Formation of five districts to be expedited
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has instructed the process of formation of the five districts in West Bengal to be expedited. The decision for the formation was passed by the State Cabinet in December 2015.
The formation of these new districts will result in the improvement of the reach of the government’s services to the people. People would also have to travel lesser distances to visit district capitals to access many of the services or meet officials. As it is, the developmental work carried out by the Trinamool Congress Government during its first tenure has resulted in huge improvements all across the State. The formation of these five districts is going to further that work.
Currently, there are 20 districts in West Bengal. The five more to be carved out are Kalimpong (out of Darjeeling), Asansol (out of Bardhaman), Jhargram (out of Paschim Medinipur), Basirhat (out of North 24 Parganas) and Sunderbans (out of North and South 24 Parganas).
The Chief Minister will decide on which blocks and which Assembly constituencies are to be made a part of these districts. Each of these districts will also have district courts.
During her first tenure as Chief Minister, on June 25, 2014, the district of Alipurduar was created out of Jalpaiguri, to become the 20th district of West Bengal.
নতুন পাঁচটি জেলা দ্রুত গঠনের নির্দেশ দিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী
মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পাঁচটি জেলায় গঠনের প্রক্রিয়া তরান্বিত করা নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন। এইসব নতুন জেলা গঠনের সিদ্ধান্ত ২০১৫ সালের ডিসেম্বর মাসে রাজ্য মন্ত্রিসভায় পাশ হয়ে গেছে। এবার তা বাস্তবায়নের নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।
এই নতুন জেলা গঠনের ফলে সরকারী পরিষেবা মানুষের আয়ত্তে আসবে। কোনরকম সরকারি কাজের জন্য অথবা আধিকারিকদের সঙ্গে দেখা করার জন্য সাধারণ মানুষকে আর অনেক দূরে জেতে হবে না।
তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস পরিচালিত সরকারের আমলে উন্নয়নমূলক কাজের মাধ্যমে রাজ্য জুড়ে এক অভূতপূর্ব উন্নয়ন হয়েছে। এই নতুন পাঁচটি জেলা তৈরির সিদ্ধান্ত সেই কাজকেই আরও এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে।
বর্তমানে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে মোট ২০টি জেলা আছে। নতুন পাঁচটি জেলা হল – কালিম্পং (দার্জিলিং ভেঙে), আসানসোল (বর্ধমান ভেঙে), ঝাড়গ্রাম (পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর ভেঙে), বসিরহাট (উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা ভেঙে), সুন্দরবন (উত্তর ও দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনা ভেঙে)।
জেলাগুলিতে কোন কোন ব্লক, কোন বিধানসভা থাকবে তার রূপরেখা তৈরি করছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। প্রতিটি জেলা সদরে আলাদা করে একটি জেলা আদালত থাকবে।
প্রথমবার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হওয়ার পর ২০১৪ সালের ২৫শে জুন জলপাইগুড়ি জেলা ভেঙে আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলা গঠন করেন।
