Dear Boys: An initiative by Kolkata police on respecting women
Kolkata Police has launched an initiative named ‘Dear Boys’ to educate teenage school boys – from class IX to XII in 20 schools – in showing respect to women.
The project is directed at teenage boys especially because it is pertinent to realise at a young age that women too are humans with every right to stay out for as long as they want to, wear what they wish to – and everyone must respect that.
Boys who inculcate these values in them will grow up into sensitive and responsible men, and will not be unnecessarily judgmental about women’s choices.
Kolkata Police is conducting this campaign also through posts on its Facebook page. The initiative has found support on social media with many users welcoming the move and giving valuable suggestions.
ডিয়ার বয়েজঃ কলকাতা পুলিশের নবতম উদ্যোগ
কিশোর বয়সেই যাতে ছেলেরা মহিলাদের সম্মান করতে শেখে তা নিশ্চিত করতে কলকাতা পুলিশ নিয়েছে এক অভিনব উদ্যোগ। স্কুলপড়ুয়া কিশোরদের প্রশিক্ষণ দেবে পুলিশ যাতে তারা মহিলাদের সম্মান জানাতে শেখে। ২০টি স্কুলের ক্লাস ৯ থেকে ১২ এর ছাত্রদের মধ্যে মহিলাদের প্রতি সম্মানবোধ জাগিয়ে তুলতে দেওয়া হবে প্রশিক্ষণ।
এই কর্মসূচির নাম দেওয়া হয়েছে ‘ডিয়ার বয়েজ’। কিশোর বয়সেই ছেলেদের নারীর প্রতি সম্মানের ব্যাপারে অবগত করানোই উদ্দেশ্য এই উদ্যোগের। বড় হয়ে এই ছাত্ররা যাতে দায়িত্ববান পুরুষ হতে পারে, তাই নিশ্চিত করবে কলকাতা পুলিশ।
এর উদ্যোগকে অনেকেই সোশ্যাল মিডিয়াতে বাহবা জানিয়েছে।
