WB Govt intervention resolves potato crisis

Representatives of potato traders today met West Bengal Chief Minister Ms MamataBanerjee at Nabanna. In the meeting it was decided that traders will sell Jyoti potatoes at Rs 15 per kilo. Government will also allow traders to export potatoes outside the State.

It had been made clear to the traders thatthey cannot pressurize the government by threatening to go on strike. Thegovernment also threatened to take necessary action against the traders. After government’s appeal, the strike by potato traders was withdrawn.
