TMC MPs protest against hike in excise duty on petrol and diesel

Trinamool MPs today staged a protest against Centre’s decision to increase excise duty on petrol and diesel products.
Excise duty was increased by Rs 2.25/litre for petrol products and Re 1/litre for diesel, which will be an added burden for the common man.
Fuel prices globally decreased by 35%, whereas the drop in prices in India was a mere 8%.
“I heard that Centre has hiked the excise duty on petrol and diesel again. They deregulated prices of fuel. The reduction of prices of fuel in India is not at par with the reduction of prices in global market,” said the Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee at meeting of party workers in Siliguri yesterday.
The Chairperson said that protests will continue against the hike in fuel prices at Delhi.
