The State Health Department is planning to introduce boat-borne clinics to provide basic healthcare facilities for the residents of remote islands in the Sundarbans.

These mobile health clinics are going to be equipped with modern facilities which, being affordable and available, will be a big boon for the inhabitants of these inaccessible islands. Many of the residents are unable to come to a health centre for check-ups, which often leads to complex health conditions, requiring hospitalisation.

The Bengal Government had earlier started health camps in boats to cover these remote areas. Eye camps are performed on boats which travel along various islands of the Sundarbans, in North and South 24 Parganas districts. These camps will be held aboard these boats, where specialised treatment would also be available.

The proposed floating health clinics will be equipped with modern gadgets to perform various diagnostic tests and check-ups. They will also provide immunisation, antenatal care to pregnant women and basic healthcare.

সুন্দরবনের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলের মানুষদের জলযানের মাধ্যমে স্বাস্থ্য পরিষেবা দিতে পরিকল্পনা করেছেন রাজ্য স্বাস্থ্য দপ্তর।

এই ভাসমান চিকিৎসাকেন্দ্রগুলিতে থাকবে যাবতীয় আধুনিক চিকিৎসার সমস্ত সরঞ্জাম। এই মোবাইল বোট ক্লিনিকগুলি সুন্দরবনের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলের মানুষের কাছে তাঁদের সাধ্যের মধ্যে পৌঁছে দেবে চিকিৎসা পরিষেবা। ভৌগলিক অবস্থানের কারনে অনেক সময়ে সুন্দরবনের অনেক বাসিন্দা স্বাস্থ্য পরীক্ষার জন্য স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্রে পৌঁছতে পারেন না, যা তাঁদের স্বাস্থ্যের অবনতির কারন হয়ে দাঁড়ায়।

প্রসঙ্গত, রাজ্য সরকার এর আগেই এইসব প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলের কথা ভেবে ভাসমান হেলথ ক্যাম্প চালু করেছিল। উত্তর ও দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগণায় বিস্তৃত সুন্দরবনের বিভিন্ন দ্বীপে চক্ষু পরীক্ষার ক্যাম্প চালানো হয় বোটের মাধ্যমে। এখন সরকার চায় শুধু চক্ষু পরীক্ষায় সীমাবদ্ধ না থেকে বোটের মাধ্যমে অন্যান্য রোগেরও উন্নত চিকিৎসা পৌঁছে দেওয়ার।

এই মোবাইল বোট ক্লিনিকের মাধ্যমে টীকাকরণ ও গর্ভবতী মহিলাদের গর্ভকালীন যত্নও নেওয়া হবে।
