WB CM inaugurates safari park near Siliguri
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the North Bengal Wild Animals Park, a safari park near Siliguri, today. She had laid the foundation stone for the park in 2014.
The Rs 250 crore-project – adjacent to the populous city of Siliguri, which is the gateway to the entire north-eastern India – presently houses 15 sambar deer, 15 barking deer, 120 spotted deer (chital), one male rhino, wild boars, jungle fowl, jungle cats, and golden and silver pheasants. Ten swamp deer, one female rhino and bisons would be brought in soon. By the end of this year, the park would house about 250 herbivores and carnivores.
The safari park, spread over an area of 700 acres, has animals in the open, and the tourists would be taken on trips in covered vehicles.
Elephant rides will also be arranged, said a wildlife official.
The salient points of her speech are as follows:
- We are giving a piece of land to the Press Club along with a grant of Rs 20 lakh.
- A new health insurance scheme is being started for the journalists, it will be effective from March 1.
- The safari park, North Bengal Wild Animals Park, has been set up on 300 hectares.
- This project is worth Rs 250 crore out of which Rs 80 crore has already been spent.
- The safari park is a new feather in the cap of Siliguri which is just 8 km away.
- A veterinary, environment and fishery science college is being built in Jalpaiguri on 114 acres at an expenditure of Rs 200 crore.
- A broiler is being built in Jalpaiguri at a cost of Rs 13 crore. 20 lakh broiler chickens will be produced there.
- We are building the smart cities Teesta City in North Bengal, Gitabitan in Bolpur and Agnibeena in Asansol.
- We have conserved Sister Nivedita’s house in Darjeeling as a heritage structure.
- We have started a massive road project that will connect India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
- We will provide free passes for those visiting the safari park in the first month.

শিলিগুড়িতে সাফারি পার্কের উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী
পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় আজ শিলিগুড়ির কাছে একটি সাফারি পার্কের উদ্বোধন করেন। ২০১৪ সালে তিনি এই পার্কের ভিত্তিপ্রস্তর স্থাপন করেছিলেন।
২৫০ কোটি টাকার এই প্রকল্প- সমস্ত উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের প্রবেশদ্বার শিলিগুড়ির খু ব কাছেই অবস্থিত। বর্তমানে এই সাফারি পার্কে ১৫টি সম্বর হরিণ, ১৫টি বার্কিং ডিয়ার, ১২০টি চিতল হরিণ, একটি ছেলে গণ্ডার, বন্য বিড়াল, বন্য শুয়োর, বন্য পাখি, সোনালি ও রুপোলি ফেজেন্ট আছে। আরও ১০টি হরিণ, একটি মেয়ে গণ্ডার এবং বাইসন শীঘ্র আনা হবে।
এই বছরের মধ্যে এই সাফারি পার্কে মাংসাশী ও তৃণভোজী প্রাণী মিলিয়ে প্রায় ২৫০ টি পশু এসে যাবে।
প্রায় ৭০০ একর জমির ওপর তৈরি হচ্ছে এই সাফারি পার্ক তৈরি হচ্ছে। পশুপাখিরা থাকবে উন্মুক্ত স্থানে এবং পর্যটকদের জন্যও থাকবে জাল দিয়ে ঘেরা গাড়ি।
বনদপ্তরের অফিসার জানান, এখানে হাতি সাফারিরও বন্দোবস্ত করা হয়েছে।
মুক্ষমন্ত্রীর বক্ত্রিতার মূল বক্তব্য:
- প্রেস ক্লাবকে আমরা একটি জমি দিচ্ছি এবং আমরা তাদের ২০ লক্ষ টাকা অনুদান দিচ্ছি
- সাংবাদিকদের জন্যও নতুন স্বাস্থ্য বিমা করছে রাজ্য সরকার, এবছরের ১ মার্চ থেকে এটি কার্যকরী হবে
- ৩০০ হেক্টর জমিতে তৈরি হয়েছে এই বেঙ্গল সাফারি পার্ক
- এটি ২৫০ কোটি টাকার প্রকল্প, ইতিমধ্যেই ৮০ কোটি টাকা খরচ হয়ে গেছে
- শিলিগুড়ি থেকে মাত্র ৮ কিলমিটার দুরত্বে এই সাফারি পার্ক
- ‘বেঙ্গল সাফারি পার্ক’ শিলিগুড়ির একটি নতুন পালঙ্ক
- ১৩ কোটি টাকা দিয়ে জলপাইগুড়িতে একটি ব্রয়লার তৈরি হচ্ছে, যেখানে ২০ লক্ষ ব্রয়লার মুরগী উত্পন্ন হবে
- উত্তরবঙ্গ ভুটান নেপাল এবং বাংলাদেশের প্রবেশপথ
- ভুটান নেপাল এবং বাংলাদেশকে যুক্ত করতে আমরা একটি রাস্তা তৈরি করছি,এর জন্যও আমরা ২ টি প্রকল্প চালু করছি
- শিলিগুড়ি ও জলপাইগুড়ির সাথে সড়কপথে যুক্ত হবে বাংলাদেশ
- উত্তরবঙ্গে তিস্তা সিটি, বোলপুরে গীতবিতান সিটি এবং আসানসোলে তৈরি হচ্ছে অগ্নিবীণা সিটি
- জলপাইগুড়ি ভেঙে আলিপুরদুয়ার নতুন জেলা হয়েছে সেখানে প্রচুর কাজ হচ্ছে
- আমরা কথা ও কাজে সামঞ্জস্য বজায় রেখেছি
- দার্জিলিং এ সিস্টার নিবেদিতার বাড়ি আমরা সংরক্ষণ করেছি
- প্রথম এক মাস সাফারি পার্ক ভ্রমণের জন্য বিনামূল্যে পাস দেওয়া হবে
- ২৩ তারিখ আমরা নেতাজির জন্মদিন পালন করব
- পাহাড়কে বাদ দিয়ে আমার বাংলা সম্পূর্ণ হয় না
