওয়া যাবে। রাজ্যের স্বরাষ্ট্র ও ইনফ্রাস্ট্রাকচার ডেভেলপমেন্ট ডিপার্টমেন্ট প্রায় ১০০ হেক্টর জলাশয় রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তরকে দিয়েছে।

ইকো পার্কের হেলিকনিয়া গার্ডেন SFDC -কে একটি জায়গা দেবে এই স্টল তৈরি করার জন্য। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নিদেশেই এই জলাশয়গুলি হস্তান্তর করা হচ্ছে। মাছ চাষ করার জন্য বিভিন্ন দপ্তরের উচিত মৎস্য বিভাগকে জলাশয় হস্তান্তর করা। এই উপলক্ষে গত ৩ জুন মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নেতৃত্বে টাউন হলে একটি বৈঠক হয়।

উপাসনাস্থল (৮.৭৪ হেক্টর), ওয়াটার ট্রিটমেন্ট প্ল্যান্ট (৩০ হেক্টর), SWM এলাকা (৩০ হেক্টর), দিলের ভেরি (১৭ হেক্টর) এগুলি চিহ্নিত করা হয়েছে হস্তান্তর করার জন্য।

আগামী ২ অক্টোবরের মধ্যে ইকো পার্কে এই স্টল চালু করার চেষ্টা করছে SFDC। HIDCO  তার কফি হাউসের জন্য  SFDC থেকে যতটা সম্ভব মাছ সংগ্রহ করতে পারবে। ইতিমধ্যেই নলবনে একটি দোকান চালু করেছে  SFDC । রাজ্যের ও বাইরে থেকে আসা প্রকৃতি তীর্থের সব পর্যটকদের কাছে এই স্টলগুলি বেশ আকর্ষণীয় হবে। এর মাধ্যমে তারা মাছের বিভিন্ন পদের আস্বাদ গ্রহণ করতে পারবেন।

যেহেতু সব স্টল গুলিই পুজোর আগে খোলা হবে সেজন্যএর ওপর বিশেষ জোর দেওয়া হচ্ছে। একই ধরনের একটি স্টল (রাজ্য সচিবালয়) নবান্নের বিপরীতেও খোলা হবে।

In order to make women living in the far-flung regions of West Bengal self-sufficient, the State Fisheries Department has thought up an innovative programme – rearing of coloured fishes. The women would set up the culturing of such fish through self-help groups that they would form. According to the Fisheries Minister, there is a huge demand for such fishes for aquariums in both national and international markets.

The well-thought out plan by the Department includes the setting up of two well-equipped marketplaces for the selling of such fishes by the women – in Amtala in South 24 Parganas district and in Dasnagar in Howrah district, with financial help from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) and the National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC), respectively.

It is sincerely hoped by the State Government that this project would be another step towards empowering the women of the State.

রঙ্গিন মাছ প্রতিপালনের মাধ্যমে মহিলাদের স্বনির্ভর করার প্রচেষ্টা রাজ্যের

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলে বসবাসরত মহিলাদের স্বনির্ভর করার জন্য রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তর একটি উদ্ভাবনী পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে তা হল রঙ্গিন মাছ প্রতিপালন। মহিলারা একটি স্বনির্ভর গ্রুপ গঠন করে এই ধরনের মাছ চাষ করবে। মৎস্য মন্ত্রীর মতে, জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারে অ্যাকোরিয়ামের রঙিন মাছের ব্যাপক চাহিদা রয়েছে।

রঙিন মাছ বিক্রির জন্য হাওড়া জেলার দাসনগর ও দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনা জেলার আমতলায় দুটি সুসজ্জিত বিপণন কেন্দ্র গঠন করা হবে যেখানে মহিলারা এই সব মাছ বিক্রি করতে পারবেন। ন্যাশনাল ফিশারিজ ডেভেলপমেন্ট বোর্ড (NFDB) এবং ন্যাশনাল কো-অপারেটিভ ডেভেলপমেন্ট কর্পোরেশন (NCDC) এদের আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদান করবে।

এটা আশা করা যায় যে রাজ্য সরকারের এই প্রকল্প নিঃসন্দেহে রাজ্যের নারীর ক্ষমতায়নে এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ।

The State Government has taken some major steps to revive fisheries in Bengal. Its Fisheries Department has planned to increase the production of local fish species and cultivate endangered ones.

Fisheries Minister Chandranath Sinha said, “Our department has taken many steps to boost fish production. The Chief Minister has asked us to come up with a comprehensive plan for the next five years. We are also making plans for the next 10 years.”

“In our state, the demand for fish is huge. Our Chief Minister has ordered fish cultivation to be increased in our State. So we have decided to increase fish production,” the minister added.

“We are working on some new breeds of fish. We have planned to use at least one large waterbody in every district to cultivate different kinds of fishes,” Sinha added.

Meanwhile, the department has set up laboratories in almost one-third of the blocks in West Bengal where people can get the soil and water in their local water bodies tested free of cost and get suggestions from agricultural scientists on how to improve the water bodies.

They will also get information about what kinds of fishes should be cultivated there. The minister said that within the next few years, every block in the State will have laboratories to assist farmers and fishermen.

 

মাছ উত্পাদন বাড়াতে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য

রাজ্য সরকার বাংলায় মৎস্যচাষ পুনরুজ্জীবিত করার জন্য কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করেছে। মৎস্য বিভাগ সাধারণ প্রজাতির মাছের উৎপাদন এবং বিপনণ বৃদ্ধির পরিকল্পনা করেছে।

মৎস্যমন্ত্রী চন্দ্রনাথ সিনহা বলেন, “মাছ উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধির জন্য অনেক পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে আমাদের দপ্তর। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী আমাদের নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন আগামী পাঁচ বছরের জন্য একটি পরিকল্পনা তৈরি করার। আমরা আগামী ১০ বছরের পরিকল্পনাও করছি”।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “আমাদের রাজ্যে মাছে বিপুল চাহিদা। তাই রাজ্যে মাছের উৎপাদন আরও বৃদ্ধির নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। তাই আমরা মাছ উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধির সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি”।

মন্ত্রী জানান, “আমরা কিছু নতুন ব্রিড নিয়ে কাজ করছি। প্রতি জেলায় অন্তত একটি বড় জলাশয় ব্যবহার করে তাতে বিভিন্ন ধরণের মাছ চাষ করার পরিকল্পনা আছে আমাদের”।

এদিকে, বাংলায় সব ব্লকের প্রায় এক তৃতীয়াংশে ল্যাবরেটরিজ স্থাপন করেছে মৎস্যদপ্তর। এখানে চাষিরা মাটি, জল বিনামূল্যে পরীক্ষা করতে পারবেন এবং কিভাবে তাদের জলাশয়ের মান উন্নত করা যায় সে ব্যাপারেও কৃষিবিজ্ঞানীদের থেকে পরামর্শ পেতে পারবেন।

কি ধরনের মাছ চাষ করা উচিত এর মাধ্যমে তারা এব্যাপারে তথ্য পাবেন। মন্ত্রী জানান আগামী কিছু বছরের মধ্যেই রাজ্যের প্রতিটি ব্লকে কৃষক ও জেলেদের সহায়তার জন্য ল্যাবরেটরি তৈরি হয়ে যাবে।
