Flipkart, the e-commerce major, has decided to set up an integrated logistics hub on 80 acres in Bengal to facilitate faster delivery to buyers in the eastern and north-eastern parts of the country.
Flipkart plans to develop 40 lakh square feet in phases, and the investment will be around Rs 650 crore. The hub will result in the creation of jobs for 5,000 people.
The logistics hub will house several Flipkart fulfilment centres and sorting centres and will act as the node of the company’s east India operations. The vice-president of the company said the idea is to move closer to demand centres.
The logistics hub would improve supply-chain efficiency and reduce costs by deploying mechanised warehousing and leveraging technology for intelligent transport systems.
With the goods and services tax (GST) doing away with multiple state level taxes, e-commerce firms are increasingly exploring ways to manage the supply chain with fewer but larger warehouses. The Bengal Government has identified the potential of the sector and has prepared a policy to support the sector, announced at the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) in January.
৬৫০ কোটির বিনিয়োগে রাজ্যে এবার লজিস্টিক হাব, নয়া শিল্পে সরাসরি ৫০০০ কর্মসংস্থান
রাজ্যে বাণিজ্য সম্মেলন থেকেই শিল্প সম্ভাবনার দুয়ার খুলে গিয়েছিল। এবার সেই সম্ভাবনার সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়েই রাজ্যে আসছে আরও বিনিয়োগ। ই-কমার্স সংস্থা ফ্লিপকার্ট এবার রাজ্যে ৬৫০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করতে চলেছে। তারা এবার লজিস্টিক হাব তৈরি করবে রাজ্যে। আর এই হাব হলে সরাসরি পাঁচ হাজার কর্মসংস্থান হবে। পরোক্ষে ১৫ হাজার কর্মসংস্থান হতে পারে বলে জানানো হয়েছে শিল্প দপ্তরের তরফে।
ইতিমধ্যে সংস্থার তরফে রাজ্যে জমি পরিদর্শন করে গিয়েছেন সংস্থার আধিকারিকরা। রাজ্যের শিল্প দপ্তরের পক্ষ থেকে সংস্থাকে জানানো হয়েছে, জমি কোনও সমস্যা হবে না। খড়গপুর ও পানাগড়ের শিল্প তালুকে জমি পরিদর্শনও করানো হয়েছে। এবার ফ্লিপকার্ট কোন জায়গাকে বেছে নেন, তা জানানোর পরই এ ব্যাপারে চূড়ান্ত হবে মৌ।
একই জায়গায় ৮০ একর জমির প্রয়োজনীয়তার কথা জানিয়েছে সংস্থাটি। ৪০ লক্ষ বর্গফুট জুড়ে এই লজিস্টিক হাব তৈরি করবে ফ্লিপকার্ট। নিজেরাই বাংলাকে তারা বেছে নিয়েছে বিনিয়োগের জন্য। বাংলার বাজারকে তাঁরা কাজে লাগাতে চাইছেন। আর বাংলা থেকে সেই সাড়াও তাঁরা ইতিমধ্যে পেয়েছেন। পরিকাঠামো ও উন্নত যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা থাকবে, এমন জায়গা বেছে নেওয়াই এই শিল্পোদ্যোগের পরবর্তী ধাপ। রীতিমতো সমীক্ষা করে তারা রাজ্যে লগ্নির প্রস্তাব দিয়েছে।
সম্প্রতি কেন্দ্রীয় শিল্প নীতি বিষয়ক দপ্তরের পক্ষ থেকে শংসাপত্র দেওয়া হয়েছে, এ রাজ্য শিল্পোদ্যোগ তৈরিতে এক নম্বর। তারপরই এই বিনিয়োগ বার্তা রাজ্যের শিল্প পরিচায়ক বলেই মনে করছে শিল্পমহল।
