TMC holds rally in Lalgarh

Lalgarh, Jan 30: In a show of strength, the Trinamool Congress on Sunday held a public rally in Lalgarh. More than 100,000 people came to attend the rally. The Trinamool rally was earlier supposed to be held here on January 9 but it got postponed due to the Netai firing incident that occurred on January 7 and therefore the meeting was rescheduled today to mark Gandhiji’s death anniversary. Before the meeting, Trinamool MP Subhendu Adhikari went to Netai village where nine ‘shahid bedis’ were set up in memory of the nine persons killed. He also handed over 5,000 to those who got injured in the incident and 25,000 to the victims’ families. Previously, Mamata Banerjee had announced the same compensation amount to the families of the injured and the nine dead. Sisir Adhikari, who was present at the meeting, said that if Mamata Banerjee is voted to power, she will do in 35 months what the CPM could not do in 35 years of their rule.
