Rural road construction – Bengal earns Centre’s praise
The Bengal Government has been granted Rs 58.35 crore by the Central Government, as part of the 100 Days’ Work Scheme, for successfully completing almost 90 per cent of the work of repairing and renovating the State’s rural roads.
This is the first time in the 17 years of the Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana that Bengal has got this amount. This was announced by the Panchayats and Rural Development Minister, who pointed out that the endorsement by the Centre is additional proof that the Maa-Mati-Manush Government of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been doing exemplary work ever since coming to power in 2011.
The Government had taken upon itself the goal of repairing 8,889 km of roads across Bengal. Out of this, 7,812 km have been repaired over the last seven years.The remaining 1,077 km would be completed soon. Over the last few years, the State Government has had to spend Rs 708.31 crore for repairing roads.
The work of repairing another 298 old roads has also been taken up.
গ্রামীণ সড়কে রাজ্যের সাফল্য, ভাতা রাজ্যকে
১০০ দিনের কাজের পর এ বার গ্রামে পাকা সড়ক রক্ষণাবেক্ষণেও কেন্দ্রের স্বীকৃতি। ১৭ বছর ধরে চলছে প্রধানমন্ত্রী গ্রাম সড়ক যোজনা। কিন্তু কখনও রাস্তা রক্ষণাবেক্ষণের কাজে রাজ্যের কপালে দিল্লির উৎসাহ ভাতা জোটেনি। এ বছর কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার দেশের ১২টি রাজ্যকে তৈরি হওয়া রাস্তা ভাল রাখার জন্য বিশেষ অনুদান দিয়েছে। তাতে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পেয়েছে ৫৮ কোটি ৩৫ লক্ষ টাকা। যা দেশে চতুর্থ।
পঞ্চায়েত মন্ত্রীর কথায়, “কাজ করলে ফল মেলে। তার স্বীকৃতি কেন্দ্রকে দিতেই হবে। ১০০ দিনের কাজে আমরা দেশের সেরা, গ্রামেগঞ্জে রাস্তা তৈরীতেও উৎসাহভাতা দিল কেন্দ্র।”
দপ্তরের হিসাব বলছে, তৃণমূল সরকার ক্ষমতায় আসার পর ৮৮৮৯ কিমি রাস্তা রক্ষণাবেক্ষণের কাজ শুরু করেছিল পঞ্চায়েত দপ্তর। তার মধ্যে ৭৮১২ কিমি রাস্তা সম্পূর্ণ মেরামত করে দেওয়া হয়েছে। বাকি ১০৭৭ কিমির কাজ চলছে। এ ছাড়াও নতুন করে ২৯৮টি পুরনো রাস্তা সংস্কারের জন্য হাতে নেওয়া হচ্ছে। রাজ্যের পঞ্চায়েত দফতরের দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত অধিকর্তা জানান, গত কয়েক বছরে রাস্তা মেরামতির জন্য রাজ্য ৭০৮ কোটি ৩১ টাকা খরচ করেছে।
২০০০ সালে গ্রামে পাকা রাস্তা তৈরির প্রধানমন্ত্রী গ্রাম সড়ক যোজনা প্রকল্পটি শুরু হয়েছিল। গ্রামীণ পরিকাঠামো তৈরির ক্ষেত্রে এই প্রকল্পের বৈপ্লবিক ভূমিকা রয়েছে বলে মনে করা হয়। ইউপিএ জমানাতেও প্রকল্পটি চালু রেখেছিল কংগ্রেস। এখন কেন্দ্র তৈরী রাস্তার রক্ষণাবেক্ষণের কাজ দেখতে দিল্লির প্রতিনিধি পাঠায়। তাঁদের রিপোর্টের ভিত্তিতেই উৎসাহভাতা দেওয়া শুরু হয়।
