The State Transport Department will start providing, in a phase-wise manner, trauma care ambulances to various municipalities and administrative officials from various districts. 

The ambulances would be distributed among the beneficiaries at a programme on January 22. The municipalities that will receive trauma care ambulances in the first phase are Murshidabad, Dhuliyan, Kharagpur and Kaliaganj, along with the district magistrate of Jhargram and a few clubs.

Each ambulance will have a doctor, nurses and paramedical staff. The maintenance and repair of the ambulances would be the responsibility of those using them.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has laid enormous stress on the issue of road safety. Her brainchild, the ‘Safe Drive, Save Life’ project, is a success that has been recognised at the national level. She has also instructed the police and district administration to identify the black spots along national and State highways and take preventive measures to check accidents.

This year, the State Transport Department has taken a novel approach towards the International Kolkata Book Fair – organising a Book Fair-centred package tour.

The South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) is responsible for the project. This project was taken up following the success of the Durga Puja package tours, which start right from the day of Mahalaya.

This year the Book Fair is being held from January 31 to February 11. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be inaugurating the fair today. A literary festival, the Kolkata Literature Festival, is also going to be held for a few days of the fair at the same venue.

Like every year, this year too the Transport Department is organising special buses for the hundreds of thousands of people who will be visiting the fair in Salt Lake, among whom are foreign tourists too.

Last year, 120 buses had been arranged. This year that number has gone up to 190. There are both non-AC and AC buses, and government as well as private buses.

Buses will be running between Salt Lake and Dharmatala, Howrah, Sealdah, Santragachi, Bali Rajchandrapur, Thakurpukur, Parnashree, Garia, Kamalgazi, Baruipur, Barasat, Dum Dum and a few other places.

The State Transport Department has set a record by achieving 100 per cent (and more) implementation of the Gatidhara Scheme in the financial year (FY) 2017-18. Gatidhara is a dream project of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, to help unemployed youths get a means of livelihood.

The department had set a target of bringing in 10,000 unemployed youths under the Gatidhara Scheme, and with timely steps taken it, has managed to extend the benefits of the scheme to 10,553 unemployed youths.

It may be mentioned that in the previous two fiscals too, the State Government had achieved 100 per cent implementation of the scheme, and the number of beneficiaries has been steadily increasing. It was 5,200 unemployed youths during FY 2015-16 and 8,500 during 2016-17.

This scheme has come up as a source of income for the youths and it has also created a new dimension for the state’s transport sector.

 

গতিধারা প্রকল্পের লক্ষ্যমাত্রা ছাড়িয়ে গেল পরিবহণ দপ্তর

 

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের মস্তিষ্কপ্রসুত গতিধারা প্রকল্পের মুকুটে নয়া পালক। ২০১৭-১৮ অর্থবর্ষে যে লক্ষ্যমাত্রা ধার্য করা হয়েছিল, তা ছাড়িয়ে গেছে পরিবহণ দপ্তর।

পরিবহণ দপ্তর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছিল ২০১৮ সালের মার্চ মাসের মধ্যে ১০,০০০ যুবকে এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় নিয়ে আসা হবে। হিসেবে মত, এই অর্থবর্ষে গতিধারা প্রকল্পের আওয়তায় এসেছেন ১০,৫৫৩ জন।

প্রসঙ্গত, গত দুই অর্থবর্ষেও দপ্তর এই প্রকল্পের লক্ষ্যমাত্রা পূরণ করেছিল দপ্তর। উত্তরোত্তর বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে উপকৃতের সংখ্যাও। ২০১৫-১৬ সালে এই প্রকল্পে উপকৃতের সংখ্যা ছিল ৫২০০। ২০১৬-১৭ তে তা বেড়ে হয় ৮৫০০।

এই প্রকল্পের ফলে বেকার যুবদের যেমন আয়ের এক পথ খুলে গেছে, তেমনই রাজ্যের পরিবহণ ব্যবস্থা পেয়েছে এক নতুন মাত্রা।

After its immense success in New Town and Rajarhat, bike taxis are soon going to hit the streets of Kolkata. A notification in this regard will be issued shortly by the State Transport Department.

It may be recalled that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Transport Department and the private company that will operate the bike taxis during the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) in January. Considering the potential, the

Department is confident that once the service starts in the city, more aggregators will show interest in entering into the business of plying bike taxis.

Like in New Town and Rajarhat, all sorts of safety measures will be in place. One would be able to book a bike taxi using a cell phone app as it is now done for booking app-based cabs.

An official of the Transport Department said that gradually bike taxis can be introduced in several other urban areas. They will thus create a new dimension in the public transport sector of the State.

কলকাতার রাস্তায় এবার বাইক-ট্যাক্সি

নিউ টাউন ও রাজারহাটে ব্যাপক সাফল্যের পর এবার কলকাতার রাস্তায় নামতে চলেছে বাইক-ট্যাক্সি। শীঘ্রই এই সংক্রান্ত বিজ্ঞপ্তি জারি করবে পরিবহণ দপ্তর। ২০১৮ সালের জানুয়ারি মাসে অনুষ্ঠিত বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলনে এই বিষয়ে মৌ স্বাক্ষরিত হয়েছে পরিবহণ দপ্তর এবং একটি বেসরকারি সংস্থার মধ্যে।

মোবাইল অ্যাপের মাধ্যমে যেমন ট্যাক্সি ডাকা যায়, ঠিক সেভাবেই বাইক ট্যাক্সিও বুকিং করা যাবে। নিউটাউন ও রাজারহাটের মত যাত্রী নিরাপত্তার সমস্ত ব্যবস্থা থাকবে এই বাইক ট্যাক্সিগুলোতে।

রাজারহাটে একটি বেসরকারি সংস্থা রাজ্য পরিবহন দপ্তরের সমস্ত নির্দেশিকা মেনে এই বাইক ট্যাক্সি পরিষেবা চালায়। সেই সংস্থাই সমস্ত বাইক কেনে এবং চালক নিযুক্ত করে।
তবে কলকাতায় এই সংস্থা কলকাতার বাইক মালিকদের সঙ্গে চুক্তি করে তাদের বাইক দিয়েই এই পরিষেবা চালাবে। ঠিক যেভাবে অ্যাপ নির্ভর ট্যাক্সি চলে।

The Transport Minister recently presented his department’s budget for financial year 2018-19 in the Assembly. Stress has been given both on developing new services across land, water as well as air, and on improving the existing services.

The budget of the department for 2018-19 stands at Rs 1,588.81 crore, which is the highest budget for the Transport Department so far.

Three hundred new buses have already been introduced and steps have been taken to introduce more. He further said that 40 electric buses will be introduced in Kolkata soon. Another 10 electric buses in the Rajarhat-New Town area and 20 in Asansol and Durgapur will be introduced too.

In another major development, the State Transport department has also decided not to allow any more civic bodies to operate buses. Buses will be operated only by the transport corporations.

From March, there will be two helicopter services. Following the direction of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, steps have been taken to develop the airport at Chharra in Purulia district. Air connectivity from Cooch Behar and Malda will also be initiated soon.

Equal stress has been given to improve the water connectivity in the state. Twenty-seven vessels have already been introduced and 86 more will be engaged soon. Moreover, steps have been taken to replace the semi-mechanised vessels with robust ones, to ensure the safety of passengers.

Steps have been taken to ensure the standard operating procedure (SOP) is maintained at all the jetties. Life jackets similar to the ones used by the Coast Guard will also be introduced.

 

পরিষেবায় জোর পরিবহণ দপ্তরের বাজেটে

বিধানসভায় কয়েকদিন আগেই ২০১৮-১৯ সালের বাজেট পেশ করেন পরিবহণ মন্ত্রী। স্থল, জল ও আকাশপথে নতুন ও পুরনো পরিষেবায় জোর দেন মন্ত্রী।

এবছরে পরিবহণ বাজেট মোট ১৫৮৮.৮১ কোটি টাকা, যা দপ্তরের ইতিহাসে সর্বোচ্চ।

মন্ত্রী বলেন, ইতিমধ্যেই পরিবহণ দপ্তর ৩০০টি নতুন বাস নামিয়েছে, আরও নতুন বাস আনার উদ্যোগও নেওয়া হয়েছে। তিনি আরও বলেন, ৪০টি ইলেকট্রিক বাস শীঘ্রই কলকাতার রাস্তায় নামবে। রাজারহাট-নিউ টাউন অঞ্চলে ১০টি ও আসানসোল-দুর্গাপুরে ২০টি ইলেকট্রিক বাস শীঘ্রই চালু হবে।

এছাড়াও পরিবহণ দপ্তর সমস্ত সরকারি বাস নিগমকে একত্রিত করে এক ছাতার তলায় নিয়ে এসেছে।

মন্ত্রী জানান মার্চ মাসে চালু হবে দুটি হেলিকপ্টার পরিষেবা। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নির্দেশে পুরুলিয়ায় বিমানবন্দর তৈরী হচ্ছে। কোচবিহার ও মালদা থেকে বিমান পরিষেবাও শুরু হবে শীঘ্রই।

বাজেটে গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে জলপথ পরিবহণের ওপরেও। ২৭টি জলযান ইতিমধ্যেই চালু করা হয়েছে এবং আরও ৮৬টি খুব শীঘ্রই পরিষেবা শুরু করবে। যাত্রী সুরক্ষার কথা মাথায় রেখে সমস্ত পুরনো সেমি-মেকানাইজড জলযান বদল করে নামানো হয়েছে অত্যাধুনিক ভেসেল।

সমস্ত জেটির জন্য তৈরী করা হয়েছে স্ট্যান্ডার্ড অপারেটিং প্রোসিডিওর। উপকূলরক্ষীবাহিনী যে লাইফ জ্যাকেট ব্যবহার করে, আগামীদিনে সেরকম জ্যাকেট দেওয়া হবে ভেসেল যাত্রীদেরও, বলেন মন্ত্রী।

At just Rs 75 per person per day, the State Transport Department will be organising hop-on hop-off tours in Kolkata for people wanting to visit Durga Puja pandals. A set of buses, trams and vessels would be covering the routes along the major pandals of the city.

The tours would start on the day of Chaturthi, that is, September 24. Tickets would be available at Jadavpur 8B Bus Stand, Garia, Galif Street, Howrah, Behala No. 14 Tram Depot and other places.

Those holding a ticket can get off at any pandal and then take the next bus or tram or even vessel to the nearest point of another pandal. The service would run from 12 pm till midnight.

For the purpose of the tours, Kolkata has been broken up into five zones – north, south, east, west and central. A set of modes of transport would be covering a pre-designated route to the well-known pandals of each zone.

The ‘bonedi bari pujas’, that is, pujas held at the old mansions of illustrious families, in central and north Kolkata, which have a special charm of their own, can be covered by trams, using the same tickets. The same tickets can also be used to travel on vessels too. For example, if one wants to visit the Durga Puja at Belur Math, the person can board from Baghbazar or any of the other designated ghats.

 

পরিবহণ দপ্তরের উদ্যোগে ঠাকুর দেখতে এক টিকিটেই বাস-ট্রাম-ভেসেল

খরচ করতে হবে মাত্র ৭৫টাকা। আর তা দিয়েই দেখে নেওয়া যাবে শহরের সমস্ত নামকরা পুজো। পায়ে হেঁটে নয়। এসি, নন-এসি বাসে। একদম প্যান্ডেলের দোরগোড়ায় নামিয়ে দেওয়া হবে। একটি ঠাকুর দেখে বেরিয়েই দেখবেন, পিছনের বাস এসে হাজির পরের প্যান্ডেলে নিয়ে যাওয়ার জন্য। তাতে পা দিয়েই আরামে পৌঁছে যাবেন অন্য পুজোয়।

পুজোর কদিনের জন্য পরিবহণ দপ্তরের তরফে আনা হচ্ছে হপ অন হপ অফ পরিষেবা। এক টিকিটেই ঘুরে বেড়ানো যাবে গোটা দিন। চড়া যাবে সরকারি বাসে, ট্রামে, ভেসেলে। বাসগুলো ঘুরে বেড়াবে বড় পুজোকে কেন্দ্র করে তৈরি হওয়া নয়া রুটে। দুপুর ১২টা থেকে প্রায় মধ্যরাত পর্যন্ত চলবে এই পরিষেবা।

কলকাতাকে ভাঙা হয়েছে চার-পাঁচটি ভাগে। উত্তর, দক্ষিণ, পূর্ব, পশ্চিম এবং মধ্য কলকাতা। প্রত্যেক দিকের বড় পুজোকে কেন্দ্র করে তৈরি হয়েছে একেকটি রুট। শুধু বাসে নয়, মধ্য কলকাতার পুরনো এবং বনেদি বাড়ির পুজো দেখানো হবে ট্রামেও। ওই একই টিকিটে।
