Lok Sabha MP June Maliah’s Zero Hour mention on the urgent need to pass the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Amendment) Bill, 2022 to enhance animal protection and promote societal welfare
Thank you very much, Sir. I urgently request to expedite the introduction and passage of the draft Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Amendment) Bill, 2022 which was released for public consultation on 21- 11-2022. This Bill is extremely crucial for enhancing animal protection and promoting societal welfare only because this law has not been amended since 1962. Not only me but many other Members of Parliament are facing these issues in their constituencies as there is extreme cruelty towards animals every day. Every day we get to see very disturbing images on social media. So, I would respectfully urge the Department concerned to prioritize the introduction of this Bill and facilitate its swift passage.
