Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated Vivek Chetana Utsab at a function held at Ganga Sagar Mela Camp, Babughat.

Vivek Chetana Utsab is being observed across the State on the occasion of 155th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

The festival is being organised in all 341 blocks, 118 municipalities, 6 corporations, Kolkata Municipal corporation, GTA, and all district headquarters of the State.

As part of the festival, padyatras will be held across the State. There will be symposiums, exhibitions, quiz, debates on Swami Vivekananda’s life. Football matches will also be organised. There will sit-and-draw competitions, along with essay-writing competitions and cultural events.

 

 

বিবেক চেতনা উৎসবের সূচনা করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

 

আজ বিবেক চেতনা উৎসবের শুভ সূচনা করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বাবুঘাটে গঙ্গাসাগর মেলা ক্যাম্প থেকে আজ এই উৎসবের উদ্বোধন করেন তিনি।

স্বামী বিবেকানন্দের ১৫৫ তম জন্মবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষ্যে রাজ্যব্যাপী এই উৎসবের আয়োজন করেছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের যুব কল্যাণ ও ক্রীড়া দপ্তর।

রাজ্যের ৩৪১টি ব্লক, ১১৮টি পুরসভা, ৬টি কর্পোরেশন, কলকাতা পৌর সংস্থার অধীন ১৪৪টি ওয়ার্ড এবং জিটিএ সহ রাজ্যের প্রতিটি জেলাসদরে এই উৎসব আয়োজিত হবে।

এই উৎসবে থাকবে পদযাত্রা, বিবেকানন্দের জীবন ও কর্ম বিষয়ক প্রদর্শনী, ছাত্র-যুবদের চরিত্র গঠন বিষয়ক আলোচনা, বিবেকানন্দ বিষয়ক ক্যুইজ, বিতর্ক, প্রদর্শনী ফুটবল ম্যাচ, বসে আঁকো, প্রবন্ধ রচনা সহ অন্যান্য সাংস্কৃতিক প্রতিযোগিতা ও অনুষ্ঠান।

Tracking of missing persons at Gangasagar Mela is all set to get easier this year with the State Disaster Management Department, state police, state Inter Agency Group (IAG) and National Institute of Amateur Radio joining hands to develop a website that is solely dedicated to trace out missing persons.

It is for the first time in the country when such a portal, thoroughly dedicated for tracing a missing person, is being introduced in a fair. This is another first at this year’s Gangasagar Mela, like the State Government’s giving 16 satellite phones to police personnel at critical locations to ensure uninterrupted connectivity, even if there is an earthquake or a tsunami or any other emergency.

The details of the missing person along with description and contact number will be immediately uploaded in the portal and a docket number will be generated. The missing person’s relatives will have the option of tracking them by entering the docket number.

The site will also have the option of uploading voice recording of the missing person, which will be automatically translated through a tool. This will be of immense help for cases when it is difficult to decipher the accent of pilgrims.

It may be mentioned that the site has been developed by a member of the West Bengal Radio Club (Amateur Club), an organisation of amateur radio enthusiasts in the state. A team of 45 HAMs from the Club will be working at Gangasagar Mela this year.

গঙ্গাসাগর মেলাকে উদ্দেশ্য করে রাজ্য পুলিশ, রাজ্য বিপর্যয় মোকাবিলা দপ্তর, রাজ্য ইন্টার এজেন্সি গ্রুপ এবং ন্যাশানাল ইন্সটিটিউট অফ অ্যামেচার রেডিও হাত মিলিয়েছে একটি ওয়েবসাইট তৈরী করার জন্য। এই ওয়েবসাইটের মাধ্যমে গঙ্গাসাগর মেলায় নিখোঁজ ব্যক্তিদের খুঁজে বার করা হবে আরও সহজ।
নিরুদ্দেশ ব্যাক্তির নাম, বিবরন, যোগাযোগের নম্বর এই ওয়েবসাইটে আপলোড করা হবে, এবং একটি ডকেট নম্বর দেওয়া হবে। নিরুদ্দেশ ব্যাক্তির আত্মীয় পরিজনরা এই ডকেট নম্বরের মাধ্যমে নিরুদ্দেশ ব্যাক্তির ব্যাপারে যাবতীয় তথ্য পাবেন।
এই সাইটে নিরুদ্দেশ ব্যাক্তির গলার স্বরও আপলোড করা যাবে। এই স্বরটিও মুহূর্তে অনুবাদিত হবে। ভাষার সমস্যার ক্ষেত্রে এই টুলটি খুব কাজে দেবে।
কোনও মেলাকে কেন্দ্র করে নিরুদ্দেশ ব্যক্তিদের খুঁজে বের করার জন্য তৈরী করা পোর্টাল দেশে এই প্রথম। গঙ্গাসাগরে নিরাপত্তা ব্যাবস্থা নিশ্চিত করতে ও পাশাপাশি পুন্যার্থিদের দেখভালের জন্য এই প্রথম রাজ্য সরকার ১৬টি স্যাটেলাইট ফোন ব্যবহার করবে, যাতে প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগেও যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থার কোনও অসুবিধে না হয়।

The Bengal Transport Department’s branding of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup had caught everyone’s eyes, and became very successful. On all the buses the department had designated for ferrying the fans and players, was written ‘Ebar Khela Jombe Bangla’.

Now the department is planning similar branding for two of the most popular annual events that Bengal hosts – Ganga Sagar Mela and the Kolkata International Book Fair (KIBF). What exactly is to be written would be decided later.

While the former will be held in January, with the main events scheduled on January 14 and 15, on Sagar Island in the Sundarbans, the latter will be held from January 30 to February 11 at Central Park in Salt Lake (because the usual venue, the Milan Mela fairground, is being renovated).

The branding would appear on the buses (from Esplanade, Babughat and Howrah) and the 30 vessels (16 belonging to West Bengal Transport Corporation and 14 to Hooghly River Transport Corporation) to be designated for the Ganga Sagar Fair, and on the buses (both AC and non-AC) to be designated specially for ferrying people to and from the Book Fair.

বইমেলা ও গঙ্গাসাগর মেলাকে ব্র্যান্ডিং করার ভাবনা রাজ্যের

 

আন্তর্জাতিক কলকাতা বইমেলা ও গঙ্গাসাগর মেলাকে সাধারণ মানুষের কাছে আকর্ষণীয় করতে এবার এই দুই উৎসবকে ব্র্যান্ডিং করার পরিকল্পনা রাজ্যের। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহণ নিগমের সরকারি বাসে ব্র্যান্ডিং করা হবে।

দেশ বিদেশের বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত নানা মানুষ আসেন এই মেলায়। তাদের কাছে রাজ্যের মান বাড়াতেই এই পরিকল্পনা নেওয়া হয়েছে। মেলা প্রাঙ্গনে যাওয়ার জন্য রাখা হচ্ছে বিশেষ শাটল বাস পরিষেবা। এসি নন এসি সব রকম বাসই থাকছে। বাসের গায়ে বইমেলার ব্র্যান্ডিং করা থাকবে।

একই ভাবনা গঙ্গাসাগর মেলা উপলক্ষেও। এই বাসের গায়েও ব্র্যান্ডিং এর পরিকল্পনা রাজ্যের। বাংলা হিন্দি ও ইংরেজি তিন ভাষাতেই এই ব্র্যান্ডিং থাকবে যাতে সব রকম মানুষের বুঝতে সুবিধা হয়।

ধর্মতলা, বাবুঘাট এবং হাওড়া থেকে ছাড়বে গঙ্গাসাগর যাওয়ার বাস, যাবে লট এইট পর্যন্ত। সেখান থেকে তীর্থযাত্রীদের পৌঁছে দেওয়ার জন্য থাকবে ভেসেলের ব্যবস্থা। এবার মেলা উপলক্ষে ৩০ টি ভেসেল রাখা হচ্ছে।

The State Government is soon going to make rules to ensure that wearing life jackets becomes compulsory for passengers on vessels criss-crossing the Hooghly.

Life-saving jackets have already been started to be handed to passengers at jetties. Another almost 5,000 life jackets are being bought by the State Government to implement the new rules.

The government has also banned the unstable small motor boats (called ‘bhutbhuti’ in Bengali) and is gradually bringing in launches. Twelve launches would be introduced by the first week of December.

Further, from January 1, 2018, every jetty along the Hooghly is going to have two certified and uniformed volunteers called ‘jalasathi’, armed with identity cards, to ensure that rules and regulations are being adhered to. They would be working in tandem with the local police stations.

In related developments, it needs mention that the State Transport Department is implementing a standard operating procedure (SOP) in 362 jetties across Bengal at a cost of Rs 36.2 crore. New RO-RO services are also being launched shortly between Kakdwip and Sagar Island, in time for the Sagar Mela this coming January.

ভুটভুটি বা লঞ্চে গঙ্গা পারাপারে লাইফ সেভিং জ্যাকেট পরা বাধ্যতামূলক হচ্ছে

এবার গঙ্গাবক্ষে ভুটভুটি বা লঞ্চে পারাপারের সময় লাইফ সেভিং জ্যাকেট পরা বাধ্যতামূলক করতে চলেছে রাজ্য সরকার। ইতিমধ্যেই সমস্ত ফেরিঘাটে লাইফ সেভিং জ্যাকেট দেওয়া হয়েছে। আরও প্রায় পাঁচ হাজার লাইফ সেভিং জ্যাকেট কেনা হচ্ছে। চলতি মাসের মধ্যেই সেগুলি সমস্ত ফেরিঘাটে দিয়ে দেওয়া হবে। তারপর লাইফ সেভিং জ্যাকেট ছাড়া কাউকে নদী পারাপার করতে দেওয়া হবে না। এছাড়াও ভুটভুটি বন্ধ করতে তৎপরতা শুরু করেছে রাজ্য সরকার।

পরিবহণমন্ত্রী বলেন, ১ জানুয়ারি থেকে প্রতিটি ঘাটে দু’জন করে জলসাথি নিয়োগ করা হবে। তাঁদের পরিচয়পত্র থাকবে। তাঁরা নির্দিষ্ট পোশাক ও টুপি পরে থাকবেন। এই জলসাথিরা স্থানীয় থানার সঙ্গে সমন্বয় রেখে চলবেন। ঘাটের অপারেটররা অনেক সময় বিপদ সত্ত্বেও ফেরি সার্ভিস চালু রাখেন। এছাড়াও বেশি লোক চাপানো হয়। এতে বিপদের আশঙ্কা থাকে। এই জলসাথিরা সেই বিষয়টিতে নজরদারি চালাবেন।

মন্ত্রী আর বলেন, রাজ্যে ৩৬২টি জেটিতে ৩৬ কোটি ২০ লক্ষ টাকা খরচ করে স্ট্যান্ডার্ড অপারেশনাল প্রসিডিওর শুরু হয়েছে। এতে যাত্রীদের সুরক্ষা ও স্বাচ্ছন্দ্য আরও বাড়ানো যাবে। এছাড়াও জলপথে নিরাপত্তা বাড়াতে পুলিশও অনেকগুলি পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে।

গঙ্গাসাগরে মেলার আগে সুন্দরবনের সমস্ত ঘাট পরিদর্শন করা হবে। সেই সময় ওই ঘাটগুলি ব্যাপকভাবে ব্যবহার করা হয়। সেগুলির মেরামতের জন্য টাকা বরাদ্দ হয়েছে। ওই কাজ কেমন হয়েছে, তা খতিয়ে দেখতেই সুন্দরবনের ঘাট দেখা হবে। এছাড়াও জলধারা প্রকল্পও জনপ্রিয় করে তুলতে আরও উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হচ্ছে।
