Like every year, this year too, the State Fisheries Development Corporation (SFDC) will be serving special dishes at its five restaurants in Kolkata during Durga Puja.

The five are located at Nalban Food Park, Nabanna, Eco Park, Bidhan Sishu Udyan in Ultadanga and in front of Nicco Park. The food will be served in bell metal (kansa) or terracotta plates.

This year, the highlight will be fish items associated with the famous traditional pujas of zamindars of Kolkata and temple pujas of other places in Bangla.

The organisation is finalising the menu in consultation with the descendents of Sovabazar Rajbari, Sabarna Roy Choudhury Rajbari and other famous rajbaris of Kolkata. With respect to the temple pujas, one will be able to relish the magur macher tok of Sarbamangala Temple in Bardhaman and shol pora of Kanakdurga Shrine at Chilkagarh in Jhargram, among others.

The bhogs served at some of the traditional pujas of Kolkata will also be an integral part of the menu.

People will be able to try out boroli, the famous delicious fish from the streams of north Bengal, now being cultivated by the SFDC in three large waterbodies in Kolkata and Memari, and groupers and Indian pompano, also being cultivated by it in the last few months.

There will be a discount of 7 per cent in the thali items and on ordering over the online delivery app, Smart Fish (during the Puja days).

The SFDC will also set up stalls at the premises of 23 famous Durga Pujas in Kolkata, including Singhi Park, Hazra Park, Kalighat Milan Sangha and Hindustan Park in south Kolkata, and Jagat Mukherjee Park, Sovabazar, Tala Sarbajanin and Nalin Sarkar Street in north Kolkata.

A major fishery project is coming up at Tapandighi in Dakshin Dinajpur district, at an investment of Rs 54 crore. It would cover an area of 108.52 acres, 85 acres of which would comprise of water bodies. The project is being undertaken by the Bengal Government’s Fisheries Department.

The project would be a fish hub, and would thus enable several activities under one roof – cultivating fish, selling to wholesalers, long-term storage in modern cold storages, processing and packaging of fish, making arrangements for transporting to various markets, etc. Fish sellers from other places would be able to sell their catch to wholesalers too, for which a building called Action House would be constructed.

The State Fisheries Development Corporation, which is under the Fisheries Department, is the agency overseeing the hands-on work. Being a project at such a large scale, it is expected to take three years for completion.

Besides the fishery project, there would also be an eco-park and a biodiversity park. These would attract tourists and would form a source of income for the hub. Infrastructure would be constructed for the boarding of 25 to 30 tourists at one go.

This project would establish the primacy of fish cultivators and sellers of Bengal in the fish trade in northern Bengal and north-eastern India. It would also ensure the employment of about 1,000 people.

তপনদিঘিতে ৫৪ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে বড় মৎস্য প্রকল্প গড়ছে রাজ্য

দক্ষিণ দিনাজপুরের তপনদিঘিতে প্রায় ৫৪ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে এবার বড়সড় মৎস্য প্রকল্প গড়তে চলেছে রাজ্য সরকার। জেলা পরিষদ এবং মৎস্য দপ্তর (রাজ্য মৎস্য উন্নয়ন নিগম) যৌথভাবে এই প্রকল্প রূপায়িত করতে চলেছে।

মৎস্য দপ্তরের পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, মাছ উৎপাদন, নিলাম করা, মজুত করা, তা বিক্রির জন্য বিভিন্ন বাজারে পৌঁছে দেওয়া ইত্যাদিকে একই ছাতার তলায় আনতে তপনদিঘিতে এই প্রকল্প হাতে নেওয়া হয়েছে। রাজ্যে আর কোথাও এমন প্রকল্প নেই।

মৎস্য দপ্তর সূত্রের দাবি, তপনদিঘিতে একটি ‘ফিশ-হাব’ তৈরীর পরিকল্পনা পুরোপুরি মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের মস্তিষ্কপ্রসূত। কীভাবে তা বাস্তবায়িত করা যায়, সেবিষয়ে পরিকল্পনা রূপায়ণের দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছিল মৎস্য দপ্তরকে। সেই মতো কাজ করছে রাজ্য মৎস্য উন্নয়ন নিগম (এসএফডিসি)। ইতিমধ্যেই তারা ডিপিআর তৈরী করে ফেলেছে।

দপ্তরের পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, মোট ১০৮.৫২ একর জায়গা জুড়ে এই প্রকল্পটি তৈরি করা হচ্ছে। যার মধ্যে ৮৫ একর জলাশয়। সেখানে মাছ চাষ ছাড়াও দিঘির একপাশে কলকাতার আদলে একটি ইকো পার্ক ও জীব-বৈচিত্র্য পার্ক তৈরী করা হবে। সেইসঙ্গে যেহেতু এই এলাকায় প্রচুর পাখি আসে, তাই তাদের কথা মাথায় রেখে কয়েকটি বার্ড ওয়াচ টাওয়ারও তৈরি করা হচ্ছে।

পাশাপাশি একটি প্রকৃতি পর্যবেক্ষণ কেন্দ্র ও আলোচনা কেন্দ্রও তৈরি করা হবে। এছাড়াও ফুড কোর্ট এমনকী পর্যটকদের থাকার জন্য পরিকাঠামোও এখানে তৈরি করা হচ্ছে। দপ্তরের পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, ফিশ-হাবের পাশাপাশি পর্যটক টানতে সৌন্দর্যায়নের কথা মাথায় রেখেই একাংশে কৃত্রিমভাবে প্রকৃতিতে ফুটিয়ে তোলা হবে। সেখানে একলপ্তে ২৫- ৩০ জন পর্যটক যাতে থাকতে পারেন, সেই পরিকাঠামো তৈরি করা হচ্ছে।

এই প্রসঙ্গে রাজ্যের মৎস্যমন্ত্রী বলেছেন, শুধু বাজার ধরাই নয়, ছোট-বড় মাছ চাষের মাধ্যমে মৎস্যজীবীদের অর্থনৈতিকভাবে সমৃদ্ধ করাই সরকারের লক্ষ্য। একারণে সেখানে মৎস্যজীবীদের আলাদা প্রশিক্ষণ ও কর্মশালা করারও ব্যবস্থা করা হবে।
