State Govt promoting MSMEs in north Bengal
The State Government’s promotion of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) is getting another expression with the setting up of 25 such units at Chakchaka Industrial Estate in Cooch Behar district. They are going to start operations soon.
The enterprises include maize and pulse packagers, dairies, flour and rice mills, makers of soya nuggets, puffed rice, cattle feed and water plants, and manufacturers of batteries, corrugated boxes, jewellery boxes and packets.
Besides these, investments are also being made in agro industries and educational, health and manufacturing sectors in the districts of north Bengal.
At the recently-held North Bengal Conclave in Siliguri, Finance, Industries and Commerce, and MSME and Textiles Minister, Dr Amit Mitra said that north Bengal is in no way falling behind other regions of the state and pointed out the fact that in the food processing sector, north Bengal alone provides the highest amount of raw materials.
At the May 2017 Food Processing Conclave in Siliguri, proposed investments were to the tune of Rs 1,760 crore, of which Rs 600 crore worth of projects have already been implemented. And since the 2015 North Bengal Conclave and till 2017, investments in north Bengal under implementation are worth Rs 1,457 crore, whereas at the 2017 conclave, new investments have been to the tune of Rs 888 crore.

কোচবিহার জেলার চকচকা ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল এস্টেটে ২৫টি নতুন এমএসএমই ইউনিট গড়ছে রাজ্য সরকার। উত্তরবঙ্গে ক্ষুদ্র, মাঝারি ও কুটির শিল্পের প্রসারে এটি একটি অনন্য পদক্ষেপ। এই ইউনিটগুলি খুব তাড়াতাড়ি কাজ করা শুরু করবে।
এই ইউনিটগুলিতে থাকবে বিভিন্ন ব্যবসায়িক সংস্থা, যেমন, ভুট্টা ও ডাল প্যাকেজার, ডেয়ারি, চাল ও গম কল, সয়াবিনের বড়ি প্রস্তুতকারক, মুড়ি প্রস্তুতকারক, গবাদী পশুখাদ্য প্রস্তুতকারক, ব্যাটারি প্রস্তুতকারক, কোরুগেটেড বাক্স, গয়নার বাক্স ও প্যাকেট প্রস্তুতকারক।
এছাড়াও, সরকারের উদ্যোগের ফলে উত্তরবঙ্গে কৃষি শিল্পে, শিক্ষায়, নির্মাণশিল্পে বিনিয়োগ হচ্ছে। সদ্যসমাপ্ত উত্তরবঙ্গ কনক্লেভে অর্থমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র বলেন, উত্তরবঙ্গ কোনওভাবেই রাজ্যের অন্য প্রান্ত থেকে পিছিয়ে নয়। উপরন্তু, খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ শিল্পে কাঁচামাল সব থেকে বেশী উত্তরবঙ্গ থেকেই জোগান হয়।
২০১৭ সালের মে মাসে শিলিগুড়িতে অনুষ্ঠিত খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ কনক্লেভে ১৭৬০ কোটি টাকার বিনিয়োগের প্রস্তাব এসেছিল। যার মধ্যে ৬০০ কোটি টাকার প্রকল্পের কাজ ইতিমধ্যেই শুরু হয়ে গেছে। ২০১৫ সালের উত্তরবঙ্গ কনক্লেভের পর থেকে এখনও পর্যন্ত ১৪৫৭ কোটি টাকার প্রকল্প রূপায়িত হয়েছে। ২০১৭ সালের কনক্লেভে নতুন বিনিয়োগ এসেছে ৮৮৮কোটি টাকার।
