Bengal Govt ensuring social rehabilitation of differently-abled people
The State Government is taking various measures to ensure that people with disabilities get social rehabilitation after pursuing their studies.
This was said by the Women & Child Development and Social Welfare Minister at a government function to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3. She said that the department is focussing on social and economic rehabilitation for people with disabilities, beyond just providing them with Braille books, and walking sticks and other equipment.
At the function, awards were given in the categories of Best in Sports, Best Role Model, Creative Adult, Self-Employed, Best Individual Working for the Cause of Disability, etc.
The Social Welfare Department held a Rozgar Mela for the differently-abled on December 4 and 5 at College Square, where quite a few companies hired candidates for jobs. Seven government organisations and as many as 37 non-governmental organisations (NGO) also put up stalls at the fair.
Following the passing of the new Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, people suffering from diseases like haemophilia and thalassaemia too come under the definition of people with disabilities.
প্রতিবন্ধীদের উন্নয়নের প্রতি দায়বদ্ধ পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার
রাজ্যে বসবাসকারী প্রতিবন্ধী মানুষদের উন্নয়নের প্রতি দায়বদ্ধ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বাধীন পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার। পড়াশোনার পর যাতে তারা সম্মানের সাথে কাজ করতে পারেন সেটা নিশ্চিত করতে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য সরকার। বিশ্ব প্রতিবন্ধী দিবস উপলক্ষে একটি অনুষ্ঠানে এমনটাই বলেন রাজ্যের নারী ও শিশুকল্যাণ দপ্তরের মন্ত্রী।
ব্রেল বই, লাঠি বা অন্যান্য সরঞ্জাম দিয়ে দায় না সেরে রাজ্য সরকার সচেষ্ট প্রয়াস করছে প্রতিবন্ধী মানুষদের সার্বিক উন্নয়ন করার। ৪-৫ ডিসেম্বর কলেজ স্কয়ারে প্রতিবন্ধী মানুষদের জন্য রোজগার মেলার আয়োজন করে রাজ্য সরকার। সাতটি সরকারি দপ্তর এবং ৩৭টি বেসরকারি সংস্থা এই মেলায় অংশগ্রহণ করে।
প্রসঙ্গত, Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act অনুযায়ী এখন হিমোফিলিয়া ও থ্যালাসেমিয়া রোগীদেরও প্রতিবন্ধীর সংজ্ঞার মধ্যে ধরা হয়।
