The children and women of Netai are still under fear: Medical team

Netai, Jan 24: The children and women of Netai are still under a fear psychosis in the aftermath of the brutal massacre. The happenings of that fateful day have left them so shocked and shattered mentally that they still cannot forget the shooting spree of the ‘Harmads’ on that day. The medical team of the Medical Service Centre found out this unfortunate truth when they recently visited the village. A team of 18 personnel including nine physicians comprised the team that went to Netai on 18th of January. A member of the team, Dr. Mridul Sarkar, noted that the children have suffered the most followed by the women, mentally. They are in dire need of treatment from psychiatrists and psychologists, according to him. Apart from this, there are still many injured persons in the village. Some of them have severe injuries. But most of them could not get any entry to the local hospitals. The state government should respect and give compensations to them also. According to the Medical Service Centre, the state government would again play politics and reprieve the truly wounded in Netai from compensation like they had done in the Nandigram affair.
