Reports of Vatican delegation visiting Bengal false: Derek

Leader of Trinamool Congress in Rajya Sabha and the National Spokesperson of the party, Derek O’Brien today dispelled all rumours about a Vatican delegation coming to meet the 74 year old nun at Ranaghat.
Derek O’Brien said, “This is rumour mongering. No team from Vatican is coming to Bengal. Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Thottunkal from Kerela is meeting the Bengal CM today.”
There are four cardinals in India, Mr O’Brien met two of them in the national capital – Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Thottunkal and Cardinal Ivan Dias – on 17 March, 2015.
Derek also said that several rumours were being spread via WhatsApp regarding the medical condition of the 74 year old nun. He urged people to desist from such actions. He is constantly in touch with the Sisters at Convent of Jesus & Mary (CJM). The Worldwide Head of CJM has informed Mr O’Brien that the nun is stable now.
WB CM had swiftly ordered a CID probe into the case on 14 March, 2015, within hours of the incident taking place. Seven people have been detained so far.
WB CM visited the survivor in person and assured all assistance. She also said the government will do all it takes to apprehend the culprits. She described the incident as an attack on humanity, not just the convent.
