The Mamata Banerjee-led Bengal Government is undertaking yet another initiative to connect Sagar Island with the mainland. A 3-km long bridge over Muriganga river will be constructed soon. The DPR (detailed project report) is currently being prepared, and construction work will begin later this year.

The bridge will be built by the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation. The Public Works Department of the State will extend all help and cooperation.

Two approach roads (2-km long each) will be constructed on either side of the bridge. The entire length of the bridge – from Lot Number 8 till Kochuberia – will be around 5 km. The total cost of the project will be Rs 3,000 crore.

Normally, during high tide, it takes 5-6 hours to reach Sagar Island from Babu Ghat near Dharmatala. The journey takes much longer during low tide, as ferries or barges cannot navigate during that time. The bridge will bring down journey time to 3 hours.

 

মুড়িগঙ্গার ওপর সেতু তৈরীর কাজ শুরু এবছরেই

সাগরদ্বীপকে মূল ভূখণ্ডের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করতে মুড়িগঙ্গার ওপর ৩ কিঃমিঃ সেতু তৈরীর কাজের ডিপিআর তৈরীর কাজ শুরু হল। সেতু তৈরীর কাজ শুরু হবে এবছরেই। ন্যাশানাল হাইওয়ে ইনফ্রাস্ট্রাকচার ডেভেলপমেন্ট কর্পোরেশন লিমিটেড এই নির্মাণের দায়িত্বে আছে। এই সংস্থাকে সবরকম সাহায্য করবে পূর্তদপ্তর।

এই সেতুর দুই মুখে অ্যাপ্রোচ রোড তৈরী হবে প্রায় ২ কিঃমিঃ। সব মিলিয়ে লট নাম্বার ৮ থেকে কচুবেড়িয়া পর্যন্ত সেতুর দৈর্ঘ্য হবে ৫ কিঃমিঃ। প্রকল্পে মোট খরচ হবে ৩০০০ কোটি টাকা। জোয়ারের সময় ধর্মতলা থেকে সাগর পৌঁছতে লাগে ৫/৬ ঘণ্টা, ভাঁটার সময় কোনও সময়ের ঠিক থাকে না। কারন ভাঁটার সময় বার্জ বা ফেরি কিছুই চলাচল করতে পারে না। এই সেতু তৈরী হলে সড়কপথে ধর্মতলা থেকে সাগর পৌঁছতে লাগবে ৩ ঘণ্টা।

To further improve communication in Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has approved the allocation of Rs 1,779 crore for a 21 km multi-laned road from Mogra in Hooghly district to Kalyani in Nadia district, which includes a bridge over the Hooghly. The detailed project reports (DPR) for the project has been prepared.

The road will be built from Mogra to Saptagram and from there to the Hooghly, where it will join the bridge, whose other end will be connected to the road from Kalyani to Barjaguli.

The road will be four-laned while the bridge will be six-laned, with a width of 700 metres. The Chief Minister has instructed that the bridge should have an attractive design. It will be a cable-stayed bridge, and is being designed by a company from Denmark.

Besides the places through which the road will pass, indirectly, people from the districts of Purba Bardhaman and North 24 Parganas will also be benefitted.

 

২১ কিঃমিঃ নতুন রাস্তায় জুরছে মগরা থেকে কল্যাণী, হচ্ছে নয়া সেতু

রাজ্যের পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নের জন্য আরও একটি উল্লেখযোগ্য পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করল মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সরকার। হুগলী জেলার সঙ্গে উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা ও নদীয়ার যোগাযোগ বাড়াতে চার লেনের একটি রাস্তা ও গঙ্গার ওপরে ছয় লেনের একটি সেতু তৈরীর পরিকল্পনা করা হয়েছে। খরচ ধরা হয়েছে ১৭৭৯ কোটি টাকা। পুরো টাকাই দেবে রাজ্য সরকার। ডিপিআর-ও তৈরী হয়ে গেছে। ডাকা হয়েছে গ্লোবাল টেন্ডার।

হুগলীর মগরা থেকে সপ্তগ্রাম হয়ে রাস্তাটি সোজা চলে যাবে গঙ্গা পর্যন্ত। সেখানেই গড়ে উঠবে সেতু। উল্টোদিকে কল্যাণী। রাস্তাটি কল্যাণী ছুয়ে ৩৪ নং জাতীয় সড়কের বরজাগুলি পর্যন্ত যাবে। মোট দৈর্ঘ্য ২১ কিঃমিঃ।

আধুনিক প্রযুক্তিতে তৈরী সেতুটির দৈর্ঘ্য হবে ৭০০ মিটার। সেতুটিকে আকর্ষণীয় করার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। নকশা করছে ডেনমার্কের একটি সংস্থা। প্রযুক্তির ভাষায় বলা হয় কেবল স্ট্রেইড ব্রিজ।

কল্যাণীতে ছয় কিঃমিঃ দৈর্ঘ্যের একটি এলিভেটেড করিডর তৈরী হবে। যা কাপা থেকে বরজাগুলিতে জাতীয় সড়কে গিয়ে মিলবে।

এই রাস্তা ও সেতু তৈরী হয়ে গেলে যাতায়াতের ক্ষেত্রে নতুন দিগন্ত খুলে যাবে। এর ফলে প্রত্যক্ষ ভাবে উপকৃত হবেন বর্ধমান, হুগলী, নদীয়া ও উত্তর ২৪ পরগণার মানুষ।

The Bengal Government will come up with another bridge on the river Bhagirathi. This one will connect Kalna and Shantipur, and thus, the districts of Purba Bardhaman and Nadia. The State Public Works Department (PWD) will take up the construction.

The length of the bridge, including the approach area, will be 2 km. A preliminary budget of Rs 700 crore has been allocated for the bridge, as well as a railway over-bridge that will come up adjacent to the proposed bridge.

The bridge will serve as a fast link between not only between Kalna and Shantipur, but also Katwa in Purba Bardhaman and Tribeni in Hooghly district.

The bridge is also expected to be a major boost to heritage tourism as Nadia district is a destination for many pilgrims. The handloom industry will also witness a surge as better connectivity will ensure more people from other parts of the state coming to places like Dhatrigram, Samudragarh, Shantipur and others handloom hubs.

ভাগীরথীর ওপর নতুন সেতু

পূর্ব বর্ধমান ও নদীয়া জেলা সংযোগ করতে ভাগীরথীর ওপরে নতুন সেতু নির্মাণ করবে রাজ্য সরকার। কালনা ও শান্তিপুরকে জুড়বে এই সেতু।

পূর্ত দপ্তর এই নির্মাণ কাজ সম্পন্ন করবে।অ্যাপ্রোচ এরিয়া সহ পুরো সেতুটির দৈর্ঘ্য হবে ২ কিঃ মিঃ। প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে এই সেতুর জন্য ৭০০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে। এর পাশাপাশি একটি রেলওয়ে ওভার ব্রিজও তৈরী করা হবে।

শুধু যে কালনা ও শান্তিপুরের মধ্যে যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থায় গতি আসবে এই সেতুর মাধ্যমে, তাই নয়, পূর্ব বর্ধমানের কাটোয়া ও হুগলী জেলার ত্রিবেণীর যোগাযোগেও গতি আনবে এই সেতু।নতুন সেতু নির্মাণের ফলে নদীয়া জেলাগামী পর্যটকরা যেমন উপকৃত হবেন, তেমনই জেলার তাঁতশিল্পীদেরও যাতায়াতের অনেকটাই সুবিধে হবে।
