Sajda Ahmed’s Special Mention (Rule 377) on the need to expedite the construction of a railway track connecting Shyampur and Bagnan in her Uluberia constituency

I would like to draw the kind attention of the Government towards a long-pending demand of the people of my Parliamentary Constituency, which pertains to the Ministry of Railways. The proposal for a new railway line from Shyampur to Bagnan has been pending for a significant period, despite a survey conducted by the previous Government. I have raised this issue several times in the Parliament, yet no action has been taken by the current government. Shyampur, located in the territorial area of my constituency, currently relies solely on road connectivity. Residents are forced to travel 40 to 50 kilometres to reach the nearest railway station, causing considerable hardship. Moreover, the region includes notable tourist spots such as Gadiara and Garchumuk which would greatly benefit from improved railway access. The establishment of this railway line would not only alleviate the daily struggles of the local population but also promote tourism in the area, thereby contributing to the region’s economic development. I earnestly request the Government to prioritize this issue and expedite necessary actions for the completion of the Shyampur to Bagnan railway line.
