Resurgence of Industry in Bengal: State holds 6th position in terms of investments received in 2013

West Bengal currently holds the 6th place in terms of investment received in a year, according to Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. 33 industry proposals have been realised in the year 2013, between January 1 and October 31st.


Industry Minister Mr. Partha Chatterjee said that the state is not satisfied being in the 6th place. He said that to reach the top spot, constant coordination is being maintained to rope in Small, Medium and Heavy industries. It is being pointed out to them that currently West Bengal is the best place to create industries, said Mr. Chatterjee.


The State has recently unveiled its new Industrial Policy. It has kept provisions to add 11,000 acres to the existing land ceiling and is deciding upon an additional 15,000 acres. The task Force that was formed recently to make the projects run smooth has also facilitated investment processes. The Mumbai-meet by West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee urging industrial giants to come to West Bengal and invest was one of the prime reasons behind this record-breaking surge.
