Trinamool Chairperson asks party MPs to acelerate MPLAD fund spending

The party Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjee had a meeting with party MPs to finalise a blueprint to accelerate development work before the Lok Sabha elections. Directing party MPs to properly utilise their annual local area development (LAD) funds, the party Chairperson asked them to work intensively for the people before the Lok Sabha elections.
“All MPs have been asked to mostly stay in their constituencies and build up rapport with the people, accelerate development work and complete all pending works before the Lok Sabha elections,“ Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Leader, AITC Parliamentary Party in Lok Sabha, said.
“There is no point keeping money unutilized. We have won the Panchayat and civic elections and we need to speed up development work,“ Mr. Bandyopadhyay said.
Trinamool Congress bagged 13 out of 17 Zilla Parishads and won a majority of the civic bodies in the recently concluded elections. The Chairperson wanted total utilisation of MPLAD funds and warned MPs against inability to use funds meant for development, party sources said. The MPs were asked to supervise the work of panchayats to ensure that the rural populace appreciates the development programmes undertaken by the newly-elected Panchayats.
Trinamool Congress Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjee specifically asked the Parliament Members to study the proposed legislations for the upcoming winter session of Parliament. She has also said that senior MPs Sudip Bandhapadhay and Sougata Roy would tackle controversial issues.
