Lok Sabha MP Sayani Ghosh’s Zero Hour mention on expediting the approval for the construction of the Champahati railway overbridge in the Sonarpur-Canning Section of the Sealdah Division and thus, ensuring the strengthening of Kolkata’s suburban railway system
Sir, I rise to bring your attention to the urgent need for strengthening the infrastructure of Kolkata Suburban Railway which serves as the lifeline for millions of commuters. One critical project which has been pending since long is the construction of a Road Over Bridge at Champahati Railway Station in Sonapur-Canning Section of Sealdah Division. The demand for this ROB to replace the level crossing (LC No.13/B/T) has been a long-standing demand. The existing level crossing causes severe delays and congestion, posing safety risks to passengers and motorists alike. Sir, despite assurances, the feasibility study and preparations of the DPR has come to a standstill. So, I urge the Government to expedite the approval of the construction of a Road over Bridge at Champahati Railway Station, and take concrete steps to strengthen the Kolkata Suburban Railway.
