Saket Gokhale’s supplementary question during Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha on why the budget for UDAN Scheme has been reduced by 60%
Sir, in the Interim Budget, 2024 that was presented by the hon. Finance Minister, allocation for the UDAN Scheme has been slashed by 60 per cent. Of that, 1,300 valid routes allotted under UDAN 5.O, 501 routes have been cancelled already. So, my question is: Why has the Budget for UDAN been reduced by 60 per cent, from Rs.1,244/- crores to just Rs.850/- crores? Number two, what steps are being taken to revive the 501 cancelled routes which were allocated under UDAN 5.O?
