Bengal constantly being deprived of Central aid: Partha Chatterjee
Taking a swipe at BJP for not explaining why West Bengal is “constantly being deprived of central aid”, Trinamool Congress Secretary General Partha Chatterjee on Tuesday rubbished the BJP president’s claims that his party would become a formidable force in the state by the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
“He hasn’t said a single word about why Bengal is being deprived of central grants and aids which other states are getting. Why are they taking away 40,000 crore rupees every year from Bengal? We are not responsible for this debt. Our predecessor, the Left Front regime is responsible,” said the Trinamool Congress Secretary General.
Countering the BJP president’s claim of the BJP becoming a potent force in Bengal over the next two years, Trinamool Congress Secretary General said it should be more concerned about its position at the centre.
“They should be more concerned about their position in Delhi, not Bengal. They should worry about whether they would be able to stay in power at the centre in 2019. The people of India have decided that no matter what happens, BJP will have no place in the nation after 2019,” he retorted.
The Trinamool Congress Secretary General also indicated that the BJP was gathering people in meetings and rallies by using its “economic prowess”, and ridiculed the BJP president’s assertion that his party’s symbol lotus would bloom in Bengal.
“The support BJP is witnessing is actually from a group of people gathered using their economic prowess. There is no enthusiasm for the BJP in Bengal. Let alone the ‘flowering of lotus’, they won’t be able to bloom a bud here,” he added.

বাংলাকে কেন আর্থিক সহায়তা থেকে বঞ্চনা করা হচ্ছে এদিন এই প্রসঙ্গে আরও একবার সরব হন তৃণমূলের মহাসচিব পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায়। তাঁর কথায়, অন্যান্য রাজ্য আর্থিক সহায়তা পেলেও বাংলাকে বঞ্চনা করা হচ্ছে।
তৃণমূলের মহাসচিব জানান, “রাজ্যের বকেয়া দাবিদাওয়ার বিষয়ে তিনি কিছু উচ্চবাচ্য করলেন না। বামদের করে যাওয়া ঋণের দায়ে বছরে ৪০ হাজার কোটি টাকা কেন্দ্র কেটে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে। রাজ্যের উন্নয়নের টাকা কেটে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে”।
কেন্দ্রে বিজেপির অবস্থান প্রসঙ্গে তিনি বলেন, “বাংলা নয়, দিল্লিতে ওদের কি পজিশন সেদিকে নজর দিক ওরা। ২০১৯ এর নির্বাচনের পর ওদের ওরা ক্ষমতায় থাকবে কিনা তা নিয়ে ওরা উদ্বিগ্ন। ভারতবর্ষের মানুষ ঠিক করে নিয়েছে ২০১৯ এর পর দেশে বিজেপির কোন জায়গা নেই”। এখানে সব মানুষ ধর্মনিরপেক্ষ। তাই ধর্মীয় বিভাজন নয়, উন্নয়নই হল মানুষের অগ্রাধিকার।
তিনি আরও বলেন, বিজেপির শুধু টাকার জোর আছে। বাংলায় বিজেপির কোন জায়গা নেই। একটাও পদ্মের কুঁড়ি ওরা এখানে ফোটাতে পারবে না।
