Bangla leads among States in child nutrition

When it comes to providing nutrition for children, Bangla is ahead of many other States, as proven by data. This was said recently by a senior Indian official of the United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP).

Be it anaemia or brain development, other big States like Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are much worse off.

When the average percentage of children born with low birth weight in the entire country is 21.4, in Bangla it is 20.8. Whereas in Gujarat, the percentage of women suffering from anaemia is 60.1, the same is 57 per cent in Bangla. Then, the average percentage of children suffering from stunting in India is 39.3 whereas it is 32 in Bangla.
