Muslin Gram to help weavers and spread their fame far and wide

Muslin Gram to help weavers and spread their fame far and wide

The Trinamool Congress Government has been instrumental in reviving the centuries-old handicraft of muslin by helping weaver through funds and instruments, as well as marketing the end-products.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has played an instrumental role in this effort. It was primarily her idea to bring back the lost glory of Bangla and spread its fame far and wide.

Towards this end, the State Government has now decided to set up a ‘Muslin Gram’, or ‘Muslin Village’. This village would house many weavers, and would also act as a marketing hub. It is likely to be set up in Kalna, Purba Bardhaman, which is a major hub for muslin weavers.
