The State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Department is going to set up a model farm in Jhargram district to help the tribal population there gain financial independence. The over-20-acre farm will produce vetiver, lemongrass and essential oils. A distillation unit will also be established there.

Over 50,000 people are already associated with the aroma industry in this district. This venture will be a blueprint for more such ventures, which will help in employment generation as well as in making many of the tribals self-sufficient. The State Government will actively encourage and provide financial and technical help for setting up the farms.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has done a lot since she came to power in 2011 to help the tribal population of the Jangalmahal region get back on their feet. She also made Jhargram into a separate district in order to bring about focussed developmental activities.

 

আদিবাসীদের উন্নয়নে ঝাড়গ্রামে তৈরী হবে মডেল ফার্ম

রাজ্যের ক্ষুদ্র, মাঝারি ও কুটির শিল্প দপ্তর নবনির্মিত ঝাড়গ্রাম জেলায় তৈরী করতে চলেছে একটি মডেল ফার্ম। এই ফার্মটি তৈরি করা হবে আদিবাসীদের আর্থিকভাবে আরও স্বচ্ছল করে তোলার লক্ষ্যে। ২০ একর জমির ওপর গড়ে উঠবে এই ফার্ম। এখানে উৎপাদন করা হবে ভেটিভার, লেমনগ্রাস ও অন্যান্য তেল। পরিশোধন ব্যবস্থাও থাকবে এখানে।

এই অঞ্চলের প্রায় ৫০,০০০ মানুষ সুগন্ধি শিল্পের সঙ্গে জড়িত। এই মডেল ফার্মের উদ্যোগের ফলে এলাকায় কর্মসংস্থান বাড়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে আদিবাসীরা আর্থিক ভাবেও স্বনির্ভর হবেন। এই ফার্ম তৈরীতে রাজ্য সরকার আর্থিক ও প্রযুক্তিগত সবরকম সাহায্য করবে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ২০১১ সালে শাসনভার গ্রহণ করার পর থেকেই আদিবাসীদের উন্নয়নের লক্ষ্যে অনেক পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছেন। ঝাড়গ্রামকে পৃথক জেলার স্বীকৃতিও দিয়েছেন তিনি।
