Orchid park to come up in north Bengal
The Bengal Government is planning to set up an orchid park in north Bengal. The park, to be created in collaboration with a private company, is going to come up in either Alipurduar or Jalpaiguri district, where the Government has enough suitable land at its disposal.
An expert from Thailand has been roped in to create the park on the lines of similar parks in places like Phuket and Kanchanaburi.
According to Tourism Minister Gautam Deb, the park is likely to come up on 30-35 acres of land. It would have an orchid garden as well as cottages with home stay facilities for tourists. The orchids would also be sold in the country as well as abroad.
The park would thus offer multiple opportunities for employment – from the growing of orchids, of course, and also from the management of the cottages, packaging of orchids, among other things.
অর্কিড পার্ক তৈরি হচ্ছে উত্তরবঙ্গে
পর্যটনে বৈচিত্র্য আনতে থাইল্যান্ডের মডেলে উত্তরবঙ্গে একটি অর্কিড পার্ক স্থাপনের পরিকল্পনা করছে রাজ্য সরকার। একটি বেসরকারি কোম্পানির সঙ্গে যৌথ উদ্যোগে এই পার্ককে পর্যটক আকর্ষণের কেন্দ্র হিসেবে গড়ে তোলার পরিকল্পনা হয়েছে।
আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলার জলদাপাড়া বা জয়ন্তী এবং জলপাইগুড়ি জেলার মালবাজার এলাকায় অনেক সরকারি জমি আছে। অর্কিড পার্কের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় জমি সেখান থেকেই সংগ্রহ করা হবে।
পর্যটন মন্ত্রী গৌতম দেব জানান, থাইল্যান্ডের প্রযুক্তিকে কাজে লাগিয়ে অর্কিড চাষের পাশাপাশি কটেজ তৈরি করে পর্যটকদের রাত্রিবাসেরও ব্যবস্থা থাকবে।
প্রাথমিক ভাবে অন্তত ২৫ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করা হয়েছে। উৎপাদিত অর্কিড দেশে বিক্রির পাশাপাশি বিদেশেও রপ্তানি করা হবে। এর ফলে স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ হবে।
