Innovative tourism initiative: Tree houses in Bankura
In a unique initiative on eco-tourism, the district administration of Bankura is setting up two tree houses in the forests of Jhilimili in Ranibandh region. This will attract more tourists to the region.
According to a senior administrative official of the district, the tree houses will be constructed in a way that will make them appear to be situated on the branches of trees. These would be ideal for short stays, and from here people would be able to enjoy the scenic beauty of Ranibandh.
This project is part of a series of initiatives for promoting Bankura district as a tourist destination. Two beautiful collates and two Swiss tents would also be set up in the area.
The State Government’s Paschimanchal Development Parishad has allotted Rs 78 lakh to give a new look to Jhilimili. The tree houses would be completed within the next six months.
It needs to be mentioned that Mamata Banerjee, after coming to power as Chief Minister, undertook a series of measures to free the western region of Bengal from the grip of the Maoists. Her efforts led to huge development of the region, and the opening up of many places as tourist spots. Ranibandh is one such spot, which has benefitted immensely from the Chief Minister’s efforts.

দিগন্ত বিস্তৃত গভীর জঙ্গল৷ যে দিকে দু’চোখ যায় শুধু শাল, মহুয়া, পলাশ আর নাম না জানা অসংখ্য গাছেদের সারি৷ এমনই অপরূপ প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য্যে ঘেরা বাঁকুড়ার রানিবাঁধের ঝিলিমিলিকে আরও মোহময়ী রুপ দিতে ইকো ট্যুরিজমের উপর জোর দিচ্ছে প্রশাসন৷
বাঁকুড়ার খাতড়া মহকুমা প্রশাসন সূত্রে খবর, এখানে তৈরী হচ্ছে ‘ট্রি হাউস’ থেকে ‘সুইস টেন্ট’৷ এখানে আসা পর্যটকরা প্রকৃতির মাঝে থেকেই প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য্য উপভোগ করতে পারবেন৷
ঝিলিমিলিকে নতুন রুপে সাজিয়ে তুলতে পশ্চিমাঞ্চল উন্নয়ন পর্ষদের তরফে তৈরী করা হচ্ছে দু’টি ‘ট্রি হাউস’, দু’টি সুদৃশ্য ‘কটেজ’ ও দু’টি ‘সুইস টেন্ট’৷ গাছের উপরে তৈরী বাড়ি ‘ট্রি হাউস’ নিয়ে স্থানীয় বাসিন্দেদের পাশাপাশি এখানে আসা পর্যটকদের মধ্যে বিপুল আগ্রহ লক্ষ্য করা গেছে৷ আগামী এক মাসের মধ্যে এই প্রকল্পের কাজ শেষ হয়ে যাবে বলে প্রশাসন সূত্রে জানানো হয়েছে৷
২০১১ সালের আগে মাওবাদীদের ভয়ে এখানে পর্যটকের সংখ্যা শূন্যতে নেমেছিল৷ সন্ধ্যা নামার সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই মাও-যৌথ বাহিনীর গুলির লড়াইয়ের শব্দে জঙ্গলের আকাশ বাতাস কেঁপে উঠত৷ পর্যটক আসা তো দূরের কথা নিজেদের জীবন নিয়েও সংশয়ে ছিলেন এলাকার মানুষ৷ সময় বদলেছে৷ থেমেছে গুলির লড়াই৷ জঙ্গলমহল এখন সেই আগের ছন্দে ফিরেছে৷
বাঁকুড়ার রানি মুকুটমনিপুর-সহ ঝিলিমিলি-সুতানে বাড়ছে পর্যটকের সংখ্যা৷ আর ঠিক সেই কারণেই এই এলাকায় আরও বেশি পর্যটক টানতে ইকো-ট্যুরিজম প্রকল্পে জোর দিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার৷ মুকুটমনিপুরে আসা পর্যটকরা একই সঙ্গে এখানে এসেও ছুটির আনন্দ নিতে পারবেন৷
পাশাপাশি এই জায়গা থেকে পর্যটকরা সহজেই পৌঁছে টেতে পারবেন সুতান আর তালবেড়িয়া জলাধারে৷ বাইরে থেকে যত বেশি মানুষ এখানে বেড়াতে আসবেন তত বেশি এলাকার মানুষ কাজ পাবেন৷ আর্থিকভাবে লাভবান হবেন জঙ্গল মহলের মানুষ৷
