WB Govt clears investment proposals worth Rs 1800 crore

West Bengal government has given green signal to three projects in the state – Integrated Textile Park at Belur, Banarhat Eco Tourism Park and Silk Park at Malda – which are expected to fetch an investment of Rs 1,800 crore over the next two years.

The proposed Integrated Textile Park at Belur, coming up on a plot of National Iron & Steel Company, will house around 5,000 power looms. While the initial plan was to set up mega power looms in the area, the state decided to accommodate handlooms and dying units on the premises.

The state government is expecting an investment of Rs 1,400 crore in the textile park.

The state will also float global tender for the Ecotourism park at Banarahat in Jalpaiguri district. Apart from star category resorts, the project spread over 100 acres will house budget hotels, craft villages, convention centres and a youth hostel. Over the next two years the project is likely to fetch an investment of more than Rs 300 crore.

WB CM Ms. Mamata Banerjee has asked the officials to speed up the work of the Silk Park in Malda. The project is also likely to fetch an investment of Rs 100 crore.
