Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated a slew of projects for Purulia district during a public programme. She also laid the foundation stones of several projects.

Among the projects inaugurated were renovation of health centres, anganwadi centres, new roads, tube wells, irrigation projects, Resham Bhavan among others.

Foundation stones were laid for godowns, Karma Tirtha, administrative buildings, high mast lamps etc.
Besides these, Mamata Banerjee distributed the benefits of schemes like Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, Samaj Sathi, Gatidhara etc. She also distributed soil health cards, land pattas, power tillers and other equipment.

Highlights of her speech:

This is my second meeting in Purulia district in three months. Earlier, the ministers hardly visited these districts. Today, I conducted my 396th administrative review meeting at block level.

We have given recognition to many languages including Kurmali, Kuruk, Ol Chiki.

Those who have no work are spreading baseless rumours. Our work is to serve the people.

45 lakh Kanyashree girls are our pride. They will make Bengal proud in future. University students will receive Kanyashree scholarships from now on (Rs 2,000 for arts and Rs 2,500 for science).

We have distributed 70 lakh cycles to students. 57 lakh SC/ST students and 1.71 crore minority students have received scholarships. Nearly 2 lakh folk artistes receive monthly stipend.

We have waived off khajna tax on agricultural land. We have done away with mutation fees on agricultural land.

We provide rice at Rs 2/kg to people. For this we give subsidy worth crores.

Healthcare is free in Bengal. Medicines, blood tests are free here.

Bengal never bowed her head before anyone. Bengal always leads the way. Let them catch up with us and then talk.

It is a crime to pit people against each other. Inciting religious riots, creating divisions is unacceptable.

Bengal never allows the politics of riots. We want people to prosper.

Some people say their target is Bangla (Bengal). We say our target is ‘Lal Kella’ (Red Fort). Chalo Dilli Chalo.

Bengal will lead the way, taking everyone along.

We have started a new scheme called ‘Ruposhree’. We will provide financial aid to families with income less than Rs 1.5 lakh to assist them in their daughter’s wedding.

There was a time when one could see only tears in the eyes of the people in Purulia. Now, people are smiling.

 

ওদের টার্গেট বাংলা, আমাদের টার্গেট লাল কেল্লা: পুরুলিয়ায় মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

আজ পুরুলিয়া জেলার শিমুলিয়াতে পরিষেবা প্রদান অনুষ্ঠানের মঞ্চ থেকে একগুচ্ছ প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। তিনি বিভিন্ন প্রকল্পের শিলান্যাসও করেন।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী যে সকল প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করেন, তার কয়েকটি হল, স্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্রের সংস্কার, আঙ্গনওয়াড়ি কেন্দ্র, নতুন রাস্তা, নলকূপ প্রকল্প, নদী সেচ প্রকল্প, রেশম ভবন ইত্যাদি।

তিনি যে সকল প্রকল্পের শিলান্যাস করেন, তার কয়েকটি হল, গুদাম ঘর, কর্মতীর্থ, প্রশাসনিক ভবন, আলোক স্তম্ভ ইত্যাদি।

এছাড়াও তিনি কন্যাশ্রী, সবুজশ্রী, শিক্ষাশ্রী, সবুজসাথী, সমাজসাথী, গতিধারা, পাট্টা, সয়েল হেলথ কার্ড, পাওয়ার টিলারইত্যাদি পরিষেবা প্রদান করেন।

তাঁর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশঃ-

তিন মাসে পুরুলিয়ায় এটা আমার দ্বিতীয় বৈঠক। আগে কোন মন্ত্রীকে এখানে দেখা যেত না। আজকের এই প্রশাসনিক বৈঠক নিয়ে সব মিলিয়ে আমি ৩৫৬ টি বৈঠক করলাম।

কুর্মালি, কুরুক, অল চিকি সহ অনেক ভাষাকে আমরা স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছি।

যারা কোন কাজ করে না তারা শুধু রটিয়ে বেড়ায় আর টাকা তুলে বিবৃতি দেয়। আর আমাদের কাজ মানুষের সেবা করা।

আমাদের ৪৫ লক্ষ কন্যাশ্রীর মেয়েদের জন্য আমরা গর্বিত। তারা এখন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পড়াশোনা করার জন্যও স্কলারশিপ পাবে।

আমরা ৭০ লক্ষ সবুজ সাথী সাইকেল দিয়েছি। ৫৭ লক্ষ SC/ST ছাত্রছাত্রী ও ১.৭১ কোটি সংখ্যালঘু ছাত্রছাত্রীদের স্কলারশিপ দেওয়া হয়েছে। প্রায় ২ লক্ষ লোকশিল্পীদের আর্থিক সহায়তা দেওয়া হয়।

আমরা কৃষিজমির খাজনা মুকুব করে দিয়েছি। কৃষকদের কৃষিজমির জন্য আর মিউটেশন ফি দিতে হয় না।

শুধুমাত্র বাংলায় আমাদের সরকার ২ টাকা কেজি দরে চাল দিচ্ছে। আমরা কয়েক হাজার কোটি টাকা সাবসিডি দিচ্ছি।

একমাত্র বাংলায় বিনামূল্যে চিকিৎসা দেওয়া হয়। ওষুধপত্র, রক্ত পরীক্ষা বিনামূল্যে হয়।

বাংলা কখনো কারো কাছে মাথা নত করেনি। বাংলা মানুষকে পথ দেখায়। আগে করে দেখাও তারপর বাংলার দিকে তাকাও।

মানুষকে গড়ে তোলা আমাদের কাজ, দাঙ্গা লাগানো আমাদের কাজ নয়। কেউ তা করার চেষ্টা করলে তা অপরাধ।

বাংলা কখনো দাঙ্গার রাজনীতি বরদাস্ত করে না। আমরা চাই মানুষ ভালো থাকুক।

কেউ কেউ বলে ওদের টার্গেট বাংলা। আমরা বলি, আমাদের টার্গেট দিল্লির ‘লাল কেল্লা’। চলো দিল্লি চলো।

আগামীদিনে বাংলাই সবাইকে পথ দেখাবে। আগামীদিনে বাংলা বিশ্ব জয় করবে, বাংলা যা পারে আর কেউ তা পারে না।

মেয়েদের জন্য আমরা একটি নতুন প্রকল্প চালু করেছি যার নাম ‘রূপশ্রী’। যাদের পরিবারের আয় দেড় লক্ষ টাকা তাদের মেয়েদের বিয়ের জন্য ২৫ হাজার টাকা দেবে সরকার।

আগে একটা সময় ছিল যখন পুরুলিয়ায় এসে আমি মানুষের চোখে শুধু জল দেখতে পেতাম, আর এখন এখানকার মানুষ হাসছে, এতেই আমি খুশি।

There is another good news for the State Government: according to a Union Food Processing Industries Ministry report, Bengal is ahead of its neighbours in foodgrain procurement and foodgrain storage infrastructure.

As per the report, Bengal has a lot of potential in the field of paddy procurement. Hence, while the procurement during the 2016-17 kharif season was 40 lakh metric tonnes, the target set for the 2017-18 season by the State Government is 52 lakh metric tonnes.

After the Trinamool Congress Government came to power in 2011, the state has stopped procuring foodgrains from neighbouring states for distribution through the public distribution system, that is, ration shops, which is a big achievement.

On the other hand, Bengal is selling foodgrains to its neighbouring states for distribution through the PDS. Jharkhand, for example, is buying 5 lakh metric tonnes from Bengal. Not just that, the Centre now wants Bengal to supply to Tamil Nadu and Kerala too.

Additionally, as per the report, the Centre now wants Bengal to join the elite list of states which supply foodgrains to other states to make up for their shortfall. Hence, Bengal would soon join states like Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

 

সরকারি উদ্যোগে ধান সংগ্রহে প্রতিবেশী রাজ্যগুলির থেকে অনেক এগিয়ে বাংলা

প্রতিবেশী রাজ্যগুলির থেকে সরকারি উদ্যোগে ধান সংগ্রহের পরিকাঠামো ও পরিমাণের নিরিখে এগিয়ে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ। কেন্দ্রীয় খাদ্য মন্ত্রকের ডাকা বৈঠকের রিপোর্ট থেকেই এটা পরিষ্কার।

চলতি খরিফ মরশুম শুরু হওয়ার পরেই কেন্দ্রীয় খাদ্যমন্ত্রক পশ্চিমবঙ্গ, বিহার, অসম, ঝাড়খণ্ড এবং উত্তরপ্রদেশে ধান সংগ্রহের প্রস্তুতি নিয়ে বিশেষ বৈঠক ডেকেছিল। খাদ্যমন্ত্রকের যুগ্মসচিবের সভাপতিত্বে হওয়া এই বৈঠকের বিস্তারিত রিপোর্টে দেখা যাচ্ছে, চাল সংগ্রহের ক্ষেত্রে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের অবস্থা সব থেকে ভালো।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সম্পর্কে বলা হয়েছে, ধান সংগ্রহে এ রাজ্যে বিরাট সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। তাই ২০১৬-১৭ খরিফ মরশুমে ৪০ লক্ষ টন ধান সংগ্রহ হলেও, ২০১৭-১৮ মরশুমে তা আরও বাড়ানোর সুযোগ রয়েছে। প্রসঙ্গত, চলতি খরিফ মরশুমে রাজ্য সরকার ৫২ লক্ষ টন ধান সংগ্রহের লক্ষ্যামাত্রা ধার্য করেছে। ফেব্রুয়ারি মাসের শুরুতে সরকারি উদ্যোগে ধান সংগ্রহ ১৬ লক্ষ টন ছাড়িয়ে গিয়েছে

কেন্দ্রের রিপোর্টে দেখা যাচ্ছে, অন্তত ৩৭ লক্ষ টন ধান ওই রাজ্যকে কিনতে বলা হয়েছে। প্রসঙ্গত, ২০১১ সালে তৃণমূল সরকার ক্ষমতায় আসার পর থেকে গত প্রায় পাঁচ বছর ধরে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে রেশনে ভিন রাজ্যের চাল সরবরাহ বন্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছে।

উল্লেখ্য, ঝাড়খণ্ড সরকার ওই রাজ্যের রেশনে সরবরাহ করার জন্য পশ্চিমবঙ্গ থেকে চাল নিতে আগ্রহী। ঝাড়খণ্ড, তামিলনাড়ু ও কেরলে চাল সরবরাহ করুক এই রাজ্য, কেন্দ্র এটাই চাইছে।

It is an accepted fact now that the hurried implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) by the Central Government across the country has led to massive inconveniences for the business community as well as huge losses for the government due to confusion regarding the tax rates.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was the first leader of national stature to speak out against GST, as she was with demonetisation earlier.

On February 7, while reacting to the Budget discussions in the Assembly, Finance Minister Dr Amit Mitra said that despite the rushed implementation, losses due to GST in Bengal were lower than in many other states because the digitial infrastructure was already in place. And the digital infrastructure is the result of the e-governance initiative of the Trinamool Congress Government, for which Bengal has bagged several awards, including from the Central Government.

To prove his statement about low loss, he gave out the numbers: Rs 589 crore for Bengal during the September-October 2017 period, compared to Rs 2,000 crore for Karnataka, Rs 1,132 crore for Gujarat and Rs 1,054 crore for Bihar.

Earlier, Dr Mitra had said that the Union Government has not fulfilled its commitment for reimbursing the loss on account of the introduction of GST. Bengal has lost Rs 1,850 crore on this count, of which Rs 850 crore was yet to be compensated.

জিএসটি তে সব থেকে কম ক্ষতি হবে বাংলারঃ অমিত মিত্র

এটি এখন সকলের কাছে পরিষ্কার কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের অপরিকল্পিত ভাবে জোর করে চাপিয়ে দেওয়ার গুডস অ্যান্ড সার্ভিসেস ট্যাক্সের ফলে সারা দেশের ব্যাবসায়ীরা বিপর্যস্ত। কারন, তারা এখনও পরিষ্কার ভাবে জানেন না কোন জিনিসে কত শতাংশ কর ধার্য করেছে কেন্দ্র। এর ফলে ব্যাবসায়ীদের পাশাপাশি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে সরকার-ও।

বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় নোটবাতিলের বিরুদ্ধে দেশের মধ্যে যেমন প্রথম প্রতিবাদে নেমেছিলেন, এক্ষেত্রেও তার অন্যথা হয় নি।

বিধানসভায় জবাবী ভাষণে অর্থমন্ত্রী বলেন, এই হঠকারী জিএসটি প্রণয়ন স্বত্বেও যেহেতু বাংলায় ইতিমধ্যেই ডিজিটাল পরিকাঠামো বর্তমান, বাংলার ক্ষয়ক্ষতি অন্যান্য অনেক রাজ্যের তুলনায় কম হয়েছে। আর এই পরিকাঠামো সম্ভব হয়েছে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস সরকারের ই-গভর্ন্যান্স উদ্যোগের ফলে। এই উদ্যোগের ফলে রাজ্য সরকার প্রচুর পুরস্কার পেয়েছে কেন্দ্রের থেকে।

তাঁর কথার প্রমাণ স্বরূপ তিনি তথ্য দিয়ে বুঝিয়ে দেন, সেপ্টেম্বর-অক্টোবর ২০১৭ তে রাজ্য সরকারের ক্ষতি হয়েছে ৫৮৯ কোটি টাকা, যখন কর্ণাটক রাজ্যের ক্ষতি হয়েছে ২০০০ কোটি টাকা ও গুজরাটের ১১৩২ কোটি টাকা ও বিহারে ১০৫৪ কোটি টাকা।

এর আগে আমিত মিত্র বলেছেন কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার রাজ্য সরকারগুলির ক্ষতিপূরণের কোনও ব্যবস্থা করেনি. বাংলার এই বাবদ ১৮৫০ কোটি টাকা ক্ষতি হয়েছে, যার মধ্যে ৮৫০ টাকা ক্ষতিপূরণ এখনও পাওয়া বাকি।

The gap between male and female child mortality rates has reduced considerably in Bengal, propelling the state to the list of the best five states in terms of this key developmental index.

The latest Sample Registration Survey (SRS 2016) has found 28 deaths per 1,000 among girl children in the 0-4 age group, and 27 among boys. This is a huge improvement: the 2011 figure was 40 and 37 respectively.

The narrowing-down of the gap is a boost to the larger goal of gender equality. This is very good not only in terms of social consciousness, but also in terms of preparing a gender-equal strong workforce. The figures speak of a growing consciousness – that girl children are no more outcasts.

 

শিশু মৃত্যুর হার হ্রাসে নয়া নজির বাংলার

শিশু মৃত্যুর হারে লিঙ্গ-বৈষম্যের ব্যবধান উল্লেখযোগ্য ভাবে কমল বাংলায়। এই সূচকের নিরিখে দেশে প্রথম পাঁচটি রাজ্যের অন্যতম পশ্চিমবঙ্গ।

সাম্প্রতিক স্যাম্পেল রেজিস্ট্রেসন সার্ভে ২০১৬ তে দেখা গেছে ০-৪ বছর পর্যন্ত বয়সের মেয়েদের মধ্যে মৃত্যুর হার প্রতি হাজারে ২৮। একই ভাবে,০-৪ বছর পর্যন্ত বয়সের ছেলেদের মধ্যে মৃত্যুর হার প্রতি হাজারে ২৭। এই পরিসংখ্যানটি ২০১১ তে ছিল যথাক্রমে ৪০ ও ৩৭।

এই পরিসংখ্যানের মাধ্যমে বোঝা যায় ছেলে-মেয়ের সংখ্যার ভারসাম্য নিয়ন্ত্রণে কতটা এগিয়ে এ রাজ্য। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর অনুপ্রেরণায় রাজ্যে সচেতনতা বাড়ছে এবং লিঙ্গ ভারসাম্য বজায় রাখতে অনেকটাই সফল হয়েছে রাজ্য।

উল্লেখ্য, বাংলায় সামগ্রিক শিশু মৃত্যুর হার ছয় বছরে (প্রতি হাজারে) ৪২ থেকে কমে ২৫ হয়েছে।

Ever since attending the first Bengal Global Business Summits a few years back, entrepreneurs and leaders of industry have showered praises on Bengal and its and its industrial climate. They have reacted with a lot of positivity to the Bengal Government’s attitude and have highly appreciated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s honest efforts to bring industry back to the state. They have enthusiastically participated in the Bengal Global Business Summits.

প্রথম বারের বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলনে অংশগ্রহনের সময় থেকেই শিল্পপতিরা বাংলার তথা বাংলার শিল্পমুখী বাতাবরণের প্রশংসা করেছেন। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের বিনিয়োগ আনার প্রয়াসের প্রশংসা করেছেন। তাঁরা খুব আগ্রহের সঙ্গে সম্মেলনে অংশগ্রহণও করেছেন।

২০১৭ সালের সম্মেলনের পর কিছু শিল্পপতির মন্তব্য তুলে ধরা হলঃ-

বার্ষিক বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলনে সরকার বাংলার সম্ভাবনার কথা তুলে ধরে বিনিয়োগ আনতে চায়। সাফল্য তুলে ধরার পাশাপাশি রাজ্যের উচিত এই মঞ্চের মাধ্যমে বাণিজ্য গোষ্ঠীর সঙ্গে নিয়মিত বার্তালাপ করা যার ফলে “শিল্প গড়ার সুবিধা” আরও সহজ হয়, যাতে একজন বিনিয়োগকারী এমনভাবে নিজেকে তৈরী করতে পারে যাতে কর্মসংস্থান হবে (সুনিল কানোরিয়া, ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান, শ্রেয়ি ইনফ্রাস্ট্রাকচার ফিনান্স লিমিটেড)

বাংলার অর্থনীতি পূর্ববর্তী বছরের ক্রমবর্ধমান মন্দার সফল ভাবে প্রতিরোধ করতে সক্ষম হয়েছে ও আজ বাংলা উন্নতির মুখে। আমরা বাংলায় উন্নতি করতে চাই যার ফলে ক্রেতা ও বিনিয়োগকারী উভয়ই সমৃদ্ধ হবে। এই রাজ্যের শিল্পায়নের গতির সাফল্যকে আমরা কটক ও রাজগঙ্গাপুরে অনুকরন করেছি, প্রথম দফার কাজ শেষ করে শালবনিতে আমরা আমাদের উপস্থিতি আরও বাড়াতে চাই, আমাদের উন্নত মেশিনের মাধ্যমে সারা রাজ্যে সিমেন্ট পৌঁছে যাবে, পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নে উন্নতি আসবে (পুনিত ডালমিয়া, এমডি, ডালমিয়া ভারত অ্যান্ড গ্রুপ ডিরেক্টর, ওসিএল ইন্ডিয়া লিমিটেড)

নির্মাণক্ষেত্রে বাংলায় প্রচুর সুযোগ আছে-আমাদের ভৌগলিক সুবিধা, দক্ষ শ্রমিক ও প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদের সুবিধা আছে (সুমিত মজুমদার, সিএমডি, টিআইএল লিমিটেড)

বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলন একটি বিশেষ অনুষ্ঠান। আমরা কয়েকটি বিনিয়োগ চুক্তি স্বাক্ষর করেছি, যেমন এম আর টি এস হাব। এতে বাংলার নির্মাণ শিল্প পুনরুজ্জীবিত হবে। এতে অতিরিক্ত বিদেশী বিনিয়োগ আসবে, যা আমরা ইতিমধ্যেই বিমানবন্দরের মাধ্যমে পেয়েছি (পার্থ ঘোষ, এমডি, বেঙ্গল এরোট্রোপলিস প্রোজেক্টস লিমিটেড)

এটি রাজ্যের এক অসাধারণ প্রয়াস, আমি মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ও তাঁর দলকে আমার শুভেচ্ছা জানাতে চাই। এর ফলে বিশ্বের কাছে খুব ভালো বার্তা গেছে এবং এও দেখা যাচ্ছে যে ভারতীয় নেতারা রাজনৈতিক আদর্শের থেকে অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়নে বেশী গুরুত্ব দেন (উমেশ চৌধুরী ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান এন্ড এম ডি টিটাগড় ওয়াগনস লিমিটেড)

To improve the production of the ever-popular hilsa (ilish) in the state, the Bengal Government has decided to take help from marine scientists of Norway and experts specifically on hilsa.

For this, the government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Norwegian government. A delegation from the country has already visited the state.

Already, with the help of marine scientists of Jadavpur University, the government has started cultivation of the fish in five regions, comprising estuarine regions and regions in the Ganga basin.

As a result of these initiatives, not only would hilsa become more affordable, hilsa cultivators would also be able to earn a viable livelihood.

 

রাজ্যে ইলিশ মাছের ফলন বাড়াতে সাহায্য করবে নরওয়ে

বাংলায় ইলিশের উৎপাদন বাড়াতে নরওয়ের বিজ্ঞানী ও ইলিশ বিশেষজ্ঞদের সাহায্য নিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার। পাশাপাশি যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সমুদ্রবিজ্ঞানীদের সাহায্যে প্রাথমিক ভাবে সাগর মোহনায় এবং গঙ্গা নদীর অববাহিকায় ৫টি এলাকা চিহ্নিত করে, বিশেষ প্রকল্পে হাত দিয়েছে রাজ্য।

এ ব্যাপারে নরওয়ের সঙ্গে রাজ্যের মৌ স্বাক্ষরিত হয়েছে। তাদের একটি প্রতিনিধিদল ইতিমধ্যেই রাজ্যে ঘুরে গেছে, আবার আসবে। যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সমুদ্রবিজ্ঞানের গবেষকরাও রাজ্য সরকারের কথায় আগেই একটি রিপোর্ট দিয়েছিলেন।

সেপ্টেম্বরের পূর্ণিমার ৫দিন আগে থেকে অক্টোবরের পূর্ণিমার ৫দিন পর পর্যন্ত নদীতে ইলিশ মাছ ধরা একেবারেই নিষিদ্ধ করা হবে। এজন্য ইলিশ ধরার ওপর নির্ভরশীল মৎস্যজীবী পরিবারকে বিকল্প আয়ের ব্যপারে মৎস্য দপ্তর সহযোগিতা করবে।

মূলত যে পাঁচটি জায়গায় ইলিশ ধরা ওই সময়ে নিষিদ্ধ করা হবে, সেগুলি হল:

১. সুন্দরবনে ঠাকুরানী, মাতলা ও রায়মঙ্গল নদীর অববাহিকায় পাঁচ বর্গ কিলোমিটার
২. ফারাক্কা বাঁধ এলাকা
৩. ফারাক্কা থেকে লালবাগ পর্যন্ত এলাকা
৪. ডায়মন্ড হারবার থেকে নিসচিন্দপুর, গোদাখালি
৫. বলাগড়, হুগলী ঘাট থেকে কাটোয়া।

এই উদ্যোগের ফলে ইলিশ মাছ শুধু যে সুলভ হবে তা নয়, পাশাপাশি বাংলার মৎস্যজীবীদের সুদিনও আসবে।

The mahant of Kapil Muni Ashram on Sagar Island has recently praised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee profusely for the work she has done in the making of adequate arrangements for the people visiting Sagar Mela and for making Sagar Island a popular tourist destination all through the year.

He said she has done so much on her own initiative that there cannot be any more demands.

The Kapil Muni Ashram has been entirely renovated. The road from Kochuberia to Sagar Island is being four-laned. Tourist cottages with all facilities have been built on the island. Many other facilities are also being set up.

During the six-and-a-half years of the Trinamool Congress Government, Sagar Island has seen unprecedented development.

সাগরে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কাজে খুশি মহন্ত

আলোয় ভাসছে সৈকত। কপিলমুলি আশ্রম ঘিরে রাজ্য সরকারের সুবিশাল কর্মযজ্ঞ প্রায় শেষ পর্যায়ে। কচুবেড়িয়া থেকে প্রায় তিরিশ কিলোমিটার ফোর লেনের কাজ চলছে। থাকার জন্য তৈরী হয়েছে বহুমুখী অনেক কটেজ। অন্য নানারকম ব্যবস্থা। পুণ্যস্নানে আসা লক্ষ লক্ষ মানুষের জন্যই এসব তৈরী হয়েছে। এই সাগর আমাদের চেনা নয়। সাড়ে ছয় বছরে বাংলার তথা দেশের পবিত্র এই তীর্থক্ষেত্রকে সত্যিই বদলে দিয়েছেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

একসময় গঙ্গাসাগর বিখ্যাত ছিল শুধুমাত্র সাগরমেলার জন্য। এখন হয়ে উঠেছে পর্যটনের অন্যতম ঠিকানা। সারা বছরই প্রচুর মানুষ আসেন বেড়াতে। সমুদ্রতটের রূপই বদলে গিয়েছে কপিলমুনির দেশে।

কুম্ভ মেলার মতোই সাগর মেলার বিশালতা। তাই, প্রয়োজনীয় সব পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করতে নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। মহন্ত মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর ভূয়সী প্রশংসা করেন। তিনি বলেন ‘মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় খুব সৎ মানুষ। না চাইতেই উনি সাগরের জন্য যা করছেন, তার পর আর কিছু চাওয়ার নেই।’

Baluchari and jamdani are two of the most beautiful examples of sarees from Bengal. The State Government has been making a lot of efforts to make them more popular. As a result, the lot of the handloom weavers who make these is also improving.

Depending on the quality and types of saree, the earning of weavers has increased from 200 to 250 per day to Rs 350 to 500 per day.

Last April, Tantuja had opened an exclusive showroom for baluchari products on Park Street, Kolkata – not just sarees, but readymade garments, kurtas, belts, ladies’ bags and home décor items too.

The huge success of that has now encouraged Tantuja to open another exclusive outlet – this time for jamdani products, on Lenin Sarani.

It is going to be opened to the public in early 2018. To make the jamdani sarees more affordable, products covering a wide range of prices would be available – from Rs 2,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

তাঁতশিল্পের প্রসারে এবার জামদানির নয়া বিপণন

বাংলার তাঁতশিল্পের বাজারকে আরও ছড়িয়ে দিতে এবার জামদানি শাড়িতে নজর দিচ্ছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার। নবাবি আমলের মুঘল দরবারি চিত্রকলার সঙ্গে বাংলার নকশি কাঁথায় মন্দির টেরাকোটার বুননে তৈরী বালুচরির চাহিদা বরাবরই ছিল। বালুচরির বিক্রী বাড়াতে আট মাস আগে ‘এক্সক্লুসিভ’ বিপণন কেন্দ্র গড়েছে রাজ্য সরকারের নিয়ন্ত্রণাধীন ‘তন্তুজ’। একই ধাঁচে বাংলার বস্ত্রশিল্পের ওপর এক অতুলনীয় সৃষ্টি জামদানির বাজারকে চাঙ্গা করে তুলতে শহরের বুকে আরও একটি নতুন এক্সক্লুসিভ বিপণন কেন্দ্র গড়ে তুলছে তারা।

লেনিন সরণীতে এই শোরুমটি তৈরী হচ্ছে। টেন্ডার ডেকে কাজ শুরু হয়ে গেছে। এখানে থাকবে নানা ধরনের জামদানি শাড়ি। দুই আড়াই হাজার থেকে শুরু করে একলাখি জামদানিও পাওয়া যাবে এখানে।

পার্ক স্ট্রীটে তন্তুজের বালুচরি শাড়ির ‘এক্সক্লুসিভ’ বিপণন কেন্দ্রটি চালু হয়েছে গত এপ্রিল মাসে। সংস্থার সূত্র থেকে জানা গেছে, আগে সংস্থার বিভিন্ন শোরুম থেকে বালুচরি বিক্রী করে বার্ষিক আয় হত বড়জোর ১০ থেকে ১২ লক্ষ টাকা। নতুন বিপণন কেন্দ্রটির দৌলতে তা বেড়েছে পাঁচগুণেরও বেশী। এপ্রিল থেকে অক্টোবর মাত্র ছয় মাসে সেখান থেকে বালুচরি বিক্রী হয়েছে ৫২ লক্ষ ১৭ হাজার টাকার।

বালুচরি, স্বর্ণচরি ও জামদানি বাংলার হস্তশিল্পের অন্যতম নিদর্শন। তাই এদের জনপ্রিয়তা বাড়াতেই এরম উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হচ্ছে। বালুচরির এক্সক্লুসিভ শোরুমটি থেকে বিপুল লাভের পরেই এই নতুন বিপণনটি খোলার সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। আগামী বছরের শুরুতেই এই কেন্দ্রটি উদ্বোধন করা হবে।

তন্তুজের এই উদ্যোগে প্রধানত উপকৃত হচ্ছেন বাংলার তাঁতশিল্পীরা। তাদের দৈনিক মজুরীও অনেক বেড়েছে। শাড়ির ধরন অনুযায়ী তাঁতিরা প্রতিদিন ৩৫০ থেকে ৫০০ টাকার মতো মজুরি পাচ্ছেন। আগে এই মজুরি ছিল ২০০ থেকে ২৫০ টাকার মধ্যে।

এখন আরও একটি এক্সক্লুসিভ বিপণী খোলার পর বাংলার তাঁতশিল্প যেমন অন্য মাত্রা পাবে, তেমনই তাঁতিদের জীবনযাত্রার মান আরও উন্নত হবে।
