KMC instals high-end diagnostic machines
Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has installed reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machines for diagnostic services. This cutting-edge device can directly detect viral DNAs, helping in the easier detection of diseases such as dengue and TB.
This is the first time in India that a municipal corporation has installed RT- PCR machines. While announcing the machines, the mayor also said that no matter how expensive and complex the technology involved, tests will be done free of cost.
It may be mentioned that the KMC has intensified the drives that are being carried out to prevent the spreading of dengue in the city. Twenty wards have been identified as vulnerable to dengue and drives are being carried out with intense supervision at these areas.
