Be alert against those spreading communal tension through rumour mongering: Mamata Banerjee

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today cautioned people against people who indulge in rumour mongering to incite communal violence.
She was speaking at the inauguration of a two day-long conference of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department today at Netaji Indoor stadium.
Panchayats that had performed well were rewarded by the Chief Minister at the conference. She announced hikes in honoriums for the three tier panchayat workers. She said that they will be included in the Swasthya Sathi scheme.
In her speech, the Chief Minister said that trust, efficiency, innovation and transparency are the keys to effective governance. She asked the audience to keep working for the people and take the State to new heights of progress.
She praised Coochbehar and Hooghly for performing well in 100 Days’ Work, Nadia in cleanliness mission, Murshidabad in Anandadhara scheme. She also praised the Hooghly district for returning land to Singur farmers in record time in cultivable condition.
The Chief Minister highlighted the plight of the handicraft workers due to demonetisation. She also said that had the government not inherited a huge debt legacy much more work could have been done.
