Two announcements at the recently-concluded Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) have given a big boost to the food processing and fisheries sectors in Bengal.
While Wow! Momo announced the setting up of a state-of-the-art momo factory at Kasba Industrial Estate in Kolkata, Anjan Chatterjee, founder and managing director of Speciality Restaurants, announced the setting up of a skill development institute.
Wow! Momo is the country’s first and largest chain of branded momos, with over 130 outlets across eight cities. Speciality Restaurants runs a 14-brand chain of premier restaurants in India and outside the country. It also has a catering service and a sweet outlet in Mumbai selling Bengali sweets.
The momo factory will come up on 24,000 square metres (sq m) at Kasba Industrial Estate, and will employ state-of-the-art technology to make and export frozen momos. The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State Fisheries Department. Wow! Momo is also opening a chain of Bengali restaurants across the country.
বাংলায় ‘ওয়াও মোমো’র কারখানা চালু হবে
বেঙ্গল গ্লোবাল বিজনেস সামিটের মঞ্চে অভিনব ঘোষণা বেসরকারি সংস্থা ‘ওয়াও মোমো’-র। একদিকে রসনা তৃপ্তি ও অন্যদিকে কর্মসংস্থান।
এদিন সংস্থার তরফ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে খুব শীঘ্রই কলকাতায় মোমো তৈরির কারখানা বানাচ্ছে তারা। কসবা শিল্পতালুকে এ জন্য প্রায় ২৪ হাজার বর্গ ফুটের অফিস তৈরি হচ্ছে। সেখান থেকে ফ্রোজেন মোমো ভিন রাজ্য এমনকি বিদেশেও রপ্তানি করা হবে।
‘স্টেট অব দ্য আর্ট’ প্রযুক্তিতে তৈরি এই মোমোর কারখানার পাশাপাশিই বাঙালি রেস্তোরাঁ চেন চালু করছে ‘ওয়াও মোমো’। গোটা দেশেই ‘ওয়াও মোমো’র রেস্তোরাঁ চালু করবে।
