Investments pour in for boosting tourism in Sunderbans
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee, who took a select group of industrialists on a tour to the world’s largest mangrove forests on Tuesday, urged them to help the government in developing tourism infrastructure.
“I request you to invest money for promoting tourism and developing infrastructure in our State, particularly the Sunderbans,” she told the 25 industrialists accompanying her on a two-day infrastructure and tourism development tour.
The Chief Minister promised all assistance from the government saying her regime has a positive approach towards industrialisation.
- Ambuja Neotia Group chief Harshavardhan Neotia promised to come up with Rs 50 crore project involving construction of 50 cottages as part of an eco-tourism project.
- Utsav Parekh and Partha Ghosh will invest Rs 50 crore for water taxi project in this region.
- Director of South City Group to invest Rs 100 crore in hospitality sector and also set up a film city on Kolkata-Basanti road.
- Mahindra group has decided to invest Rs 30 crore for setting up a resort at Jharkhali.
