WB CM takes stock of the progress of development schemes in the state

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee chaired an administrative review meeting today at Town Hall Kolkata. Present at the meeting were all the members of the West Bengal Cabinet, all the secretaries, departmental heads, directors of all the state directorates, District Magistrates from all the districts and police personnel.
In the meeting, the progress of all the developmental schemes going on under all the departments in all the districts was reviewed. The Chief Minister took stock of every work in details.
Excerpts from the Chief Minister`s address to the media:
We had a meeting regarding the status of different developmental works that have been done or are going on in the state. Works by all the departments and works in all the districts were reviewed. These meetings are helpful for monitoring, providing smooth service and establishing good governance.
As a result of these meetings, we come to know, the backlogs, the priorities, the actual status in details. To the best of my knowledge, such review meetings are not done anywhere in India, and I daresay the world, in such a rigorous manner as we do it here in Bengal.
In spite of our financial crisis due to loan repayment, our financial growth has been record 32 per cent . We have already spent Rs. 15,000 Cr for development purpose, with 3 months to spare in the fiscal year. We are here to do more work.
All the Ministers, DMs, secretaries, directors were present at this meeting. We will bring out the Administrative Calendar on January 2, 2014. This will be a first of its kind. The districts have also been asked to make such Calendars. They have been asked to fix annual targets to carry out all works from now.
