The footfall at Eco Park has crossed the 75 lakh mark according to a statistics issued by the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO). Exactly 75,01,629 have visited the Eco Park.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the park on December 29, 2012 and it was thrown open to public from January 1, 2013. The park was set up on a 480-acre land and is surrounded by 112 acres of waterbody.

The park has become the most attractive destination for both domestic and foreign tourists because of its uniqueness. There are flower gardens and mystic gardens and the new addition will be a hibiscus garden. There is an arena where people can enjoy cycling and also a joggers’ ally. There is a zone for other indoor games as well and people can go for boating inside the park.

Two restaurants, Café Ekanta renamed by Chief Minister and a houseboat restaurant offer mouthwatering dishes. The USP of Eco Park is cleanliness. A person littering or throwing soiled papers and plastic outside waste bins are fined.

 

নিউটাউন ইকোপার্কে পর্যটকের সংখ্যা ছাড়াল ৭৫ লক্ষ

নিউটাউনের এক পার্ক এখন এক জমজমাট পর্যটন কেন্দ্র। ২০১২ সালে এই পার্কের উদ্বোধনের পর থেকে এখানে এখন অবধি ৭৫ লক্ষেরও বেশি মানুষ এসেছেন, এমনটাই দাবি হিডকোর।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ২০১২ সালের ২৯শে ডিসেম্বর এই পার্কটির উদ্বোধন করেন ও ২০১৩ সালের ১লা জানুয়ারি সাধারন মানুষের জন্য পার্কটি খুলে দেওয়া হয়। ১১২ একরের একটি জলাশয়কে ঘিরে ৪৮০ একর জমিতে তৈরী হয়েছে এই পার্কটি।

ইতিমধ্যেই এক পার্ক দেশী ও বিদেশী পর্যটকদের মন জয় করে নিয়েছে। এখানে আছে বিভিন্ন ধরনের ফুলের বাগান, জগিং ও সাইক্লিং করার জায়গা, বিভিন্ন ইনডোর গেমস। পাশাপাশি মানুষ এখানে বোটিংও করতে পারেন। ভোজনরসিকদের জন্য এখানে আছে নানা খাবারের সম্ভার; রয়েছে ক্যাফে একান্তে।

পার্কের পরিচ্ছন্নতা একে করে তুলেছে দর্শকদের কাছে আরও মনোগ্রাহী। কেউ নির্দিষ্ট স্থান ছাড়া নোংরা ফেললে বা কোনও ভাবে পার্কটিকে অপরিচ্ছন্ন করলে তাকে ফাইন দিতে হয়।

A unique sculpture garden which is coming up at Eco Park will be inaugurated in March. The garden will portray through murals and paintings, the history of Bengal from Sri Chaitanya to Satyajit Ray.

There will be 12 murals associated with great movements that had taken place in Bengal from Sri Chaitanya’s time. There will be a mural on the Battle of Plassey. The contribution of Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Bankim Chandra will also be displayed. There will be murals on the Santal and Indigo revolution.

Swami Vivekananda’s call to the youth will also be displayed along with the contribution of Sri Aurobindo, the revolutionary who later became a saint. The contribution of Netaji Subhas Chandra and INA will be displayed. There will be murals on the history of Bengal’s cultural evolution from Lalan Fakir to Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Life of Rabindranath Tagore and setting up of Visva Bharati will also be displayed. There will be a mural of Satyajit Roy and his world of films. Besides the murals, there will be 52 portraits of great personalities coming from different walks of life. There will be portraits of Sri Chaitanya up to Begum Rokeya.

 

ইকো পার্কে চালু হবে ভাস্কর্য উদ্যান

মার্চ মাসে ইকো পার্কে যাত্রা শুরু হবে এক অনন্য ভাস্কর্য উদ্যানের। নানা ছবির মাধ্যমে এই উদ্যানে তুলে ধরা হবে বাংলার ইতিহাস।

শ্রী চৈতন্য মহাপ্রভুর সময় থেকে শুরু করে বাংলায় নানা পর্যায়ের ইতিহাস সংক্রান্ত ১২টি ছবি থাকবে এখানে। পলাশীর যুদ্ধ, রাজা রামমোহন রায়, বঙ্কিম চন্দ্রের অবদান তুলে ধরা হবে। সাঁওতাল বিদ্রোহ থেকে শুরু করে নীল বিদ্রোহের ইতিহাসও থাকবে এখানে।

স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ, শ্রী অরবিন্দ, নেতাজি সুভাষচন্দ্র বসুর আজাদ হিন্দ বাহিনীর সাথেও স্থান পাবে লালন ফকির ও নজরুলের কথাও। রবীন্দ্রনাথের জীবনীও বিষয় হবে এখানকার একটি ছবির। সত্যজিৎ রায়ের সিনেমা নিয়েও থাকবে ছবি।

এছাড়াও ৫২জন মনীষীর প্রতিকৃতি থাকবে এই উদ্যানে।

The Japanese Garden at Eco Park will be opened in the last week of December.
An expert from Japan will visit the park in the third week of December to oversee the final touches that are being given. The Japanese Garden will be the only one of its kind garden in the state.
Eco Park renamed as Prakriti Tirtha by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is the most sought after tourist destination of Kolkata in New Town. The footfall of visitors has been more than 53 lakh since its inception, four years ago.
The statues of Buddha brought from Suruchi Sanga and Chetla Agrani will be displayed to decorate the garden which will come up on 3.5 acre of land. It may be recalled that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked the chairman of Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation’s (HIDCO) chairman Debashis Sen to select a place and display the pieces of art permanently during the great immersion carnival held in October on Red Road.
Work is going on a war footing to give the Japanese garden the final shape. There will be statues of laughing Buddha to welcome the visitors. There will be a three layer pagoda along with a monastery, drawing inspiration from the Ryonji monastery. There will also be a meditation room. To entertain the visitors, there will be a restaurant where Japanese food would be served. It will be run by Café Ekante, a star attraction of Eco Park which has been lauded by the foodies of the city because of its high quality. Talks are on with a chef who is an expert in Japanese food. There will lanterns and lights to give the area the look of mini Japan.
The Eco Park which stands on 480 acre of land with a 104 acre of water body surrounding it was inaugurated by Mamata Banerjee on December 29, 2012. It is divided into three broad areas- ecological zone comprising wetlands, grassland and urban forest, theme garden and open space and urban recreation spaces.
There is a famous toy train of Darjeeling and a replica of Ghoom railway station. The different gardens have attracted the visitors as well as the urban recreation spaces where people can cycle and walk. The houseboat restaurant and Café Ekante also renamed by the Chief Minister have become immensely popular. The USP of Eco Park is cleanliness. People are fined Rs 100 if they throw garbage in the open.

ডিসেম্বর মাসের শেষ সপ্তাহে ইকো পার্কের জাপানি উদ্যানের উদ্বোধন হতে চলেছে। ডিসেম্বর মাসের তৃতীয় সপ্তাহে জাপান থেকে এক বিশেষজ্ঞ দল ইকো পার্ক পরিদর্শন করতে আসবেন শেষ মুহূর্তে সব কিছু পরীক্ষা করতে। এই ধরনের উদ্যান এই দেশে একেবারেই প্রথম।

কলকাতার সব পর্যটন কেন্দ্রের মধ্যে এই মুহূর্তে জনপ্রিয়তম হল ইকো পার্ক যা মুখ্যমন্ত্রী নতুন নামকরন করেছেন প্রকৃতি তীর্থ হিসেবে। মাত্র চার বছরে এখানে ৫৩ লাখেরও বেশি মানুষের সমাগম হয়েছে।

সুরুচি সঙ্ঘ ও চেতলা অগ্রণী থেকে সংগ্রহ করা বুদ্ধমূর্তি দিয়ে সাজিয়ে সাড়ে তিন একরের ওপর গড়ে উঠতে চলা এই উদ্যানের সৌন্দর্য বৃদ্ধি করা হবে। প্রসঙ্গত উল্লেক্ষ্য অক্টোবর মাসের রেড রোডের দুর্গা পুজোর বিসর্জন যাত্রা থেকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় হিডকোর চেয়ারম্যানকে নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলেন শিল্পকলার নিদর্শনগুলোকে পাকাপাকিভাবে সংরক্ষণ করা হোক ও সেগুলো জনগনের দেখার সুযোগ করে দেওয়া।

যুদ্ধকালীন তৎপরতায় উদ্যানটি তৈরির কাজ শেষ করা হচ্ছে। লাফিং বুদ্ধর মূর্তি দ্বারা পর্যটকদের স্বাগত জানানো হবে। একটি মনেস্ত্রি সহ ত্রিস্তরীও প্যাগোডা থাকবে যা রিওঞ্জি মনেস্ত্রির আদলে তৈরি। অখানে একটি ধ্যান কক্ষ থাকবে, জাপানি খাবার পাওয়া যাবে এমন একটি রেস্টুরেন্টও থাকবে। এই রেস্টুরেন্টটির পরিচালনা করবে ক্যাফে একান্তে, যারা এই শহরের ভোজনরসিকদের কাছে খুবই জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করেছে। একজন জাপানি রাধুনির সঙ্গে কথাবার্তা চলছে। জায়গাটি ছোট ছোট লন্ঠন ও আলো দ্বারা সাজানো হবে জাপানের মত পরিবেশ তৈরি করতে।

ইকো পার্ক যা ৪৮০ একর জমির ওপর তৈরি যার মধ্যে ১০৪ একর জলাশয়, মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ২৯সে ডিসেম্বর ২০১২ সালে উদ্বোধন করেন। পুরো অঞ্চলটি তিন ভাগে বিভক্ত – বাস্তুসংস্থান সংক্রান্ত, থিম উদ্যান ও বিনোদনের জন্য একটি ভাগ রাখা হয়েছে।

এখানে দার্জিলিঙের বিখ্যাত টয় ট্রেন ও ঘুম স্টেশনের প্রতিকৃতিও তৈরি করা হবে। এখানকার বিভিন্ন উদ্যান পর্যটকদের আকর্ষণ করেছে ও সাইকেল চালানোর স্থানটিও। হাউসবোট রেস্টুরেন্টটি ও ক্যাফে একান্তে যেগুলোর পুনঃনামকরন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী করেন, খুবই জনপ্রিয় হয়ে উঠেছে। ইকো পার্কের মুখ্য আকর্ষণ হল পরিচ্ছন্নতা, কেউ ওখানে নোংরা ফেললে তাকে ১০০ টাকা জরিমানা দিতে হয়।

HIDCO, the State Government agency which has already undertaken the mammoth task of beautifying New Town, will begin conservation of handicrafts and artworks that were created by various Durga Puja organisers.

It will also display the beautiful handicrafts and artworks across Eco Park in New Town.

While artworks made out of fibreglass, stone, steel and similar materials will be kept outdoors at Eco Park, those made out of wood, cotton and earth will be kept indoors.

For outdoor installations, a brick and cement foundation with spotlights and fencing would be built by HIDCO. For indoor objects, an air-conditioned facility would be set up at Mother’s Wax Museum-II, which is to be commissioned shortly: till then, these are to be kept in storage rooms within Eco Park.

 

দুর্গাপুজো মণ্ডপগুলির শিল্প সংরক্ষণে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য

রাজ্য সরকারী সংস্থা হিডকো নিউ টাউনে নানা দুর্গাপুজো মণ্ডপগুলির শিল্প–নিদর্শন সংরক্ষণের ব্যবস্থা করবে। নিউ টাউনের ইকো পার্কে দুর্গাপুজো মণ্ডপগুলির বিভিন্ন হস্তশিল্প এবং কারুকার্য প্রদর্শন করা হবে।

ফাইবার গ্লাস, পাথর, ইস্পাত এবং অনুরূপ উপকরণ দিয়ে তৈরি হস্তশিল্পগুলি রাখা হবে ইকো পার্কের বাইরের অংশে। আর কাঠ, কাপড় এই জাতীয় হস্তশিল্পগুলি স্থান পাবে প্রদর্শনশালার ভিতরের অংশে।

বাইরে  ইনস্টলেশনের জন্য, স্পটলাইট এবং বেড়া দিয়ে একটি ইট ও সিমেন্ট ভিত্তিপ্রস্তর নির্মাণ করবে হিডকো। ভেতরের শিল্প–নিদর্শন মাদার অয়াক্স মিউজিয়াম -II তে একটি শীতাতপ নিয়ন্ত্রিত ঘরে রাখা হবে। যতদিন না এগুলো ইকো পার্কের অন্য কোন স্থানে পাঠানো হচ্ছে ততদিন পর্যন্ত এগুলো ওখানেই রাখা থাকবে।

The West Bengal Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation is setting up a Japanese garden that will come up on 3.5 acres of land and will be situated next to the central lake at Eco Park.

Two months would be required to complete the project. The Japanese forest will be the first of its kind in the State. The project has been taken up to commemorate the centenary of Rabindranath Tagore’s first visit to Japan over 100 years ago.

There would be a large gate with ticketing kiosks and a huge rain shelter canopy. The walkway will be decorated with numerous garden elements of Shinto, lanterns and small and large Buddha sculptures, walking stone and many others. Various types of bamboo plants will be planted in an organic manner to replicate the forests.

Lanterns in stone and weathered sculptures will be arranged to give the area a natural and aesthetic look. Small smiling Buddha sculptures will welcome the visitors at the entrance. A monastery with a centrally located Pagoda, an inspiration from Ryonji monastery will be made which is a space for meditation.

The monastery will have a three-layer Pagoda. It is the replica of an original Pagoda. A central pond will be created with Japanese semi circular bridge across it. A wish fountain will also be set up. There will be 15 covered Japanese food outlet where specially cooked Japanese food will be served.

Once completed the garden would be a wonderful place to visit. The place and the ambience will woo visitors, he said. It may be mentioned that Eco Park has become the most popular tourist destination and over 50 lakh people have visited the place since its inception.

 

নিউটাউনে তৈরী হচ্ছে জাপানী গার্ডেন

WBHIDCOর উদ্যোগে নিউটাউনের ইকোপার্কে ৩.৫ একর জমির ওপর গড়ে উঠতে চলেছে জাপানী গার্ডেন। এই গার্ডেনটি তৈরী করতে দু মাস লাগবে। রাজ্যে এই প্রথম জাপানীস গার্ডেন গড়ে উঠবে। মূলত রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের জাপান সফরের স্মৃতিতে নেওয়া হয়েছে এই উদ্যোগ।

এই পার্কে একটি বিশাল দরজা তৈরী করা হবে যাতে সয়ংক্রিয় টিকেটের মেশিন থাকবে ও একটি বিশাল শামিয়ানা থাকবে বৃষ্টি থেকে বাঁচতে। যাতায়াতের রাস্তাটিকে প্রচুর পরিমানে শিন্তো, লণ্ঠন ও বুদ্ধমূর্তি, পাথর ও নানারকম জিনিস দ্বারা সাজানো হবে। জৈব পদ্ধতিতে বাঁশগাছ দিয়ে জায়গাটি সাজানো হবে অরণ্যের আবহ তৈরী করতে।

এই জাপানী গার্ডেন এর নান্দনিক শোভা বাড়াতে থাকবে নানা মূর্তি। প্রবেশদ্বারে থাকবে লাফিং বুদ্ধ মূর্তি, দর্শকদের স্বাগত জানাতে। ধ্যান করার জন্য এই উদ্যানের কেন্দ্রস্থলে একটি প্যাগোডা বিশিষ্ট বৌদ্ধমঠ থাকবে রায়ণজি মঠের অনুকরণে। এর মাঝে একটি পুকুর তৈরী করা হবে ও সঙ্গে জাপানি অর্ধবৃত্তাকার সেতু দিয়ে ঘেরা থাকবে। ওখানে ১৫টি জাপানি খাবারের দোকানও থাকবে।

স্বভাবতই এই জাপানী গার্ডেন ভবিষ্যতে একটি জনপ্রিয় গন্তব্য হয়ে উঠবে পর্যটকদের কাছে

The State Fisheries department will open its food stall “All fish” before the Pujas. The West Bengal Housing and Infrastructure Development Department will handover 100 hectare of water-bodies in New Town to the State Fisheries Department Corporation.

A space in Eco Park’s Heliconia garden will also be given to SFDC to set up its stall “All Fish.” The decision to hand over the water bodies was based upon a directive of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that different departments should hand over water bodies to the fisheries department for fish farming at a meeting presided over by her on June 3 in the Town Hall.

Accordingly, the water bodies at Upasanashthal (8.74 hectare), water treatment plant (30 hectare), Eco Urban village (15 hectare), SWM area (30 hectare), Diler bheri (17 hectare) were identified to be handed over to SFDC on a 50: 50 profit sharing basis after a moratorium of one year.

The SFDC would try to open the “All fish” stall in Eco Park by October 2.  HIDCO would source its fish requirements for Café Ekante from SFDC as much as possible. SFDC already runs a stall in Nalban. The All Fish stall will be a star attraction at Prakriti Tirtha as the tourists from other states and countries would love to taste the various preparations of fish, staple to Bengali cuisine.

As the “All fish” stall will be opened before the Pujas it is likely to grab attention. A similar stall is also being opened opposite Nabanna, the State Secretariat.

 

মৎস্যপ্রেমী বাঙালির রসনা তৃপ্তিতে রাজ্যের নতুন উদ্যোগ

রাজ্য মৎস্য বিভাগ পুজোর আগেই সব জায়গায় মাছের দোকান খুলবে যেখানে সব রকম মাছ পাওয়া যাবে। রাজ্যের স্বরাষ্ট্র ও ইনফ্রাস্ট্রাকচার ডেভেলপমেন্ট ডিপার্টমেন্ট প্রায় ১০০ হেক্টর জলাশয় রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তরকে দিয়েছে।

ইকো পার্কের হেলিকনিয়া গার্ডেন SFDC -কে একটি জায়গা দেবে এই স্টল তৈরি করার জন্য। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নিদেশেই এই জলাশয়গুলি হস্তান্তর করা হচ্ছে। মাছ চাষ করার জন্য বিভিন্ন দপ্তরের উচিত মৎস্য বিভাগকে জলাশয় হস্তান্তর করা। এই উপলক্ষে গত ৩ জুন মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নেতৃত্বে টাউন হলে একটি বৈঠক হয়।

উপাসনাস্থল (৮.৭৪ হেক্টর), ওয়াটার ট্রিটমেন্ট প্ল্যান্ট (৩০ হেক্টর), SWM এলাকা (৩০ হেক্টর), দিলের ভেরি (১৭ হেক্টর) এগুলি চিহ্নিত করা হয়েছে হস্তান্তর করার জন্য।

আগামী ২ অক্টোবরের মধ্যে ইকো পার্কে এই স্টল চালু করার চেষ্টা করছে SFDC। HIDCO  তার কফি হাউসের জন্য  SFDC থেকে যতটা সম্ভব মাছ সংগ্রহ করতে পারবে। ইতিমধ্যেই নলবনে একটি দোকান চালু করেছে  SFDC । রাজ্যের ও বাইরে থেকে আসা প্রকৃতি তীর্থের সব পর্যটকদের কাছে এই স্টলগুলি বেশ আকর্ষণীয় হবে। এর মাধ্যমে তারা মাছের বিভিন্ন পদের আস্বাদ গ্রহণ করতে পারবেন।

যেহেতু সব স্টল গুলিই পুজোর আগে খোলা হবে সেজন্যএর ওপর বিশেষ জোর দেওয়া হচ্ছে। একই ধরনের একটি স্টল (রাজ্য সচিবালয়) নবান্নের বিপরীতেও খোলা হবে।

For those who want to enjoy nature amidst abundant sunlight, West Bengal Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO) is coming up with day cottages at its Eco Urban village.

Chairman of WBHIDCO said four day cottages would be set up in the Eco Urban village. The cottages would be made of straws. There will be ethnic furniture made out of simple style. The tourists can come in the morning, spend some time in the cottage and then go for cycling or enjoy the water body.

It may be recalled that WBHIDCO had organised some hitherto forgotten sports like guli (marble), dang guli, lattu (top) at the Eco Urban Village last year to give the youngsters a taste of the games that used to be played.

The Eco Urban village is situated close to Eco Park. The park has a huge water body and over 52 lakh people have visited the site since its inception.

 

 

ইকো আরবান ভিলেজে ডে কটেজ চালু করছে হিডকো

প্রকৃতিপ্রেমীদের জন্য ইকো আরবান ভিলেজে কটেজ তৈরি করছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ স্বরাষ্ট্র ও পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়ন কর্পোরেশন (WBHIDCO)।

হিডকোর চেয়ারম্যান জানিয়েছেন, ৪টি ডে কটেজ স্থাপিত হবে ইকো আরবান ভিলেজে। খড় দিয়ে তৈরি করা হবে এই কটেজ। সেখানে বেশ কিছু সুন্দর আসবাবপত্রও রাখা থাকবে। পর্যটকরা সকালে আসবেন, সেখনে কিছু সময় কাটাবেন। এছাড়া সাইকেল চালিয়ে তারা সমগ্র জায়গাটিও উপভোগ করতে পারবেন।

যুবকদের উ९সাহিত করার জন্য, গত বছর হিডকো বেশ কিছু খেলা যেমন – গুলি, ডাংগুলি, লাট্টু ইত্যদির আয়োজন করেছিল।

এই ইকো আরবান ভিলেজ ইকো পার্কের খুব কাছেই অবস্থিত। পার্কটিতে একটি বৃহ९ জলাশয় রয়েছে এবং প্রায় ৫২ লক্ষ মানুষ এই জায়গাটি পরিদর্শন করতে পারে।

A tall tree nursery has been inaugurated on the canal bank opposite Upasanasthal in New Town.

West Bengal Forest Minister Benoy Krishna Burman was present during the inauguration ceremony, along with senior officials of state Forest department.

The department has planned to plant 40,000 saplings in New Town. Ten thousand pits have been dug and they will require two days of rain to fill them up, after which planting of saplings on a massive scale will begin from July 25.

Neem, tentul (tamarind) and other varieties of trees will be planted all over New Town, which the West Bengal government has planned to turn into a ‘green city’.

There was not a single tree on the main road until five years ago. The situation, however, improved with the change of guard in 2011. After coming to power, the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government gave special attention to develop the area. A large water body, covering 100-odd acres, was properly utilised and on its bank Prakriti Tirtha, popularly known as Eco Park, was set up.

The park is unique and has recorded a footfall of over 50 lakh since its inception. New Town is a classic example of balance between nature and development. HIDCO is allotting 10 per cent more floor area ratio (FAR) to builders ready to set up ‘green buildings’. These buildings will have rain and waste water harvesting structures and solar panels.

 

‘টল ট্রি নার্সারি’-র উদ্বোধন হল নিউ টাউনে

নিউ টাউনে উপাসনাস্থলের বিপরীতে একটি খালের তীরে .একটি লম্বা গাছের নার্সারি উদ্বোধন করা হয়েছে।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ বনমন্ত্রী বিনয় কৃষ্ণ বর্মণ উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। এছাড়া  রাজ্য বন বিভাগের ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তারাও এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। The

বন বিভাগ নিউ টাউনে ৪০০০০ চারাগাছ রোপণ করার পরিকল্পনা করেছে। দশ হাজার গর্ত খনন করা হয়েছে এবং সেগুলি ভরাট করার জন্য অন্তত দু’দিন বৃষ্টি প্রয়োজন। ২৫ শে জুলাই থেকে থেকে বৃহৎ আকারে চারা রোপণ পরিকল্পনা শুরু হবে।

শহরকে ‘সবুজ শহর’-এ পরিণত করার লক্ষে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাজ্য সরকার। নিম, তেতুল ও গাছের অন্যান্য বিভিন্ন রকমের গাছ লাগানো হবে নিউ টাউনে।

পাঁচ বছর আগে রাস্তার ধারে কোন গাছ ছিল না। পরিস্থিতি যাই হোক, ২০১১ সালে ক্ষমতায় আসার পর পরিস্থিতি অনেক উন্নত হয়েছে। মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় পরিচালিত তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস এলাকার বিকাশে নজর দিয়েছেন। ১০০ একর জমির ওপর একটি বৃহৎ জলাশয় সহ প্রকৃতি তীর্থ তৈরি করা হয়েছে যা ইকো পার্ক নামে পরিচিত।

This monsoon, the Eco Park in New Town will get a new attraction in the form of ‘green sculpture’.

The sculpture, contrary to its name, will not be green in colour, but will be aimed at conveying the message of living in harmony with nature and the environment.

West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) – the nodal agency for development in New Town – has decided to decorate Eco Park, which has become the city’s hottest tourist destination, by installing green statues. An area of about 875 square feet, on the grass bed of the park, has been demarcated for the installation.

Eco Park itself is home to different statues made of fiber and iron. The Mask Garden here is one of the most popular places to visit. The New Town street, alongside the Biswa Bangla Sarani, has been decked with several sculptures – a huge white owl, Mahatma Gandhi’s famous Dandi march – which are a major attraction to onlookers.

এই বর্ষায় নিউ টাউনের ইকো পার্কে পরিবেশবান্ধব ভাস্কর্য এক নতুন আকর্ষণ আসতে চলেছে।

ভাস্কর্যটির রং সবুজ হবে না, কিন্তু প্রকৃতি এবং পরিবেশের সঙ্গে সঙ্গতি বজায় থাকে সেদিকে লক্ষ্য করা হবে।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ হাউজিং ইনফ্রাস্ট্রাকচার ডেভেলপমেন্ট কর্পোরেশন (HIDCO) – নিউ টাউনের উন্নয়নের নোডাল এজেন্সি – ইকো পার্ককে সাজানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। এটি এখন শহরের সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় পর্যটন কেন্দ্রে পরিণত হয়েছে। ৮৭৫ বর্গ ফুট এলাকার ওপর এটি নির্মিত হয়েছে।

ইকোপার্ক ফাইবার এবং লোহার তৈরি বিভিন্ন মূর্তি রয়েছে। মাস্ক গার্ডেন এখানকার সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় জায়গা। বিশ্ববাংলা সরণির পাশাপাশি, নিউ টাউনের রাস্তায়, একটি বিশাল সাদা পেঁচা, মহাত্মা গান্ধী বিখ্যাত ডান্ডি মার্চ সহ বিভিন্ন ভাস্কর্য দিয়ে সাজিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে – যা দর্শকদের কাছে একটি প্রধান আকর্ষণ।

Last Friday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated four projects in and around Eco Park in New Town, Kolkata, from Kshudiram Anushilan Kendra.

Ever since its inception, Eco Park has been a magnet of attraction for children and adults alike. No weekend goes by that does not see happy faces milling around the place and adjoining places like Mother’s Wax Museum.

New sites are constantly added to make it a happening place. Like last Friday, when a beautiful deer park-cum-deer treatment centre, spread over 12 acres, named Harinalaya, was inaugurated.

Three other sites were inaugurated. The park got a model of the famous Ghum railway station near Darjeeling, complete with a model toy train (Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, better known as the Toy Train, is a UNESCO World Heritage site).

A wax model of Maa Sarada, along with those of 23 others, was inaugurated at Mother’s Wax Museum. Also inaugurated was a pedestrian subway connecting the museum and Eco Park, designed with brilliant graphics.

 

নিউটাউনকে আরও কিছু পর্যটন স্থান উপহার দিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

গত শুক্রবার নিউটাউনের ইকো পার্কে হরিণালয় উদ্বোধন করলেন মাননিয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। প্রায় এক বছরের মধ্যে ইকো পার্কের ৫ ও ৬ নং গেট সংলগ্ন প্রায় ১০ একর জায়গায় গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে এই হরিণালয়টি। এখানে হরিণদের জন্য একটি চিকিৎসালয় ও গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।

এছাড়াও ইকো পার্কে দার্জিলিঙের ঘুম স্টেশনের ছোট সংস্করণ তৈরি করা হয়েছে। গতকাল এটিরও উদ্বোধন করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। এখন থেকে এটি সাধারন মানুষের পরিদর্শনের জন্য খুলে দেওয়া হল।

পাশাপাশি নিউটাউনের মাদার ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়ামে সারদা মায়ের মূর্তি উদ্বোধন করেন এদিন। এই নিয়ে মাদার ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়ামে মোট ২১টি মূর্তি বসানো হল। মাদার ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়াম বর্তমানে কলকাতার মানুষের কাছে একটি আকর্ষণের কেন্দ্রবিন্দু হয়ে উঠেছে।

এদিন নিউটাউনের দ্বিতীয় সাবওয়েরও উদ্বোধন করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।
