I am deeply saddened to know about the passing away of Mr Lee Kuan Yew: WB CM
WB CM Ms Mamata Banerjee expressed deep condolences on the passing away of Mr Lee Kaun Yew. Ms Mamata Banerjee during her visit to Singapore had announced setting up a Chair in Calcutta University under his name.
She shared on Facebook:
“I am deeply saddened to know about the passing away of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, the former Prime Minister of Singapore.
Mr Lee was a visionary and the architect of modern Singapore. His passing away will create a huge void in world polity.
Today, at this hour of grief, I offered my deepest condolence to his son Mr Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Singapore, whom I met during my visit in August last year, his family members and to the people of Singapore.
May his soul rest in peace.”
