WB CM to visit Sunderbans with a team of industrialists for a tourism-development trip

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will leave for a 3-day trip to Sunderbans, accompanied by a team of industrialists. The trip is aimed at showcasing the tourism potential of the island.

The industrialists had been part of the delegation that had gone to Singapore along with Ms Banerjee as well as accompanied her during her Gangasagar trip.

Boosting tourism

To start with, the delegation will halt at Jharkhali, wherein Chief Minister will hold a meeting with the industrialists. The next day, the team will accompany Ms Banerjee on a boat to various islands of the southern fringes of Sunderbans.

In an attempt to showcase the tourism potential of the beaches of Bengal, Ms Banerjee took up an initiative to visit the places along with industrialists and discuss possible investment opportunities for improving infrastructure. Following which, the first tourism-development trip began with Gangasagar in October.

Inauguration of projects

On 8 December, Ms Banerjee is scheduled to reach Phultali where a government programme has been organised. Here she will inaugurate the ‘Tiger Rescue Centre’ at Jharkhali and a 750 m long bridge between Mathurapur and Patharpratima.

On the next day, she will join industrialists at Jharkhali and on the next day visit some of the islands of Sunderbans.
