Bengal now a hotspot for investments: Dr Amit Mitra
The summit was attended by more than 10 representatives of global PE and VC funds. Dr Mitra said, since 2011, total investment by PE, VC and angels funds in West Bengal is over Rs 900 crore. “This is the figure I have with me. But actually , the investment could be even more than Rs 1000 crore. Our own VC fund for MSME would also start funding,“ he added. The fund has a corpus of Rs 200 crore.
“We have crossed Rs 8 lakh crore of GSDP (gross state domestic product), so that means something is rolling and the rate of growth of nominal value are phenomenal, so this is the time that PE firms, startups, those angel funding people, have to be here on the ground,“ said Mitra.
Quoting a study , he said that PE firms had invested $8.4 billion in India between January and September 2014 as against $7.8 billion in 2013, thereby showcasing a 38% jump year-on-year in PE firms’ investment in India.
Later, the president of ASSOCHAM, also the vice-chairman of Srei Infrastructure, Sunil Kanoria said Invest East was organised to reap the benefit of Bengal Global Business Summit. “BGBS has created an environment for investment in Bengal,“ he added.
বিনিয়োগের আদর্শ বাংলা: অমিত মিত্র
রাজ্যে স্টার্ট আপে বিনিয়োগ এবং আগ্রহ দুইই বাড়ছে। এই সরকারের আমলে এক্ষেত্রে প্রায় ৯০০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ হয়েছে। রাজ্যও এজন্য ২০০ কোটি টাকার ভেঞ্চার ক্যাপিটাল ফান্ড গড়েছে। সেখান থেকে জরুরি ভিত্তিতে উদ্যোগীদের সাহায্যের নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে।
রাজ্যের শিল্পমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র বুধবার কলকাতায় বিনিয়োগ সংক্রান্ত এক আলোচনা চক্রে এই তথ্য জানিয়েছেন। তিনি বলেন, “ রাজ্য কেন্দ্রের আগে স্টার্ট আপ নীতি তৈরি করেছে। সেই নীতি ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে যাতে নতুন উদ্যোগপতিদের সমস্যা না হয়। আন্তর্জাতিক বেশ কয়েকটি স্টার্ট আপ সংস্থার সাথে কথা হয়েছে। তারা অনেকেই রাজ্যে কাজ শুরু করতে আগ্রহী। আমাদের বিশেষ কমিটি বিষয়টি দেখছেন”।
এদিন ইন্দো আমেরিকান চেম্বার ও অ্যাসোচেমের পক্ষ উদ্যোগে আলোচনায় অমিত বাবু জানান, রাজ্যে বিনিয়োগের পরিবেশ খুব ভাল। বিনিয়োগকারীদের মধ্যে আস্থা ফিরেছে। তাই লগ্নির অঙ্কও বাড়ছে। যেমন ২০১১ সালের পর থেকে এখনও পর্যন্ত রাজ্যে স্টার্ট আপে প্রায় ৯০০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ হয়েছে। রাজ্যের ২০০ কোটির ফান্ড থেকে ২০ শতাংশও টাকা এখনই স্টার্ট আপ ক্ষেত্রে দিতে বলা হয়েছে।
অ্যাসোচেমের চেয়ারম্যান সুনীল কানোরিয়াও রাজ্যের বর্তমান লগ্নি বান্ধব পরিবেশের প্রশংসা করে বলেন, “লগ্নির সংজ্ঞা বদলে যাচ্ছে। পরিস্থিতি প্রতিনিয়ত পরিবর্তিত হচ্ছে। রাজ্যের শিল্প আবহ ভাল”।
