Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today visited the Parliament where she met leaders of various political parties. She met MPs from TRS, TDP, RJD, DMK and the Shiv Sena. The CM held a meeting with NCP leader Sharad Pawar Ji also.

Following the meetings, the Trinamool Chairperson addressed the media at the party office in Parliament.

Highlights of her speech:

Today, they (govt at the Centre) appear to have captured everything. Just see, before the EC announces the dates (of Karnataka elections), the party is tweeting it. What is this? All the agencies are being used and misused like anything. It’s not for any political party to know… this is a very bad gesture.

Be it the TDP, the Shiv Sena, or TRS, they were all with the BJP. Now they have all left. Which party does the BJP have good ties with? And if Akhilesh (Yadav) and Mayawati are together, then no one can do anything.

False news are being spread by the BJP after it sets itself up with the media. They use money to spread fake news. I don’t believe a single bit of it.

Mayawati ji is a national leader and I respect her. If she and Akhilesh (Yadav) call a meeting in Lucknow and invite us, we will all go. And they should offer us a cup of tea!

I was with NDA once when Atal ji was in charge. There was no problem. But now they are in control of everything, including the media. If the judiciary and the media are controlled from somewhere, then how will democracy function? You all write about them, but also write what the Opposition says. Now, 80 per cent of the news is fake news. Why should it be that those who have money can only do politics?

Political parties must sacrifice for the people, they must do social work. They just can’t brag about building the largest party office in the country. Politics means dedication and devotion. It is not a business, not a commercial obligation. It is a social compulsion. That is the basic difference between the political parties and the others.

I have been an MP for seven terms – I have served as the minister in different departments; I have been part of standing committees. I can sense the mood of the Parliament. All I can say about 2019 is that the mood in Parliament is different. Members have started, what shall I say, packing their bags.

Otherwise how will you explain a no-confidence motion, whichever party’s it may be, lying in the House with no discussion? Opposition parties want discussion. But if one of them, the AIADMK, have their demands, the other parties too have theirs. They should understand that. Had Jayalalitha Ji been alive now, she would not have supported this (action of AIADMK). It is unfortunate she is no more. I had great respect for her. But now they will not listen to any other party. We have not brought a no-confidence, but we should listen to what the others who have have to say. Even the BJP is afraid – several MPs will not vote (in favour of the government). That is what I’ve heard… those who have not got tickets… that is what is doing the rounds.

The DMK will win in Tamil Nadu with a landslide; in Telangana TRS, and Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP is also pretty good in Andhra. Regarding BSP-SP alliance, sometimes there are political compulsions. That is political adjustment, political reality. The Shiv Sena is also fighting (against the BJP). There is no party more communal than the BJP. In the name of Hinduism, they organise rallies with pistols in their hands. They are giving Hinduism a bad name.

We want to work together. No one should remain isolated. Wherever someone is strong, they should be allowed to lead. If in UP Mayawati and Akhilesh are strong, they should work together. We should help them. In Tamil Nadu, we should help the DMK. Like this there are some other states where a regional party is strong. We have to help them. Like TRS in Telangana; we will help them. In Bihar, we will help Lalu Ji, while in Odisha, the BJD is strong; we will help Naveen Pattanaik. That is how it should be done, so that the contest is one is to one.

I just had a meeting with Sharad Pawar Ji… we are all of the same opinion. I met some parties today and will again meet some other parties tomorrow. I’ll be meeting Shatrughan Sinha, Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie – they will be coming to my house tomorrow. Sonia (Gandhi) Ji is not well. I sent Dinesh Trivedi to her house to enquire about her health. Let her recover. I keep in touch with her every day.

The data stealing is bad. Everyone’s data has been stolen. And even at this moment, when I am talking with you, there may be a sting operation going on. Politics has been replaced by sting operations. You pay money and get something done against someone. That is what is happening now. I’m surprised. Leaders are saying they have to gamble and end the careers of their adversaries. I have never heard such things before.

I will keep raising my voice against linking Aadhaar to bank accounts and phones. Even if nobody is there, I will raise my voice alone. It has been proved now. There are no rights – no privacy, no fundamental or democratic rights… where will the people go? Is this a democratic country? Even after the Supreme Court gave an observation that a Constitution Bench will take it (Aadhaar linking issue) up, the banks are sending messages every day to link… this a contempt of the Supreme Court.

And it’s not just Cambridge Analytica… with money, they are using and misusing various agencies. I respect bureaucrats. But I will appeal to them not to misuse everything that is asked for by a political party for its gain. A party is in power today and will be gone tomorrow. Why should they be victimised for that?

And the media too – I don’t blame you because you are the employees. But the media owners should understand. All the support is one-sided. Democracy means both the sides should have a voice. All these dealings have come out in Cobrapost. We have seen everything… Are all these signs of ‘achhe din?’ It either has to be an impartial institution or a BJP institution. What should it be, you say? It is very unfortunate that all the agencies are being controlled like this. It is not good for the country. What are we leaving for the future generations?

Everyone must come out boldly and tell the truth. It doesn’t matter if they send the ED or CBI – we are not afraid of that.

One thing that the media must take notice of is that a message has gone across the country, to the grassroots. After demonetisation, GST, and bank fraud, whether you admit it or not, the amount of harassment the public has faced has resulted in this government losing all its credibility, all its credentials. It’s credibility has become zero. It is not the people’s choice now. And they are still giving threats…

I have gone to all the states. They have their own compulsions. That is why we respect all the states.

 

বিজেপির সময় শেষ হয়ে এসেছে: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

আজ দিল্লীতে সংসদ ভবনে যান মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সেখানে দলের কার্যালয়ে তিনি বিভিন্ন দলের সাংসদদের সাথে দেখা করেন। টিডিপি, টিআরএস, আরজেডি, ডি এম কে ও  শিব সেনার সাংসদদের সাথে দেখা করেন তিনি। এনসিপি নেতা শরদ পাওয়ারের সাথে বৈঠক করেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বৈঠক শেষে সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

তার বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশ:

এই মুহূর্তে, কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার সবকিছু নিয়ন্ত্রণ করার চেষ্টা করছে। যেমন, আজ নির্বাচন কমিশন কর্নাটকে নির্বাচনের দিন ঘোষণা করার আগেই দল টুইট করে জানাচ্ছে। এটা কোনও রাজনৈতিক দলের জানার কথা না। এসব কি হচ্ছে? সমস্ত সাংবিধানিক সংস্থাকে ইচ্ছেমতো ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে… খুব খারাপ সঙ্কেত।

টিডিপি, শিবসেনা, টিআরএস – সকলেই বিজেপির সঙ্গে ছিল, এখন সবাই জোট ছেড়ে বেরিয়ে গেছে। কোন দলের সঙ্গে বিজেপির ভালো সম্পর্ক আছে? অখিলেশ ও মায়াবতীর জোট হলে, তাঁদের হারানো সহজ হবে না।

মিডিয়ার সাহায্যে ভুল তথ্য ছড়ানো হচ্ছে। ওরা ভুল তথ্য ছড়াতে টাকা ব্যবহার করছে। আমি তাদের একটুও বিশ্বাস করি না।

মায়াবতী একজন জাতীয় নেত্রী, আমি তাকে শ্রদ্ধা করি। তিনি ও অখিলেশ (যাদব) যদি লখনৌতে কোনও বৈঠক করেন ও আমায় আমন্ত্রণ করেন, আমি অবশ্যই যাব। এক কাপ চাও খেতে পারি।

অটলজির সময় আমিও এনডিএতে ছিলাম। তখনকার বিজেপি আর এখনকার বিজেপিতে আকাশ-পাতাল ফারাক। এখন কেন্দ্র সব কিছু নিয়ন্ত্রণ করছে, এমনকি মিডিয়াকেও। যদি সংবাদমাধ্যম এবং আইন ব্যবস্থা কেউ নিয়ন্ত্রন করে, গণতন্ত্র কি করে থাকবে? তোমরা ওদের (বিজেপি) কথা লেখো, সঙ্গে বিরোধীদের কথাও বল। এখনকার খবরের ৮০ শতাংশই ভুল তথ্য (ফেক নিউস)। যাদের টাকা আছে তারাই শুধু রাজনীতি করতে পারবে?

রাজনৈতিক দলগুলি মানুষের জন্য ত্যাগ করবে, সমাজের কাজ করবে। দেশের সবথেকে দামী পার্টি অফিস তৈরী করাতে কোন গরিমা নেই। রাজনীতি মানে ডেডিকেশন, ডিভোশান। এটি কোনও ব্যবসাও নয়, অর্থ উপার্জনের মাধ্যমও না। রাজনীতি একটি সামাজিক দায়বদ্ধতা। এটাই মূল তফাত একটি রাজনৈতিক দল ও অন্যদের মধ্যে।

আমি সাত বারের সাংসদ। আমি অনেক দপ্তরের মন্ত্রীও ছিলাম, স্ট্যান্ডিং কমিটিতেও ছিলাম। আমি সংসদের মুড বুঝি। আমি ২০১৯ এর ব্যাপারে বলতে পারি, সংসদের মুড বদলাচ্ছে। অনেক সাংসদরা ব্যাগ গোছাতে শুরু করেছেন।

নয়তো অনাস্থা প্রস্তাব আটকে থাকে কি করে? আলোচনা করতে দেওয়া হচ্ছে না। বিরোধীরা আলোচনা চায়। যদি এআইএডিএমকের দাবি থাকে, বাকিদেরও আছে। এটা ওদের বোঝা উচিত। জয়ললিতা জি বেঁচে থাকলে, উনিও এই আচরনের বিরোধিতা করতেন। দুঃখজনক যে তিনি আজ আর নেই। ওনার প্রতি আমার পূর্ণ শ্রদ্ধা আছে। আমরা অনাস্থা প্রস্তাব আনি নি। কিন্তু, অন্যদের কথা শোনা উচিত। এমনকি বিজেপিও ভয় পাচ্ছে যে তাদের সব সাংসদ সরকারের পক্ষে ভোট দেবে না। আমি তো এমনটাই শুনেছি।

ডিএমকে তামিলনাড়ুতে জিতবে, তেলেঙ্গানায় টিআরএস, অন্ধ্রতে টিডিপি। এসপি-বিএসপি জোট নিয়ে বলব, আনেক রাজনৈতিক দায়বদ্ধতা থাকে, কড়া সত্য। শিবসেনাও লড়ছে (বিজেপির বিরুদ্ধে)। বিজেপির মত আর কোনও সাম্প্রদায়িক দল নেই। হিন্দুত্বের নাম করে তারা বন্দুক নিয়ে মিছিল করছে। তারা হিন্দুত্বের বদনাম করছে।

আমরা একসঙ্গে কাজ করতে চাই। কেউ যেন বাদ না যায়। যে যেখানে শক্তিশালী, তাকে সেখানে লড়তে দেওয়া উচিত। উত্তর প্রদেশে অখিলেশ ও মায়াবতী শক্তিশালী, তামিলনাড়ুতে ডিএমকে। তাদের সাহায্য করা উচিত। অন্যান্য রাজ্যে স্থানীয় রাজনৈতিক দল শক্তিশালী হলে, তাদের সাহায্য করা উচিত। তেলেঙ্গানায় টিআরএস, বিহারে লালুজিকে আমরা সাহায্য করব, ওড়িশায় নবীন পট্টনায়েকের বিজেডিকে সাহায্য করব। যাতে লড়াইটা একের বিরুদ্ধে একের হয়।

এখন শরদ পাওয়ারের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করলাম, আমাদের সকলের এক বক্তব্য। কিছু দলের সঙ্গে আজ দেখা করেছি, কিছু দলের সঙ্গে কাল দেখা করব। শত্রুঘ্ন সিনহা, যশবন্ত সিনহা, অরুণ শৌরী আমার বাড়ি কাল আসবেন। সনিয়া গান্ধী অসুস্থ, আমি দীনেশ ত্রিবেদীকে পাঠিয়েছি ওনার খবর নিতে। আমি রোজ খবর নিই।

তথ্য চুরির ঘটনা খুবই উদ্বেগজনক, সকলের তথ্য চুরি হয়ে গেছে। এই যে আমি এখন আপনার সঙ্গে কথা বলছি, হয়ত এখনও স্টিং অপারেশন চলছে। রাজনীতি এখন স্টিং অপারেশনের ওপর দাঁড়িয়ে। টাকা দিয়ে যে কেউ তার বিরোধীদের বিরুদ্ধে যা ইচ্ছে করতে পারে। এখন এটাই হচ্ছে। অনেক নেতা ভয় পাচ্ছেন। আগে কোনোদিন আমি এরকম কিছু শুনিনি।

আমি ব্যাঙ্ক অ্যাকাউন্ট ও ফোনের সাথে আধার লিংক করার বিরোধিতা করে যাব। যদি সাথে কেউ না থাকে, তবুও, আমি একা লড়ে যাব। মানুষের এখন কোনও অধিকারই নেই – না গণতান্ত্রিক, না মৌলিক, না ব্যাক্তিগত। মানুষ যাবে কোথায়? একটি গণতান্ত্রিক দেশে এটা সম্ভব? সুপ্রিম কোর্টও অবজারভেশন দিয়েছিল যে, আধার মামলা সাংবিধানিক বেঞ্চ শুনবে। ততদিন আধার লিংক করাতে হবে না। তবুও ব্যাঙ্ক থেকে মেসেজ এসেই চলেছে। এটা সুপ্রিম কোর্টের অবমাননা।

শুধু কেমব্রিজ অ্যানালেটিকা নয়, টাকার সাহায্যে, বিভিন্ন এজেন্সির অপব্যবহার করছে কেন্দ্র। আমি আমলাদের সন্মান করি। আমি তাদের অনুরোধ করব কোনও একটি বিশেষ রাজনৈতিক দলকে সুবিধা পাইয়ে দিতে তারা যেন ক্ষমতার অপব্যবহার না করেন। আজ একটি দল ক্ষমতায় আছে, কাল হয়ত তারা ক্ষমতায় থাকবে না। আমলারা কেন ভুগবেন?

সংবাদমাধ্যমও… আমি সাংবাদিকদের দশ দিয়ি না, তারা তো কর্মচারী মাত্র। যারা সংবাদমাধ্যমের মালিক, তাদের বোঝা উচিত। তারা শুধু একতরফা ভাবে একটি দলকে সমর্থন করছে। গণতন্ত্রে দুতরফেরই বক্তব্য তুলে ধরা উচিত। গোপন অনেক ডিলের খবর ফাঁস করেছে কোবরাপোস্ট। সব দেখা হয়ে গেছে… এটাই কি আচ্ছে দিন? আজ যেকোনো প্রতিষ্ঠান হয় নিরপেক্ষ নয় বিজেপি-ঘেঁষা। এমনটা কেন হবে? এটা দেশের পক্ষে মঙ্গলকর নয়। পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের জন্য আমরা কি নিদর্শন রেখে যাচ্ছি?

সবার উচিত এগিয়ে এসে সত্যের পক্ষ সমর্থন করা। ওরা (কেন্দ্র) যদি ইডি, সিবিআই লাগিয়ে দেয়, আমরা ভয় পাই না।

সংবাদমাধ্যমের বোঝা উচিত যে দেশে তৃণমূল স্তর পর্যন্ত একটি বার্তা গেছে। নোটবন্দি, জিএসটি, ব্যাঙ্ক জালিয়াতির ফলে মানুষ ত্রস্ত। মিডিয়া মানুক না মানুক, দেশের মানুষ এই সরকারের ওপর আস্থা হারিয়েছে। মানুষের চোখে সরকারের বিশ্বাসযোগ্যতা তলানিতে ঠেকেছে। তবুও, তারা (কেন্দ্র) হুঁশিয়ারি দিচ্ছে।

আমি সব রাজ্যে গেছি। আমি তাদের বাধ্যবাধকতা বুঝি। তাই আমি সব রাজ্যকেই সম্মান করি।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today accused him of “removing crucial files” related to the notes ban. She also alleged that demonetisation was a “ploy to transform white money into black and black money into white”.

“They (Modi government) have turned the CBI into the Conspiracy Bureau of India and are using it for pursuing vendetta politics. The CBI has created a back office to come up with false evidence against our leaders to implicate them in chit fund cases,” she alleged.

Mamata Banerjee alleged that the CPI(M) had entered into a “political match-fixing” with the BJP as it was “under the Left rule that the chit funds had mushroomed in the state”.

“It was during the CPI(M) regime that Rose Valley and Saradha chit funds came into being. What were the SEBI and RBI doing then? Several top CPI(M) leaders were involved in the chit fund business but none of them was summoned. It only shows that the CPI(M) and the BJP have teamed up in Bengal,” she said.

 

 

সিপিএমের ছিল ‘হার্মাদ’, বিজেপির আছে ‘জল্লাদ’: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

নোট বাতিল সংক্রান্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সব ফাইল সরিয়ে ফেলা হয়েছে বলে এদিন অভিযোগ করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। তাঁর অভিযোগ নোট বাতিল সাদা টাকাকে কালো টাকায় রুপান্তরিত করার এক কৌশল।

তিনি বলেন, “ওরা সিবিআই কে কন্সপিরেসি ব্যুরো অফ ইন্ডিয়ায় পরিণত করে তা রাজনৈতিক প্রতিহিংসা চরিতার্থ করার কাজে লাগাচ্ছে।  একটা ব্যাক অফিস তৈরি করেছে সেখানে আমাদের নেতাদের বিরুদ্ধে মিথ্যে অভিযোগের প্রমাণ তৈরি করছে”।

সিপিএমএর সঙ্গে বিজেপির ম্যাচ ফিক্সিং হয়েছে। বাম আমলে রাজ্যে যখন চিট ফান্দ তৈরি হয়েছিল তখন ওরা কি করছিল?কেন পদক্ষেপ নেয়নি এই প্রশ্নও তুলেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “রোজ ভ্যালি, সারদা তৈরি হয়েছে সিপিএমের আমলে। সেই সময় আরবিআই, সেবি কেন চিট ফাণ্ড ব্যবসা করতে দিয়েছিল? অনেক সিপিএম নেতা এই চিট ফান্ডের সঙ্গে জড়িত। তাদের কেন তলব করা হচ্ছে না? এর থেকেই স্পষ্ট সিপিএম-বিজেপি বাংলায় একজোট হয়েছে”।

Coming down heavily on the Centre on the issue of demonetisation and political vendetta, Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today said everyone is suffering due to ‘Super Emergency’.

“Modi Babu bulldozed his decision. Institutions were not allowed to do their job. Whoever is speaking up is being silenced with fear-mongering. Agencies are hounding them,” she said.

“Within hours of announcement of demonetisation I raised my voice. Why did they introduce Rs 2000 notes after banning Rs 1000? People will ban Modi Sarkar soon,” the CM added.

She thundered, “They promised situation will normalise within 50 days. Nothing has improved. Are 50 days not over? Why are restrictions on withdrawal limit still in place?”

She said Trinamool cannot be scared by fear-mongering tactics. “They thought TMC is made of soft mud so even rats can dig it. We fight with tigers, we won’t get rattled by a push from rats,” the Chief Minister said.

She reiterated that CBI has become ‘Conspiracy Bureau of India’.

Highlighting the sufferings of people across all strata of society, she said the protests will continue and the next course of action will be decided after Gangasagar Mela.

Today was the third day of Trinamool’s nationwide protests against demonetisation and political vendetta by the Centre. A delegation of Trinamool MPs met the Honourable President today in Delhi.

From November 8, 2016, the day demonetisation was announced, Mamata Banerjee has been vocally protesting against the policy which has led to immense suffering of the people. She has been actively tweeting against the Narendra Modi government and has also addressed rallies in Delhi, Lucknow, Patna and Kolkata.

Trinamool MPs had been sitting on dharna for the last three days in Delhi. Similar dharnas were held in front of RBI office and CGO complex in Kolkata. Dharnas were held in Punjab, Manipur, Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha also.

Mamata Banerjee has given the slogan ‘Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao’ and demanded that a ‘National Government’ be formed to save the country from this mess.

 

নোট বাতিল ও রাজনৈতিক প্রতিহিংসার বিরুদ্ধে তৃণমূলের প্রতিবাদের আজ তৃতীয় দিন

কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের হঠকারী নোটবাতিলের সিদ্ধান্ত ও কেন্দ্রের প্রতিহিংসামূলক রাজনীতির বিরুদ্ধে তৃণমূলের দেশব্যাপী প্রতিবাদী আন্দোলনের আজ ছিল তৃতীয় দিন।

আজ দিল্লিতে দুপুর ২ টোয় তৃণমূল সাংসদদের এক প্রতিনিধি দল রাষ্ট্রপতির সঙ্গে দেখা করে স্মারকলিপি জমা দেন।

২০১৬-র ৮ নভেম্বর নোট বাতিলের সিদ্ধান্ত ঘোষণা হওয়ার পর থেকেই এর বিরুদ্ধে সরব হয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। নোট বাতিলের ফলে সাধারণ মানুষ চরম ভোগান্তির শিকার। টুইটারেও তিনি মোদীর সিদ্ধান্তের বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিবাদ জানান। একইসঙ্গে দিল্লি, লখনউ, কলকাতা ও পাটনার জনসভাতেও তিনি এর বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিবাদ জানান।

গত ৩ দিন ধরে তৃণমূল সাংসদরা নোটবাতিলের সিদ্ধান্ত ও প্রতিহিংসামূলক রাজনীতির বিরুদ্ধে দিল্লীর সাউথ অ্যাভিনিউতে ধর্ণায় বসছেন। ধর্ণা হয় কলকাতার সিজিও কমপ্লেক্স ও রিজার্ভ ব্যাংকের সামনেও। পাঞ্জাব, বিহারের কিষাণগঞ্জ, মনিপুর, ত্রিপুরা, আসাম ও ঝাড়খণ্ডেও চলেছে প্রতিবাদ।

দেশকে রক্ষার স্বার্থে ইতিমধ্যেই জাতীয় সরকার গঠনের দাবি করেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। ‘মোদী হাঠাও, দেশ বাঁচাও’ স্লোগানও দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

Today was the second day of Trinamool’s countrywide protests against demonetisation and political vendetta.

Trinamool MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha held a sit-in demonstration at South Avenue for the second day. The dharna began with 2 minutes silence for the 120 people who lost their lives due to demonetisation. Several MPs – Saugata Roy, Kalyan Banerjee, Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Sisir Adhikari, Sultan Ahmed – made short speeches highlighting the sufferings of people every hour.

A dharna was organised just three kilometres away from the office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Bhubaneswar. Senior Trinamool Congress leaders including Secretary General of the party Partha Chatterjee, All India General Secretary, Subrata Bakshi, Chandrima Bhattacharya and Manish Gupta  attended the dharna.

Dharnas were also organised in front of CGO complex and RBI headquarters in Kolkata. They will continue even today.

Protests are being organised in Punjab, Kishanganj (Bihar), Manipur, Tripura, Assam, and Jharkhand against the note ban and the suffering that is being caused to the people.

 

নোট বাতিলের বিরুদ্ধে তৃণমূলের প্রতিবাদের আজ দ্বিতীয় দিন

কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের জনবিরোধী নোটবাতিলের সিদ্ধান্ত ও তার ফলে সাধারণ মানুষের ভোগান্তির বিরুদ্ধে  এবং কেন্দ্রের প্রতিহিংসামূলক রাজনীতির বিরুদ্ধে তৃণমূলের দেশব্যাপী প্রতিবাদী আন্দোলনের আজ  দ্বিতীয় দিন।

দিল্লির সাউথ এভিনিউতে তৃণমূলের লোকসভা ও রাজ্যসভার সাংসদরা ধর্ণা দেন। সকাল ১১টায় নোট বাতিলের ফলে যারা প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন তাদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়ে শুরু হয় ধর্ণা। এরপর প্রত্যেক ঘন্টায় বর্ষীয়ান সাংসদরা বক্তব্য রাখেন। বক্তব্য রাখেন সৌগত রায়, কল্যাণ ব্যানার্জি, কাকলি ঘোষ দস্তিদার, সুখেন্দু শেখর রায়, শিশির অধিকারী, সুলতান আহমেদ।

ওড়িশার ভুবনেশ্বরের সিবিআই অফিসের মাত্র তিন কিঃ মিঃ দুরে আজ ধর্ণা দেওয়া হয়। এই কর্মসূচিতে অংশ নেন তৃণমূলের মহাসচিব পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায়, সর্বভারতীয় সাধারন সম্পাদক সুব্রত বক্সী, চন্দ্রিমা ভট্টাচার্য, মনীশ গুপ্ত প্রমুখ।

ধর্ণা হয় কলকাতার সিজিও কমপ্লেক্স ও রিজার্ভ ব্যাংকের সামনেও। পাঞ্জাব, বিহারের কিষাণগঞ্জ, মনিপুর, ত্রিপুরা, আসাম ও ঝাড়খণ্ডেও চলবে প্রতিবাদ।

In a statement on Twitter, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the Trinamool Congress is organising nationwide protests against Narendra Modi’s “shameless flop-show” (implying the draconian policy of demonetisation).

She announced the staging of dharnas over the next three days, that is, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, in Bengal, Odisha (Bhubaneswar), Punjab, Bihar (Kishanganj), Manipur, Tripura, Assam, Jharkhand and Delhi.

Mamata Banerjee, through her statement, also demanded that “restrictions should be removed” on the withdrawal of cash from banks and ATMs because of the “hardships being faced by millions due to demonetisation”.

Today, about 35 Trinamool MPs have begun a peaceful protest, on South Avenue in New Delhi, against demonetisation and the resultant suffering caused to millions. It would continue till 6 pm.

তিনি জানান, আজ থেকে আগামী বুধবার পর্যন্ত তিনদিন ব্যাপী বাংলা, ওড়িশা (ভুবনেশ্বর), পাঞ্জাব, বিহার (কিষাণগঞ্জ), মনিপুর, ত্রিপুরা, আসাম, ঝাড়খণ্ড ও দিল্লীতে ধর্ণা চলবে।

এদিন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী তার বক্তব্যে ব্যাঙ্ক ও এটিএম-এর মাধ্যমে টাকার লেনদেনের ক্ষেত্রে “বিধিনিষেধ বা ঊর্ধ্বসীমা” তুলে নেওয়ারও দাবি জানান।

এই প্রতিবাদে আজ দিল্লীর সাউথ অ্যাভিনিউতে একটি শান্তিপূর্ণ বিক্ষোভ দেখাচ্ছেন তৃণমূলের সাংসদরা। সন্ধ্যা ৬ টা পর্যন্ত চলবে এই ধর্ণা।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a press conference in New Delhi today after the all-party meet to decide on the future steps to continue the constructive opposition to demonetisation.

Mamata Banerjee had already announced a State-wide ‘Modi Hatao Desh Bachao’ campaign last week, while addressing the media in Kolkata. The eight-day campaign will begin from January 1, coinciding with the foundation day of the Trinamool Congress, and will continue for a week.

At the press conference, Mamata Banerjee said that the Opposition parties are together on the issue of opposing the Central Government on demonetisation.

Regarding the future course of action, she said, “We will make a common minimum agenda on corruption and demonetisation and work together in the future”.

Commenting on the devastating effect that demonetisation has had on the country, she said, “The economy is totally shattered. From exports to MSME, from farmers to labourers to traders, everyone is crying. Tea garden and jute workers are not getting wages. Workers under the 100 Days’ Work Scheme are not getting wages from banks”.

Then, “the tribal people in remote areas, who are the poorest of the poor, are suffering” because transactions in cash have come down drastically.

She said that “banks and ATMs are cashless” yet “the Centre is spending crores on advertisements”.

She gave a suitable retort to Narendra Modi’s war cry of ‘achhe din’ when she said, “Modi ji said he will bring ‘achhe din’ – is this (referring to demonetisation) the example of ‘achhe din’?”

In fact, referring to the Modi Government’s promise of bringing back black money stashed in foreign countries’ banks, she said, “Let them bring back black money from foreign accounts, we will support them”. However, that is not happening.

Mamata Banerjee said that the prolonged pain of demonetisation has hurt people so much that they “are losing faith on banks”. In fact, she accused the Centre of “looting people to pay the NPAs (non-performing assets) of banks”, NPAs which have been mounting day by day over the last few years.

She then came down hard on the “false promises” of the Prime Minister to ease monetary restrictions after 50 days: “Will restrictions be eased after 50 days? Why then did the Prime Minister make false promises to the nation?”

Taking a dig at Narendra Modi, she said, “From a chaiwala the PM has become a fakir now”, fakir indeed in ideas, so much so that demonetisation has “moved the country back by 20 years”.

Referring to demonetisation as a “big scam”, she said that the country, however, “will see through it in the future”. She even hinted at a “hidden agenda” behind the scheme.

Stressing on the fact that an economy can never be totally cashless, a term the Central Government has been using left, right and centre over the last 47 days since demonetisation was announced, the Chief Minister of Bengal said, “Even the America economy is 40% dependent on cash”.

In fact, “in the name of cashless, the Narendra Modi Government has become baseless”, losing its locus standi as the conscience keeper of the nation, as a democratically-elected Central Government must be. As she rightly said, “The Government must lead the people, not instil fear in them”.

The Government has “unleashed its agencies on Opposition parties”. By thus trying to destroy State Governments led by Opposition parties, the Government is “destroying the federal structure of the country”, a system which is constitutionally mandated.

Mamata Banerjee also hit out on the selective help that the Centre has been providing to the States to cope with demonetisation, referring, as an example, to BJP-ruled Assam getting more financial benefits than many other equally or more deserving States, which are ruled by parties opposed to the BJP.

She referred to the currently desperate financial state of the country as “super-emergency”.

She also criticised the Central Government for neither laying a statement in Parliament during the recently-concluded Winter Session on demonetisation nor allowing the Opposition to discuss the issue, grievous offence given that Parliament is the “temple of democracy”.

She demanded accountability from the Government regarding demonetisation. She said, “We want a solution. A hundred and seven people have already died due to the crisis situation brought about by demonetisation. There will be starvation deaths next. Who is responsible?”

Continuing in the vein of accountability, she warned, “If you do not fulfil your promises then people will vote you out”.

She ended her comments by laying stress on the fact that the Opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress, will “continue the movement against demonetisation as long as possible”; they will not give up.

“Common people”, said Mamata Banerjee, “are not black marketeers. We will keep raising their issues”.

তিনি বলেন, ভবিষ্যতে দুর্নীতি ও নোট বাতিলের প্রতিবাদে বিরোধী দলগুলি একটি যৌথ কর্মসূচি তৈরি করবে কারন নোটবাতিলের ফলে দেশের অর্থনীতি ধ্বংস হয়ে গেছে। শ্রমিক, কৃষক ব্যবসায়ী সহ সকল মানুষ চরম সংকটে।

এই অর্থনৈতিক অরাজকতার প্রসঙ্গে তিনি বলেন, “মোদী’জি বলেছিলেন ‘আচ্ছে দিন’ আনবেন। এই কি ‘আচ্ছে দিন’ এর নমুনা? মানুষ ব্যাঙ্কের ওপর থেকে আস্থা হারাচ্ছে। কেন্দ্র মানুষের টাকা লুঠ করে ব্যাংকের NPA মেটাতে চাইছে। ইতিমধ্যেই এই বিগত ৪৭ দিনে ২০ বছর পিছিয়ে গেছে দেশের অর্থনীতি। চা বাগানের শ্রমিকরা মজুরি পাচ্ছে না।”

তিনি এও বলেন, নোট বাতিল একটি বড় দুর্নীতি। এর পেছনে গোপন কর্মসূচি কি? কেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী দেশবাসীকে জানাচ্ছেন না এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার পেছনে আসল উদ্দেশ্য কি ছিল?

প্রধানমন্ত্রীর এই তুঘলকি নীতি কে কটাক্ষ করে তিনি বলেন, ক্যাশলেসের নামে মোদী এখন বেসলেস, ওনার নীতি ও দল সবই এখন ভিত্তিহীন হয়ে পড়েছে।

মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বলেন, যে সকল রাজনৈতিক দল এই তুঘলকি সিদ্ধান্তের প্রতিবাদ করছে, কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার তাদের পেছনেই এজেন্সি লাগিয়ে দিচ্ছে। কেন্দ্র যুক্তরাষ্ট্রীয় পরিকাঠামোকে ধ্বংস করছে। সারা দেশে সুপার জরুরি অবস্থা চলছে।

তিনি আরও বলেন, সাধারণ মানুষ কালো বাজারি করে না। তাদের কোনও কালো টাকা নেই, কিন্তু, এই নোটবাতিলের ফলে তাদের চরম দুর্গতি ভোগ করতে হচ্ছে।

Madam, our target and our aim is to see that the House runs smoothly. We want the House to run, so the ruling party has a role to play. My submission to the ruling party and also to the Government is that we must try to find a way out to ensure that the House runs smoothly and a discussion takes place on the floor. The Prime Minister must reply so that a healthy debate takes place.

Madam, today in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee has now started a rally with more than 5 lakh people. Madam, what is the Parliament for if we don’t discuss people’s sufferings on the floor of the House? If people are not aware what the Government is thinking, and if the Prime Minister is not addressing the House, then what will they feel about the Parliament?

Madam, the sufferings of the common people have skyrocketed; there is nobody to give them relief. The government must do something so that they can get relief. This is something for which Mamata Banerjee has been fighting since the beginning, for the poor people. We support any move to recover black money. Let black money be recovered but in a systematic way.

The whole situation has become very serious due the hasty decision. The government should have held discussions. Let Rs 500 notes be allowed to be used for a few months. This is our party’s decision, we are trying to stick to it. Let the Adjournment Motion be adopted and let the discussion start.

The second week of the 2016 Winter Session of Parliament was quite eventful. On November 24, Derek O’Brien in the Rajya Sabha gave a scathing reply to the Centre’s decision on demonetisation, outlining the hardships that the people of the country have been facing for the last 15 days (since demonetisation).

A day earlier, Sudip Bandyopadhyay in the Lok Sabha, as the voice of the united Opposition, had demanded a discussion on the issue of demonetisation under Rule 56, which entails voting after the debate.

On November 23, the opposition parties represented in Parliament, including Trinamool Congress, had staged a joint protest against the Government’s decision on demonetisation at the statue of Gandhi Ji inside the Parliament complex.

On November 25, Derek O’Brien strongly criticised the attitude of the Centre towards those who oppose its views and policies: “I said this in the House yesterday. If we oppose the Government’s policy it does not mean we are in favour of corruption”. He also asked for the Prime Minister to come to the Rajya Sabha and apologise for his comments earlier in the morning. He said, “Does the Prime Minister think he alone is a saint and we are all devils? The Prime Minister must come to the House and apologise”.

On the same day, Sudip Bandyopadhyay also came down severely on the Prime Minister’s insult to those opposing the draconian decision of demonetisation through his comments earlier that day. As he said, “On a day when we are trying to find a solution as to how the House can function, the Prime Minister has made comments that have hurt the Opposition. We demand that the Prime Minister withdraws his comments and apologises for the comments he has made”.

Thus, the second week of the Winter Session was one in which the Opposition parties came together in a major way to oppose a policy of the Centre which has brought untold hardships on the common people of the country.

দ্বিতীয় সপ্তাহ : নোট বাতিলের সিদ্ধান্তের প্রতিবাদে সকল বিরোধী দলকে নেতৃত্ব দিল তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস

নানারকম ঘটনার মধ্যে দিয়ে কাটল পার্লামেন্টের শীতকালীন অধিবেশনের দ্বিতীয় সপ্তাহ। ২৪শে নভেম্বর রাজ্য সভায় ডেরেক ও ব্রায়েন উপযুক্ত জবাব দেন কেন্দ্রের এই দিশাহীন নোট বাতিলের তুঘলকি সিদ্ধান্তের ও তা কার্যকর করে বিগত ১৫ দিনের দেশের মানুষের কি পরিমান ভোগান্তি বাড়ানো হয়েছে, তার জবাব হিসেবে।

তার আগের দিন সুদীপ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় লোকসভায় সকল বিরোধী দলের পক্ষ থেকে ৫৬ নম্বর নিয়ম মেনে নোট বাতিলের ওপর আলোচনা ও তার পর ভোটাভুটির দাবি তোলেন।
২৩শে নভেম্বর তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস সহ বিরোধী দলগুলি সংসদের সামনে গান্ধী মূর্তির তলায় একসঙ্গে বিক্ষোভ প্রদর্শন করেন কেন্দ্রের নোট বাতিলের তুঘলকি নীতির প্রতিবাদে।

যে সকল দল সরকার ও তার এই কার্যকলাপের বিরোধিতা করছে, তাদের প্রতি সরকারের আচরণের তীব্র সমালোচনা করেন ডেরেক ও ব্রায়েন ২৫শে নভেম্বর, তিনি বলেন, “আমি গতকাল কক্ষে বলেছি, আমরা যদি সরকারের নীতির সমালোচনা করি, তার মানে এই না যে আমরা কালো টাকার পক্ষে”, তিনি প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে রাজ্যসভায় আসার ও সেদিন সকালে বিরোধীদের ব্যাপারে এরকম কটূক্তি করার জন্য ক্ষমা চাওয়ার দাবি জানান। তিনি বলেন, “প্রধানমন্ত্রী কি ভাবেন যে সব বিরোধীরা চোর আর উনি একা সাধুপুরুষ? প্রধানমন্ত্রী এই সভায় আসুন ও বিরোধীদের কাছে ক্ষমা চান।”

ওই দিনই তার কিছুক্ষন আগে সুদীপ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় লোকসভায় তীব্র প্রতিবাদ জানান প্রধান মন্ত্রীর বিরোধীদের ব্যাপারে কটূক্তির বিরোধিতা করে। তিনি বলেন , “যে সময় আমরা একটি উপায় খুঁজছি কি করে সভা চালানো যায়, সেসময় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর এরকম একটি উক্তি বিরোধী দলগুলিকে খুব বেদনা দিয়েছে। আমরা দাবি জানাই প্রধানমন্ত্রী তাঁর বক্তব্য ফিরিয়ে নিন ও বিরোধীদের থেকে ক্ষমা চান।”

সব মিলিয়ে পার্লামেন্টের শীতকালীন অধিবেশনের দ্বিতীয় সপ্তাহে সকল বিরোধী দল একজোট হয়ে কেন্দ্রের এই নোট বাতিলের তুঘলকি নীতি ও তার ফলে অগণিত দেশবাসীর অসীম কষ্টের বিরুদ্ধে সোচ্চার হন।

Madam, first of all you should thank the Indian National Congress because they have withdrawn their placards, which you requested for in your chamber. We should not always be criticised. We should also extend thanks to the main opposition party because they acceded to your request in the meeting.

Secondly, Madam, our party too has been protesting against black money; if you remember, we entered the House wearing black shawls demanding the recovering of black money from abroad. It stalled the House and you directed that the shawls be withdrawn and accordingly we did so.

Madam, when the Prime Minister came here today, I wanted to make a request to him that you are not only the Prime Minister of a particular party, you are also the leader of the House. Madam, we have approached you with the request to let the discussion take place under Adjournment Motion; this is the demand of most of the MPs from the Opposition.

Even today, Madam, near about 300 MPs from both the Houses sat for a sit-in demonstration in front of Gandhi ji’s statue. So what is the harm in starting the discussion? We will give our observation; we can start the discussion just now. With a brute majority, they will win it if it comes to voting; if it doesn’t come to voting, it is another thing.

But I will fervently request you to sit in discussion with the Government and to see that the debate starts from tomorrow under Adjournment Motion under Rule 56.
