Handloom Institute of Technology being set up at Phulia in Nadia

West Bengal Government is taking an initiative for the development of handlooms as well as weavers of the State. An Indian Institute of Handloom Technology is being set up at Phulia of Nadia District. This institute will give training to weavers for modernizing the handlooms under the scheme- ‘West Bengal Circuit Development-2014’. These new looms can help to produce maximum quantity of products in minimum time.

The State Technical Education Minister Mr. Ujjal Biswas inaugurated a skill training center at Bhatjangla of Nadia on last Sunday.  He said that 100 skill development centers would be built up throughout the state and near about 1000 student would get training from each center and during this training student get stipend. At Bardhaman, 26 centers will be open. After completion this training the student can get admission to ITI, Polytechnic or Engineering College gradually.

To boost up the marketing of handloom products, the Government will purchase product from the weavers and these products will be used for disaster management.

Last Sunday the Minister of State, Dept. of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises & Textile, Mr. Swapan Debnath also had inaugurated another skill training center at Bidyanagar of Nadia.
